Freud doesn't care. He thinks EVERYTHING is about screwing your mother. But you aren't exactly helping your case with the MILF comment....

I think it's a double-tap on the transformation control. I don't play multiplayer really, so I only loaded it up once just to see what it looked like. As well as let you swap planes and paintjobs out. Was kind of annoying to have to drop back to the menu after unlocking the 1J, then again for FAST packs. That was my point, really. In a Macross game with variable mdoes, you have to construct a level FOR the GBP to stand much of a chance of deploying it successfully. Blasted flighter jet freaks always ruining my fun!

And I don't even want to THINK about how big a yield those things had, given they were a step up from the Mac7 cannon, which was presumably of similar class to the original SDF-1 cannon.

I'm more refferring to LD, Super VHS, VCD, and whatever else there was at the time that tried to dethrone VHS. Sure some formats were better (S-VHS & LD), but none managed to make a dent for 20 years. I just don't think people are maliable enough to accept a new format within 10 years of its launch. I think that the move to HDTV will provide fuel. The home theater market in the US is a lot stronger than it was pre-DVD. And unfortunately, both may end up cancelling each other out. While this is all common for the video game industry, the home video market has always been different. 414804 I'm expecting something more like VHS VS Beta. One format ultimately won and went on to dominate.

Probably something about how you wanted to sleep with your mother. Freud was pretty messed up.

Nice! Thanks for the clip. I always wanted to see that battle in a clear transfer... and without the horrible english dubbing they put on the original bootlegs. 414593 Hahaha.....they shot each other with their pea shooters that did almost no damage. Then proceeded with a brawl. Their cassete bots did nothing but stood in the background. Rodimus: "Broado-casto!!!" Galvatron: "Soundo-waver!!! RArrrghhh!" LOLOLOLOLLO!!! 414630 Don't forget the opening line, where Soundwave sends Laserbeak out and shouts "ERECT!"

The battroid can't fly worth crap in Battlecry. In aerial-mode missions, it's essentially stationary. In terrestrial missions it should be considered ground-based with some jumping capacity. Anything requiring any signifigant aerial movement fails automatically. And most missions assume some level of aerial capability. That's where the GBP fails. It also can't lift things like Battlecry GERWALK does, making it incompatible with all fetch&carry missions. Speed is less of an issue than you make it to be, since the battroid has a "rollerskate" boost. It's still not gonna keep up with the fighter, but it becomes GERWALK-competitive. GBP is already jettisonable. I don not consider it to be a workable option if you are forced to eject it to proceed. Particularly as in some areas you will be forced to eject it almost immediatly. Bonuses DO have to follow the rules. If a bonus is incapable of clearing the mission due to maneuverability restrictions, it's not much of a bonus. It'd be like beating Super Mario Whatever and being rewarded with... a version of Mario that can't jump. Like I said... play the game and see how many missions you can actually get through without using GERWALK or fighter mode. THEN tell me the GBP is actually workable in story mode. If it was genuinely viable, they would've expended the effort to make it so. The thing's already coded, so all the models, textures, and behavior patterns are set. That's the hardest part. The same frontend is used for both solo and multiplayer mode, so the code to toggle through the GBP is already there. It was just a matter of adding a "GBP-compatible" flag, fixing the FAST pack bug(or not, since the GBP can be jetissoned), and hacking out cutscenes and over-riding default modes for GBP users(to prevent immediate auto-jettison). The hacking out and over-riding might have been very easy or very difficult, depending on how they wrote the engine. I still maintain it would actually work in under a dozen stages, which is why it was never done.

Because recordings don't capture the actual spirit of the performance, and thus do not channel the anima spiritia, or do so less effectively than a live show. 414621 the sound has to be broken down and transmitted digitally to the speakerpods anyway. how is that any diffrent than recording a "live" show and transmitting it. i could understand if hearing him in person somehow made it a stronger effect but since its over speakers one way or another i don't understand the significance. 414633 It delves out of the purely physical at this point. A live performance is still a live show, regardless of if it's in person or broadcast. A tape recording of a live show lacks the same "liveness." Sure it's physically identical, but spiritia isn't exactly physical, is it? In Macross 7, the actual spirit of the artist matters. And the Macross 7 crew can't record spirit(though the Protodeviln are probably halfway there. Tangent: In reality, recordings of live shows are typically either really crappy bootlegs or the same tweaked and polished releases you get on a normal album. Hardly the same as an actual live performance. Heck, some people don't even actually sing at their live shows, and just lip-sync. Or they sing, but still have a team backstage with pitchbenders and whatnot polishing everything. In Macross 7, this would be the Jamming Birds performance. Sure it's live, but it's a soul-less manufactured live. Not that Basara would be caught dead doing any of the above. Crappy bootleg is closest to his style, but the music would lose a lot in the process. Saving Private Ryan's Canteen would be a blatant spoof. And quite likely hilarious if Hollywood didn't screw it up too badly. And I think bad story + laser rifles would = Gundam Wing. Macross 7 used bullets.

"Robotech: The Macross Saga" It's a blatant knockoff of the PS/Saturn DYRL game, without any of the charm of the original. Missile button shoots a single large bullet straight in front of you(WTF? The freaking FamiCom did better than that), the pre-rendered sprites look BAD, the entire game is pretty sluggish, and the destroid stages were tacked-on and half-assed. On the upside... you can play as a QRau... but it doesn't suck any less. And... there's link play... but only on the aforementioned halfassed destroid levels, so it's not really useful... Ummm.... Errrr... It comes with a SD VF-1A Max figurine? THERE WE GO! An upside.

