Just means they aren't scary anymore. Actually, 12 looks set to completely revitalize it. They've finally ditched the stand-in-a-line-and-stab-air paradigm that's been stubbornly held onto since the NES. I'd argue that they've finally strayed far enough from the formula to make a game with interesting gameplay beyond dorking with the equipment. *chuckles* I actually count 9 as one of my favorites in the series, though. For a hopelessly dated game engine, it was damn fun to tweak.

For shits and giggles, I downloaded hi-def (720p) video samples from one of Microsoft's sites. The difference between it and a regular DVD movie was nothing short of stunning on my 52" Toshiba DLP TV. That said, though, I simply have too large of a movie collection. While a high-def disc format would be nice for future movies, I'm just not ready to start replacing anything I've already got. Yah. We've stll got a fair # of VHS tapes kicking around for that reason. That is, sadly, a somewhat likely scenario. I know a guy who bought a DVD player when they were still asking $1000 bucks for one, but most people just aren't willing. *nods* Yah. Sony's gonna eat massive losses on the PS3 to move it. And it'll pr'ly be udnercut by standalone players, just like the PS2 was outside Japan. *nods again* If they do an upgrade later, I hope it's priced low enough that there's no reason NOT to get it.

Thank Granas there ISN'T a remake. I'm sick and tired of hearing about the damned game. The last thing I need is for it start all over again at square 1(or si that SquareEnxii 1?. ... Or even worse, hear all the fanboys start bitching because it's not identical to the original. "OMG TIFA'S BOOBSESES R SMALLAR!1111 SQUARE AM TEH SUX!111 ENIX RUINDED TEH BESTEST GAEM EVAR!11111" Aside from being glitchy in general and not working on anything past Win98, it's not much better. The resolution is hgiher, sure, but the poly counts are the same, the textures are just as low-res, and all that other stuff.

*bangs head* My freaking NES can generate a thousand enemies over the course of a level. I thought you meant a thousand active at once. Don't waste people's time with stupid crap. It's probably that there's 250 ACTIVE objects. With more than 2 models up. Oh, quit being a retard.

Fopr the love of... USE ENTER! WHITE SPACE IS YOUR FRIEND! SEPERATE DIFFRENT IDEAS WITH BLANK LINES! What I ment is that because of that feature Divx is not bought since it would ahh ugh...like no one would buy since playing the DVDs they buy might not even work with it. Divx the disk format wasn[t bought because no one wanted to pay an extra hundred dollars for their player just so they could be required to phone in every time they wanted to watch a movie. Divx the video codec has never been marketed comercially, though it is a subset of the MPEG4 format developed for DTV broadcasts(though it was ultimately determined MPEG2 would be just fine). Again... *shrugs* No system ever has been pushed to the limits. Most are retired just as things start to get interesting. I don't find it impressive that they can do a lot of objects without slowdown. To the contrary, I find it expected for such a late title in the system's life. Just because most PS2 titles have no need for a thousand enemies active at once is no reason to find the presence of such impressive.

So the Robotech folks didn't exercise any excess imagination in translating the episode titles then huh? :-) Not this time, anyways...

I've heard people describe it as a batarang. Or a pair of penii with buttons. I just see a GameCube with a borked layout. No....I ment SPIDERMAN! It has the Spidey thing shape in it I can just sense it when looking at it. Man JBO you didnt even get that *hides behind chair* . Congratulations. You just described Divx. Funny thing... no one bought Divx. 332740 I did Yes. No they don't. The service has been non-functional for years. And now we're into a totally diffrent thing. That's a video codec named after the movie disk. A. Because games don't magically begin sucking as they age. B. Good is debatable in this case. *shrugs* What? You're making no sense here.

seems reduntant and confusing it sounded better the first time they said 332730 Both HD DVD and BD players are expected to have some type of broadband connectivity option (sorta like how DIVX was originally supposed to work, the difference being it's not necessary). The PS3 is a prime example. 332733 But that's a function of the sofware and hardware, not the media. Divx was proprietary encrypted data on DVD, for example. No one would argue DVD had internet connectivity because Divx used DVDs and called home. So we're back to it's just stupid.

Nice! ... Am I the only person that things the Wing Zero Custom looks better WITHOUT the wings?

It's NINJA Squadron.

STEALTH! That was actually a fun movie. Way better than I expected.

WHOO! Agreed wholeheartedly. Attention world! If you DO use a song, TRY to make it a subtle one. You tried tapping old arcade games? I use Asteroids and Battlezone for my IM sound effects.

It's Transformation in Macross too, amazingly.

Slight correction - the GAU-8 is 7 barrels, not 9. Also, its designed to hit tanks from their more vunerable sides and rear, not the front - traditionally the most heavily armoured part of a tank; there are reports of modern American tanks surviving direct hits from Russian-type 125 mm guns on the front. I thought the A-10 usually struck at the top...

Just remembered. My MSIE start page(and Mozilla's start page on my secondary comp) is The Philosophy Of Sinistar/

Or game sound effects. Nothing says cellphone ringer like baby Mario screaming his lungs out.

I'm still waiting for Binaltech handguns. ... Yes, I keep pushing for a faithful Megatron just to annoy the PC people.

Which is what I was saying. Marketing, not the mecha designers, is responsible for the absurdly out-of-proportion weaponry. The mech designers just make the best mech they can within the confines of the license. Goes all the way back to the original. The plan was white powered armor, and marketing demanded brightly-colored mecha.
-
I was under the impression it had more to do with marketing being responsible for making the weapon calibers up than any real problem with the designers(not that some of them AREN'T clearly insane anyways). Even Kawamori's own Gundams(he's listed as the designer of the GP-01 and GP-02) have the weapon size issues. And as you said, he knows his stuff.

Not as good to hear as "Kutaragi's whacked, we're selling this thing for *reasonable sum here*" but it beats the hell out of "not for households."

If sheer stupidity were enough to guarantee a cinematic failure, theaters would be a LOT emptier.
