1. 'Tis true. You don't want to be standing behind him. Graham 352515 I suppose power goes out to his entire block when he takes a shower, too.
2. *chuckles* DeJap took a LOT of flak over some parts of that translation(the amount of bitching people will do over some huorous inn names is amazing). But it was still a pretty decent job. And heck, being able to tell what's going on kicks ass.
3. VP's battle engine is fun, but simplistic. I love the raw STYLE you can inject into a fight. ... And the overattack indicator has been known to send me into a frantic button-mashing fit as I try to get a sluggish combo gauge up before the end of the turn, just so I can chain killer moves on my already defeated foe(especially if I can get great magic into the chain). Yes, I AM the guy that has lost to bosses in Megaman because he had to kill them with a megabuster shot(Hmmm... we're both at one pellet, one hit with anything will kill either of us, he's going into attack animation now... let's change to the peashooter and charge it!). For genuine depth of combat, I prefer something with a little more complexity, though VP is definitely fun. Most of my favorite RPGs aren't menu-driven. If the game had been done by ANYONE else, I'd've been annoyed that it didn't stick with the Symphony of the Night style of play evoked by stabbing enemies to enter battle. tri-Ace is one of the few companies that can make menus an enjoyable experience, though. I genuinely don't understand how people can have so many problems with AI characters. Mine have always behaved fairly rationally. But for the record, I think that the Tales series peaked at Destiny. I can only judge the english games, but SNES Phantasia is TOO simplistic for my tastes, and "Destiny 2" gets just complicated enough to suck most of the fun out of the fights, IMO. Destiny lands right at a warm fuzzy spot in the middle. It's like Goldilocks, only with swords and fireballs! Haven't played Symphonia yet, but I gather it's a lot like Star Ocean 2. Which isn't a BAD thing, but it's not as much fun with the wider battlefields slowing everything down(a lot of my fun in the SO games comes from the out-of-combat stuff). And as worthless trivia: The Tales of Phantasia team left Namco after ToP and formed tri-Ace. Hence why Star Ocean feels so much like Tales with a 2D battlefield.
4. Actually, I'm pretty sure the one I dropped earlier was worse. It smelled it, anwyays. STEALTH!
5. Have you played Tales of Destiny? IMO, it's every bit as fun. Could slap 'em with seagulls. Once you get mental reaction they have a lot more to do, just because they can act every other turn. A lot more reliable than running up combos and hoping the mages pulled enough purple gems. I hope diffrent. Not that Nibelung Valesti wasn't awesome(second form = favorite. The energy glops added onto form 3 didn't really do anything for me), but I'd like to see something fresh. Aside from just being something new, it'd emphasize the diffrence between valkyries. Hmmm... that makes me think... they can recycle a fair bit of cast based on what I saw of the Hrist backstory. Who do we want to see preincarnated? I'm voting for Aelia. She was one of my favorite characters, and I was kinda disappointed that her backstory wasn't developed to any degree. ... Crap, tri-Ace pulled a lot of stuff off their site with the redesign. Was gonna yank some of the old artwork down. Not that I can't find it elsewhere, it'll just take a hair more effort now.
6. FF11 is the antithesis of everything the FF name is associated with. IMO, Square(now Squeenix) needs to just retire the name. Sadly, people will buy anything and everything that carries a big name. Even a complete turd like FF8 makes best seller lists everywhere.
7. I put a google link to her on the bottom of my 'sig. 352464 Which is why we love you.
8. The truth is... he'd only gone bald right before the series started. And it took him 2 years to get over his scalp.
9. THE GAMEPLAY IS INTACT! COMBO GAUGE AND EVERYTHING! BUTTON MASHERS OF THE WORLD REJOICE! 2 new gauges... I hope they don't complicate things excessively. Not a big fan of the 3D characters, but the backgrounds look nice. I hope they keep it to sidescroller maps, though.
10. Keith IS a doorknob. 351112 Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk! 351317 Is that a line from a song you heard at a gay club? 352045 Yeah, wasn't that the one you were dancing to while being sandwitched between 2 hairy biker's? 352247 Like I said before, just keep posting. Each time you hit "Add Reply" you reinforce the thoughts that all members have about you. 352340 That it's a bottomless well of amusement when you two go at it?
