  1. "We wrote him as dead at end of season, but now we're making a second season! Quick, find a fix!"
  2. PSVR1 has a SteamVR driver, despite being kinda weird. But it was developed by hobbyists, not Sony. I expect to see a PSVR2 driver for SteamVR, but no telling when. It's nice hardware, and I'd like to see it liberated. I do understand why Sony doesn't have an interest in supporting this themselves, though they did put out packages for developers wanting to support the PS4 and PS5 controllers if I recall correctly. They clearly aren't COMPLETELY indifferent to Windows gaming.
  3. I am assuming that the PSVR1 API exposes too many low-level details about hardware that functions very differently. I'm sure Sony didn't want to break compatibility, especially as it is a major feature of the PS5. But I also know that pretty much every aspect of the PSVR2 is fundamentally different. They don't even have the same number of screens(PSVR1 had a single LCD, PSVR2 has independent OLED panels). Unless they were careful with the design of the original API to abstract every facet of the hardware away, it could easily be impossible to make hardware that is back-compatible while also being a meaningful improvement.
  4. I've always been annoyed by the "odd movie rule", mostly due to Search For Spock. This is very tangental, but... it needed to be said.
  5. That's the name of the largest meeting room in the Department of Temporal Affairs.
  6. Makes sense. No flaws in this reasoning.
  7. "Transporter splits Kirk into two people."
  8. Yeah, well... Quark always did think he was much hotter crap than he actually was.
  9. Quark resents that. Amateurs have criminal records, professionals don't get caught.
  10. It seems worth noting that cameraderie even existed in Voyager, where half the crew was supposed to be arrested by the other half. Granted, it's considered a large flaw in the show that they brushed aside a justifiable interpersonal conflict to put the maquis into Starfleet uniforms, but if people who are ACTUALLY enemies can set it aside and work together that easily, why can't Discovery's crew?
  11. Oh, that's BRUTAL with phaser fire. They're supposed to be matched to the frequency of the shields so starships can fire out through their shields. If you can send them back by thinking with portals, it'll be landing on an effectively unshielded vessel. ... Assuming that's canon this week, of course.
  12. Heck yeah! Who needs functional hands when you have arm-guns?
  13. So what you're saying is you need the search for Spock? Nah. If the next person in charge declares them non-canon for convenience, people take such declarations weirdly seriously for a franchise that historically has trouble keeping things consistent from week to week.
  14. Man, that's replaced "more than meets the eye" as the brand slogan at this point.
  15. One of my favs too. I do think it is interesting to note that after the movie came out; some publications insisted the Enterprise actually changed class during her refit(to the Enterprise-class, naturally). So this bit of silliness isn't new to Trek, even if they've stretched it farther this time.
  16. You know what the worst thing is about Frenzy Frieza Freezer? I love the concept, but the execution is just terrible. He turns into an artillery piece for smaller toys, or a rifle WITH AN ACTUAL SHOULDER STOCK for larger ones. And the stock's adjustable enough to fit a good range of arms. This should be cool as heck, but... no, he just looks like Kickback had a seizure.
  17. Tow chains. No, seriously. Hear me out. Space folds can pick up other things in the vicinity, and that vicinity can be surprisingly large. A "tow truck" ship with an intentionally oversized fold drive specifically designed to pull up near another vessel and fold with it is well within the realm of plausibility. Even if it requires a "disposable" drive to make a huge-volume fold, like what happened when the Macross took off with an island, the destruction of a fold drive to secure a factory satellite seems like a good trade.
  18. Madness. More than anything else, THIS makes me want Picard to have not happened. Just making sure!
  19. To be clear, I was making crap up. But Riker's not a normal Starfleet officer. He's former commander, and temporarily captain, of the Enterprise. I don't believe any Enterprise bridge officer went on to have a normal, uneventful career, least of all aer transporter-cloned borg-desimillating first officer. If the Ent-D's former crew isn't all on several watch lists, then the Federation's not doing due diligence. I have no trouble believing his first command survived as long as the Enterprise-A.
  20. Dammit, Sega. Why you gotta be dicks? I expect this sort of asshattery from Nintendo, but you're better than this.
  21. I don't object to the concept of an heir to the Constitution's legacy. Be it the Excelsior or the Ambassador or whatever, every ship designer will want to borrow from that legacy of service, particularly the legendary cruise of the 1701. But just straight-up calling it "Neo-Constitution-class" is hamfisted and ugly. Edit: And honestly, if you can't get the contract for the next Enterprise, you should be ashamed to even CONSIDER calling your design Neo-Constitution.
  22. Obviously Riker wrecked it. Probably in a desperate gambit to deal with something that would have galaxy-spanning consequences. Sadly, the details are classified pending the release of the final report from the Department of Temporal Affairs. Also: Neo-Constitution class? Just ugh.
