  1. I am almost certain that he knew the difference. And that he knew enough about the franchise to know that saying "reflex" would get people up in arms, too. In short, he was trolling.
  2. I thought the black lion was the king lion and the limbs were all lionesses.
  3. Well, in fairnes, Voltron isn't a human. It's a robot designed to look like a chimera made solely of lions... in which case, why does none of them have a mane? Seriously, I think black lion needs a mane next time they redesign Voltron.
  4. I hate seeing ads for ads. Get back to me when they have a real trailer ready.
  5. The dark suit shoulder pads just made it look like it should transform into a motorcycle. ... Which is to say, obviously, that it was the most awesome version of her suit.
  6. I know I'm weird, but I'd like to see a non-varia version. The base suit is slick.
  7. It is actually possible NOW to make artificial lighting with broad-spectrum light and the needed UV components, actually. Especially if you want huge amounts of light. In fact, some modern light technologies require filters because they put out too MUCH UV. So that isn't really a problem, as it is one solvable without the benefit of overtechnology. Though I imagine that overtech makes it easier to do at much lower power levels, and to get the brightness levels needed to simulate a citywide "sun". They may cheat with a more diffuse light source plus the hologram of a sun in the sky to trick the brain into filling in the gaps, but highly directional lighting is still preferable to get shadow behaviors consistent with natural lighting.
  8. Also happens twice in Macross 7. Once during production of the (admittedly wildly inaccurate) Lynn Minmay Story, and again later on the (admittedly even more inaccurate) tabloid cover claiming Basara is the illegitimate child of Hikaru and Minmay. (I happen to be rewatching 7 lately.)
  9. Awww, let's be fair to the poor guy. He got popped before anyone realized there was an enemy in the area. Just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But he really shouldn't have been making fun of Hikaru's love life anyways. It's just too easy. Like shooting fish in a barrel.
  10. Seems reasonable to me. Let's be honest, if someone was doing a movie now about the introduction of the F-14, would they make sure they got period-appropriate planes, or would they be "Well, that's more or less what the dash looked like on the news in Desert Storm, I think it's close enough."? I fully expect to see someone do a movie about the Vietnam War in a few years with Tomcats and Blackhawks everywhere.
  11. It is definitely fun, it's just... meandered a lot as they shuffled from one seemingly pointless bit of nonsense to the other. Whether it's Joseph Joestar opening up a vein to find an invisible baby or Rohan playing the most dramatic game of Rock-Paper-Scissors ever, it is consistently awesome and inane in equal measures. The italian restaurant episode is still the best, though.
  12. First two seasons? Isn't this season five? Which is not to say I disagree, far from it.
  13. And Frontier stole it from Star Trek's "inertial dampers", and Trek probably wasn't the first with the idea.
  14. Fortunately, this is a really clear case of plagiarism because Star Wars is a completely original story that draws upon no traditional cliches at all.
  15. Still more useful than the VF-1's giant cigarette lighter!
  16. The speaker pod cannon was brutal, really. Fortunately for Basara's pacifist reputation, the only time any of the safety measures on his smart projectiles failed was in-atmosphere, and it was only the adhesive sealant so the thing just fell through the hole and landed in the cockpit floor. But let's be honest, as silly as the weapon was, it consistently punched holes in a mech roughly equivalent to a VF-14 with one round. And had they filled those things with a non-sonic warhead... a shaped charge would've made them REALLY nasty, considering the pods' ability to always strike warhead-forward even in atmosphere where I would expect such an aerodynamically-backwards projectile to tumble. I reckon a speaker pod is halfway to a micromissile already. Though I admit to being curious as to the ammo capacity with it firing such large "bullets".
  17. So is the UK version just the US version with a new box? Also: HA! Their Metroid screenshot has them fighting the fake Kraid!
  18. I tell you what, I never thought I'd see the day where mentioning 7 would get universal approval instead of starting a flame war about how terrible it was. Thank you, Delta. You have healed the community with your awfulness.
  19. DESTROID SUPREMACY!11111
  20. Mirage testing the Walkure holoprojectors, take 2. Whoa. That is AWESOME.
  21. Honestly, I was only half-joking. Aside from the name, Lady M's role in the story seemed tailor-made for Chiba. And the idea of a Chiba that took his Minmay obsession to the next level and tried to BECOME Minmay just makes me laugh, so I keep throwing it out there. I can totally see him adopting it as a code name, though.
