  1. But if Max is #1, and Max says Basara is almost as good as he is... doesn't that make Basara an elite due to expert testimony? *throws some more fuel on the fire* Guld should be lowered on similar grounds. I demand Kawamori do a non-canon cross-temporal free-for-all. Macross: Arena would be the BEST OVA EVER.
  2. If I recall, that was one of the things they got out of Rare. And Rare claims they created it while they were working for Nintendo. Regardless, it's pretty obvious that they only added them to the 360 to get a VS Wii bullet-point.
  3. I've seen those before. It boggles the mind.
  4. I'd just ignored it most of the time and assumed they stuck to the armor and transmitted to the inside through vibration. It made me feel better.
  5. Me too!
  6. Grabbed a Universe Cyclonus today. ... Am I the only person incredibly disappointed... because the first step in the instructions is to fold up the nosecone and reveal the head? It's probably due to watching way too much Voltron, but it just seems wrong for the head to not be at the end of the transformation. And WTF? He only has a gun hole in his right hand. That's just strange any way you slice it.
  7. Emulation never really seemed to affect prices much. Remember, Chrono Trigger's peak value was while SNES emulation was being featured in mainstream print media. On the other hand, the guys that dumped the NES Earthbound game DID have to pay an arm and a leg to the guy that owned the prototype. He was concerned all the ROM images would make his only existing english cartridge(with a game-killing bug) less valuable. Don't forget that Terranigma has TV type detection, and will ONLY boot at 50Hz. Despite the fact, if I recall correctly, that it wasn't optimized for 50Hz play, so it runs slower than it should. It's really rather strange, since almost all TV type detection on the SNES was to prevent the Europeans from importing US games. And as someone that LOVED Illusion of Gaia(crappy Enix US translation and all), I've always been disappointed that it never made it over here.
  8. To be fair, I don't think that's the big problem, so much as the pink hair and Gubaba on the shoulder. But given her father successfully used an upturned collar it to camouflage a VF-1A, she may have a genetic gift for stealth in spite of her hair.
  9. Yeah. Games are REALLY variable when they're still fresh. And calling which ones are going to become valuable is pretty hard to do. I haven't paid a lot for most of my used games. I think I coughed up 40 for my Chrono Trigger cart at a Funcoland many moons ago, and that's my peak. Some of them currently have a good bit more resale value than I spent, though. On a related note, I am pleased to note that my original copy of Lunar 2 apparently did not lose value when the PS1 remake hit. It warms my fanboy heart. (It's possible that the game was as out-of-control as Chrono Trigger and Valkyrie Profile were before they got ported, and I just don't know it. But I don't think it was, given I never heard anyone but me speaking of it in religious terms.)
  10. EVO isn't exactly the most common game around. Enix America always was incompetent. It's also a pretty cool one by most counts(I've never played it), which helps a lot. eBay's pretty luck of the draw. Prices get inflated horribly sometimes, and sometimes they get massively undervalued. I hope those 60+ offers are for complete games and not just carts, though. But yeah... I've got some games worth a few pennies and some worth...a whole LOT of pennies. And some that were worth a lot more pennies before they got ported/reissued/remade. Chrono Trigger, I'm looking at you!
  11. Thank the Froating Head. Can you imagine if the battroid... ... Let's just stop there. I don't want to think about it.
  12. You mean the little metal beady thing over his nose? That's only seen when he's in the cockpit, and never when he's outside of the plane? The one that's part of the helmet, and can even be seen in Max's helmet in Macross 7, despite the VF-22 not having BDI/BCS? Conveniently ignoring that Guld is a complete loon, and this has been covered up all during the trials DESPITE the fact that it makes him unfit to fly a plane controlled by a neural interface. SOME part of Guld's brain had to have an exact series of actions planned, because "push down" is WAY too vague to generate a series of control inputs. Computers can't think(except Sharon Apple), and if you tell a computer "push down" it will ask for more detail. The part that might show the BDI/BCS being failure-prone is immediately before the crash. When Guld sees Isamu, totally flips out, loses control of his battroid, and nearly crashes himself. Again, though, it's dependent on Guld being a complete loon.
  13. I don't think so. That role was filled by the non-variable Cat's Eye recon plane. Best known for getting smacked with an asteroid and then captured while Misa was riding shotgun. But I'm not 100% sure.
  14. Saskatchewan. Because it's fun to say.
  15. Actually, the variable-camber wings weren't intended for the production model even if the YF-21 won. "Composite materials (based upon OTM theories) which are capable of increasing or decreasing the wing cross section and area with feedback from the pilot's brainwaves. Due to the high cost and problems in the construction of the main wing's complex structure, this technology is not intended for mass production." Snatched from the Compendium. Also, that's not as crazy a technology as it sounds. That was the ORIGINAL way planes maneuvered, bu deforming the wing surface. Flaps came later, as a response to stiffer wings. I don't think the BDI/BCS needs surgery. I think it's a "wireless" system. And I didn't see any evidence that the system pushed Guld over any threshold. The VF-11 wreck just showed that if you stick crazy people in planes, bad stuff happens. Not that the system was inherently flawed.
  16. Man, shutting down the easy joke before anyone even makes it... that's just mean.
  17. Windows doesn't have an integrated image burner. You're gonna need something else. I use Nero, because it was free with my writer. Or my motherboard. Maybe both. Several somethings came with it.
  18. While I REALLY want to see the knife fight reanimated, let's be honest here. The show is so 80s "near-future" that it'd take more than reanimating to make it appealing to a new generation. We need more angst, Kaifun has to be RIGHT when he blames the military for everything that went wrong, the aliens have to be ecoterrorists trying to save the world from humanity... What else do they need to change to bring this into the 21st century?
  19. Whatchu talkin' about? The 80s style is awesome! Disco is not dead!
  20. That's what I expect happened. He's probably a hero of some sort now. Results matter, not motivation.
  21. BluRay players WILL upsample a DVD, but that doesn't really change the fact that the source image is low resolution.
  22. Metroid Prime 3 is decent. The subfranchise has been going steadliy downhill, but it's still good. Well, it'd have to be a complete GameBoy in a cart, like the old Super GameBoy. There's no way to shift the GBA hardware in the DS into 8-bit mode(assuming the 8-bit hardware is still present), and the ROMs communicate use different voltages than the GBA mode even if they were understandable. Not that it'd really be hard to do. I've seen other devices that dump audio and video straight into the DS before, and an 8-bit GameBoy is CHEAP hardware at this point. The big problem is convincing Nintendo there's money to be had there.
  23. Mine too. There's no way that Basara can hold a candle to Kaifun.
  24. Either way, it kicks off a host of OTHER commonly-asked questions like "Kawamori needs to write more of them! WE WANT MORE!" Which isn't even a question. THAT is why she hypnotizes people. Let their imaginations make up for her physical shortcomings. Someone start this as a thread!
  25. Maybe, but there's a difference. BluRay players can play DVDs. CD players can't play cassettes. If the transition DOES occur, it'll take a LOT longer.