11. Please... nothing can match the glory tht is ProgressQuest!
12. Hrmm... pearl-white, kinda like the Saturn and Dreamcast? 351999 The Saturn was silver in prototypes, dark grey in Japan, black in the US, then the redesigned one(with round buttons) was white for NiGHTS, and the US redesign was black again. 352082 And let me say right now... the metallic one was DAMN sexy.
13. Mine sucked because I couldn't bear to Google it any longer. I'm not like A1. My masculinity is damaged by looking at pages and pages of raw homosexuality. So I snatched whatever I could find off the first page and ran.
14. Its like watching an 80s action movie. Just you know, not a good one. 352108 But the bad ones are the best kind! I KNEW there was a good reason for the Hello Kitty massager! SanRio: Giving guys leverage through cleverly-disguized sex toys.
15. Congratulations.
16. The one at LikSang actually taps the RGB, instead of photographing the LCD. It's a lot like the old TVBoys, or whatever they called those GBA TV adapters. And I'm doubting a PSP home adapter will come out. It's POSSIBLE, but not likely.
17. Whoa now, Max is considered a stud in Macross. Hik even gets a bit jealous when Max threatens to swoop on Minmei. Doesn't he even boast he's a great singer or was that just in Robotech? He doesn't boast, but he DOES volunteer to sing in his commander's place(Longest Birthday, I believe. Hikaru neglects to bring Minmay a present, and she demands he sing for her guests as pennance). I always thought Max looked cool... Anyways, it's not that Hikaru's a nice guy so much as he's hopelessly inept in personal relationships.
18. And Graham has turned to the Gundam side of the force, and now goes by the name of Darth Zeta Custom.
19. Another for Virgin Road. It's a major plot point in the series, it's a Millia-heavy episode(fanboy alert), I WANT to like it, but the animation makes my eyes bleed.
20. Major corrections: SquareEnix is neither developing nor porting. tri-Ace is developing one and porting the other. Squeenix is merely the publisher.
21. Different animation group. Her ears are slightly pointy but not really that pointy according to the lineart. Blame the animators. 351626 If I recall, they drew Millia's ears a little pointy through the entire series.
22. What. The. Hell? I want to know what these people are smoking, and if they'll share.
23. Tatsunoko has to fold for Big West to reacquire all rights. Remember, HG is licensed by Tatsunoko, not directly from Big West. 351201 It's a lot more complicated than that. 1. HG is co-owner with Tat. It was originally a license, but htey eventually became co-owners. 2. Even if Tat and HG fold, that doesn't mean that BW automatically get the rights. Corporation law doesn't work that way. The assets of the company are distributed to the shareholders (i.e., Agrama and whoever are the shareholders of Tat). That, or the assets are liquidated, then distributed. 3. Even if Agrama is in trouble, that has nothing to do with HG. A company is a separate and distinct "person". If it has doesn't anything illegal, it can't be held responsible for anything Agrama might have done independently. 351291 Forgot about 1. 2 depends, as I understand things. But Big West has an interest in purchasing it themselves anyways, so they'd pr'ly make a strong effort to get whatever Macross-related stuff showed up for sale. 3 is, strictly speaking, true. But major shakeups in the leadership tend to not be good for business. I can't see the article, and the only other one on Google News isn't coming up either. What did Agrama do in connection with Berlusconi? And will it be enough to give them the commuppance trhey deserve for shady (but ultimately legit) business practices with regards to Macross and other properties? Basically... Agrama bought movie TV rights cheap. Berlusconi bought them expensive from Agrama. And then they split the diffrence. Which is stupid until you realize Berlusconi was using this as a way to avoid paying taxes on 275 million dollars of income(plus whatever tax breaks he got for his fraudulent business expenses). It would be good for ADV. This sort of thing tends to make companies worth a lot less. Right where it is now. With a big question mark over it. Presumably ADV would get the license if they bought HG. How ADV would proceeed to handle it is anyone's guess.
24. Slacker!
