  1. Ratchet and Ironhide's derigns make sense... as the human-operated maintenance vehicles they were designed as. More than anything else in the line, they did not fit the Transformers conceit of "intelligent" self-operating alien robots. I think the concept behind them is really cool, but an absolutely terrible fit for Transformers. I do hope the new Diaclone line revisits them in the same way it has redone Convoy.
  2. This might be why I've gotten a "vinyl statue" feeling from the third MP Starscream. I thought it was just down to slavish toon-accuracy being not my cup of tea, but an overly-large torso would push it over the edge into puffy caricature.
  3. nVidia had basically designed the hardware for them. The Switch hardware was basically what would have been the Shield Tablet 2. OBVIOUSLY, there's far more profit to be had as a supplier of a Nintendo console than as an Android tablet manufacturer, so nVidia was all too willing to cancel ShieldTab2 as part of the Switch deal.
  4. That is good news! I hope they bring the same love of Robocop that they did to Terminator... and that they're given a chance to shine at retail. Their Terminator game was critically savaged for no apparent reason, and it scared a lot of folks off.
  5. "Why the heck did you bring an obsolete VF-19 out here?" "I assure you that pilot can fly rings around everything in space with it. And he refuses to fly anything else."
  6. They're going back to the 80s so Picard can secretly be instrumental in Kirk's attempt to save the whales.
  7. Honestly, the reason for 1080p BluRay is practical business. It would be nice if there was also a 2160p release, but I don't think there's enough market demand to create and ship two versions. And the market penetration of UHD players isn't high enough for a UHD-only release of a niche anime-adjacent production to make sense. Disappointing to be sure, but understandable. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they only have 1080p scans to work with due to shortsighted decisions made during the last remastering, and not enough cash on the project to rescan at 2160 lines* and clean and restore everything again. *(or scan at a forward-looking 4320 lines, like they probably should have done last time) There will be no excuse for using the hacked audio with mangled sound effects, though!
  8. I woulda leaned hard into the naming sense of the Marvel and Star Wars crossover lines and named them 'Sue' and 'Muldoon'. But what do I know?
  9. Here's a bold proposal: Bumblebee is actually a remake of the first half of Bayformers 1. The part that ends when Bumblebee introduces the humans to the rest of the autobots. The key differences are that the scriptwriter actually knows something about Transformers, the director isn't in love with explosions and potty humor and jumpcuts, and the characters are all actual PEOPLE with motivations, story arcs, and growth(what a novel idea!). But everyone involved fits into pretty much the exact same niche at the start, with Shatter and Dropkick splitting Barricade's role to give the bad guys a reason to have lines. And then if we luck out, Beast Wars gets to be a remake of the second half, and we can all pretend Bayformers never happened.
  10. I always liked the taskbar on the side, but it was always clear I was a second-class citizen when I did it. I finally gave up on it, and I suspect at this point MS is mostly concerned about people accidentally moving their taskbar and freaking out.
  11. Eh? Japan seemed far more gung-ho about the Pretenders than the US, having given them an actual cartoon and everything. And the shells weren't gummy(except for that one Decepticon combiner). It really seems to me like Takara was doing weird things and Hasbro was along for the ride. Same thing that created headmasters, powermasters, targetmasters, and micromasters.
  12. Oh, hey. It looks like there might be clearance on those panels to fold lion legs in on top of them or below them. Be nice to have the option of being toon-accurate OR right toy-accurate. Clever bit of engineering on those hinges. Curious how they keep them from being fiddly and fragile.
  13. At least LCDs don't flicker, in general. Can't use a computer CRT at 60 Hz, never have been able to. (Far as graphics adapters, I've got a Radeon 480. Was starting to consider an upgrade when buttcoin diggers and plague effects reduced supply to essentially zero. High-res gaming with anything modern is just straight-up off the table. )
  14. If it was 1080p, I'd be with you. But, all other things being equal, I think I'd rather have 1440p@170 than 2160p@60.
  15. I'm hoping Hasbro's learned to keep a leash handy so they maintain some creative oversight.
  16. Honestly, I thought they were questionable as heck until I saw the picture of them snapped together. They make a fairly neat-looking split-barrel cannon. But yeah, they're probably really meant to go with Unicron.
  17. Wow. I'm surprised Big West is willing to work with them after the Zero thing. Hmm... I wonder if the change in management is related to this.
  18. I'm going the time travel thing too, and watching Sega and Tatsunoko's unrepentantly mediocre Lazer Tag toy commercial "Red Photon Zillion". It's... not great, by any means. But amusing. Sometimes unintentionally so.
  19. I think you've uncovered a huge conspiracy here! How deep does this go? Seriously, though. This is pretty amusing.
  20. Oh no... that's Brofessor's site.
  21. Ohhhhh. I see why the green lion looks so boxy. It's the panels hiding the lion legs that are doing it. ... Can't tell if those panels fold away somehow or if they're additional pieces that just snap on when hiding the legs is desired.
  22. I do not disagree with you at all. I just couldn't resist the opportunity to quote the opening. I'm less disappointed by these figures because, frankly, I never expected to see new Silverhawks figures in the first place. I'm pleasantly surprised there's enough demand to justify making figures at all, even if the lack of any sort of metallic effect is a downer.
  23. I just want it noted that I'm scoring their sound direction 0/10 solely because there wasn't a reverb effect when Adam shouted "I have the power!". But using "I Need a Hero" for the commercial was nice.
