  1. Why I hate online play in a nutshell. That Destiny has traditional shooter multiplayer matchmaking while implementing an RPG-esque gear+skill system that ensures different people have wildly different capabilities is not HELPING, but it's not the root problem.
  2. Normal? I thought it was the best bat-guano crazy Getter Robo homage of all time. Make no mistake, I flippin' loved it, but... that was in large part because it WASN'T normal.
  3. Sakurai is pretty consistently awesome. Iwaizumi gets caught up in the main guy's harem field and simply ceases to exist for large stretches of time. When he IS around, he's a fun dude, though.
  4. I might've dropped it two episodes in if it hadn't been for Sakurai. She's a fun character, and a large part of why I plowed through the show as fast as I did. There's a lot of variablity across the run. Some episodes are MUCH better than others, but the second half is fairly decent. Episode 6 is peak stupidity, but it's also hilarious. 7-9 are a single story, and pretty much the high point of the series. Sadly, they close out with an epilogue episode of no value whatsoever. It's not dramatic, not funny, not anything. It just... is.
  5. Bungie's got a strange mix of great and terrible design going on here, really. And you can tell where they were playing to their strengths, because basically anything involving shooting is gold, but all the MMORPG stuff is godawful terrible. Would've made better sense if there was no character level system at all, and gear was everything. But it would make the poor drop rate of quality gear more visible. I can only assume that they simply expected people would spend all their time in the Crucible. That'll generate reputation and marks fast and open up m4d 1337 g34r, I guess.
  6. I should check on mine. No cracks last time I had them out, but it's been a while. And by check on them, of course, I mean marathon the series.
  7. I THINK heroic only kicks in for the daily mission on the side of the map, but don't quote me on that.
  8. Note they only tweaked the "heroic" versions of those mussions, not the regular ones.
  9. It is pretty much exactly how I imagined their graduation ceremony would go.
  10. The animation ranges from mediocre to awful. Which really makes you wonder why they bothered with all those ass shots. At least draw THOSE nicely. Do your T&A right or don't do it at all, geez. Also, if they'd called it a slice of life show, I would've never glanced at it. It's typically just a pretty way to say "show where nothing happens ever". Sometimes it gets used for "I have no idea how to describe this", but that's usually an identifiable circumstance. I watched it FOR the stupid commercial terrorist plot. But I didn't really mind the omission, since it was entertaining anyways, if not always sensical(I forgot they were "in training" and "high school students" unless the show reminded me, since they mostly treated them as fully-qualified employees... right on to being assigned as the sole bodyguards of a foreign dignitary). That said... I wonder if the animators are promoting the Sakurai relationship, or if the books are as concrete about how the harem plays out. Because, really, the anime has them all but married. I don't mind. The harem cliche can be funny, but it needs to have an endpoint. And if our hero is going for the harem ending, then own it and WRITE A HAREM ENDING. Not status quo infighting forever.
  11. What are you two talking about? A cloak is the most important gear a hunter has!
  12. For anyone that was wondering, I just want to note that Google lied. This may have been the content of the books(I make no promises, not having read them), but it darn sure isn't the content of the anime. The show is enjoyable, but smacks of being heavily abridged. Feels like important things were skipped over left and right. Standard lazy adaptation issues, really. It DOES do a good job striking a balance between "stupid people doing stupid things" and "something needs to actually HAPPEN this episode". Except episode 6. That's a giant conga line of ridiculous nonsense from start to finish. It is not exactly what I'd call must-watch programming, but... there's far worse ways to kill some time. That concludes this pocket review.
  13. It was an awesome gimmick. This is not canon. Wheeljack being wise, I mean. The face is TOTALLY canon... now. ... Why did they give Wheeljack a face? ... Screw it. Personal canon says this release isn't Wheeljack, it's Alpha Trion in a Halloween costume.
  14. Except that Darkwing Duck is better than either one of those.
  15. Maybe it has the power to make a fsck happen, even in circumstances where it was otherwise impossible? If that's the case, it's soon to be the best-selling record of all time.
  16. According to Google, it's apparently about a war with corporate terrorists over control of the trains. Which is absurd enough to make me want to watch the thing on it's own.
  17. As a fighter, I'd like Spacebrick a lot more if the Beta wasn't so awkwardly proportioned, with it's squared-off front and tiny vestigial wings. It's a stark contrast to the Alpha, which forms a relatively competent airplane. This post hopefully marks the first and last time "the Alpha is a competent airplane" will ever be said here on MacrossWorld.
  18. And if they'd had the chance to do a proper opening(which was done to a degree in the PS1/Saturn video game), people could get the same "Oh, crap, that's the Daedalus" response that Hikaru and Misa get upon finding it's wreckage. It assumes you've already watched the TV series. And to be fair, that was a pretty safe assumption for it's release, but it's not a movie you can just sit down and take in as it is.
  19. I... I was being sarcastic. I've been largely derisive the idea that St**lth is a Mac+ ripoff since the first trailer hit and the whole kerfuffle started, as the argument seems to be solely "there are two jetfighters and a crazy robot! This is TOTALLY Mac+!" Clearly with such ironclad logic, any similarities St**lth shares with other media is damning evidence that other media ALSO ripped off Macross, right? More evidence: The robot has a single glowing red eye, just like Sharon Apple.
  20. I liked Van Helsing, honestly. I admit it was ridiculously stupid all around, though. Or at least borrow more than the name next time.
  21. True. At least there's not an entire robot hang-gliding on the underside of Star Saber. *glares at Revenge of the Fallen Jetfire*