Which is currently exactly how DVD was at launch. Pretty much my point of view. Especially since there's an ugly format war brewing(I currently have no faith in the ability of 2 mass-market formats to get along and play nicely).

Ooooh, that IS pretty.

Not me. Certainly not at current prices. Heck, I don't even have an HD-compatible display yet(might own one soon, though). ... Except my computer monitor, which is a tad small for moviewatching.

It seems to work for me too, though I haven't made a lot of use of it. I've got no idea what's going on with your end(s). The thing IS mis-identified, though.

You forgot combinations! It's got Snake gore! Snake death! Snake nudity! Samuel L. Jackson covered in naked dead snake gore on a motherfu©king plane!

He's based on the old Soundblaster. Soundblaster in G1 was Soundwave coming back after he and Blaster killed each other(Blaster came back also but instead of red he was blue). Soundblaster in g1 could also hold 2 tapes in his chest rather than just 1. 414569 So someone DID realize that Blaster and Soundwave needed to have the Ultimate DJ Battle of Destiny?... Nah, it was probably fought with laser guns.

If the guitar isn't controlling it, what is? This isn't Robotech and it's not a YF-21--the pilot doesn't control fine movements with his brain. It's the guitar. 414536 I don't think it's really an issue of if he's using the guitar as his controls(he clearly is, they even take time out to demonstrate that the guitar has function keys for things such as the EVIL DISGUSTING MISSILES OF DEATH AND DISCOMFORT!111), so much as if he can actually fly while performing. If the sound track is accurate(which it pretty obviously isn't at points), the music continues even while the pilot isn't playing, so Sound Force's VFs have pre-recorded versions of the instrumental portions. Only reason I can think of is that it isn't possible to fly and play guitar at the same time even with a guitar stick. Unrelated: Speaking of guitar controllers... If someone does a Macross 7 version of Guitar Hero or GuitarFreaks, I will laugh my gluteus maximus off.

http://www12.brinkster.com/stratoct/HaruhiTheater.htm Apparently one of the short stories written for magazine publication. Haruhi plays RPGs the way I've always thought they should be played.

He recognizes that it doesn't. And assumes the failing is his. The enemy is forced to listen. His gunpod shoots radios. So he knows they're listening. And no, I'm not making that up. He's allowed to continue for the same reason he owns a VF19... someone high up in the chain of command likes him(though I don't believe Basara is aware that's how he got the jet, he seems to just think Ray is awesome++).
-
But Kaifun was an anal sphincter. Basara's just nuts.

Yes, yes, we all know the wings are missing. Though I barely noticed it in the game.I can't believe that a minor liberty with the character model makes the entire development studio suck. There's no good way to implement the GBP. It just doesn't work for most stages in the game. The handful it WILL work in would just leave people whining about "Battlecry sucks because I can only use the GBP in 6 stages" or whatever the actual count winds up being. Don't believe me? Start playing levels battroid-exclusive, and tally it up. 3 lines of code will leave you with a horribly broken implementation without signifigant changes in several other functions. As things exist, there's one status bit: Space mission. This is likely the only thing that reported about stage contents outside the game engine(because it's needed for FAST pack authenticism). You COULD add a second status bit for "GBP-compatible stage", but it's not worth the effort for the minimal stages it's useful in. Especially since it forces you to fix the existing "FAST pack in atmosphere" logic bug, which probably exists because FAST packs weren't intended to be optional when they coded the frontend. While the FAST pack bug doesn't cause any actual problems, the GBP bug WOULD. So GBP in story mode results in a major overhaul to the frontend for a fanservice feature that is only USABLE in maybe a dozen levels and actually a valid option in even fewer. The QRau at least has GERWALK functionality. I'm not sure where you got the low-budget argument, BTW. I don't see any evidence that it was low-budget, just that it was forced out the door before it was completely finished(Which happens a LOT, especially with games released in November. The holiday season has doomed many games.). If you can provide a reference, I'd be interested. As near as I can tell, the board just hates the game because it's Robotech. The rest of the world had a lot of fun with it, and I don't really see how "Wingless battroid and no GPB" makes the game crap. If you want to gripe about a game, let's dogpile the GBA Robotech game. THAT ONE deserves it.

Global was being stingy with the big guns. He saves his reaction warheads until the final battle, then burns them all in one giant suicide attack(aside from the Valk-mounted RMS-1). There were also tactical concerns, as seen in the first episode. The initial nuking of the zentradi in the first strike left most of their sensors blind.

They aren't dying. The VF-11 has working ejection systems. They may be getting turned into brain-dead zombie vegetables, but they aren't dying.

Ah. I haven't played any of the polygonal CVs, so I can't say. I rememer they had an unlockable Belmont in Aria of Sorrow. He was as bad as Richter. Game development usually runs about a year and a half. Past that, things start getting dated rather rapidly, as hardware cycles out or knowledge of hardware exploits advances. Yah. Prometheus is TV, ARMD is DYRL. ARMD is also supposed to be "hard mode" if I recall. I hope it picks up for you too. ... I need to pick that one up still. And quit laughing about the special-cased gameover if you fly Kakizaki's VF in the level he dies in.
