  1. I think you're missing the important thing here. Duke Nukem just lost his crown as most-delayed game everto be released.
  2. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The first to offer me a 1:1 VF-1 gets all the moneys.
  3. I won't deny I prefer the presentation of 2036, but it also feels better as a shooter than Scrambled Valkyrie. SV can be a very sluggish game as it plods along at its own relaxed pace, and few of the weapons actually feel like they have any stopping power. 2036's biggest issue in my mind is the lack of free transformation(which is a notable downside given the franchise), but it does a much better job making me fell like I'm in a deadly fighter robot-plane.
  4. There is no second or third saga in Macross. There is no Zor in Macross, no invid in Macross, no anything masters in Macross. Though Macross' protoculture are similar in some respects to Robotech's robotech masters, the two are by no means equivalent. Seriously, over half of the footage in Robotech is from shows that do not exist within the Macross franchise. Everything after Robotech episode 36 is from two other completely unrelated shows, and some of the content before that episode is spliced in from those unrelated shows. And the rewrites to the parts that ARE from Macross range from slight changes in terminology to just flat-out making things up. That is only true of Robotech. In Macross, it stands for variable fighter.
  5. I should really just ignore this, but... you honestly expect people at a site named MacrossWorld to not care? This isn't animenewsnetwork, or wherever the cool kids talk about the latest episode of whatever thousand-episode Shonen Jump cartoon is popular these days. This is, quite literally, a site exclusively for Macross fans. We are, almost by definition, the kind of people that care about even the tiniest of details. OF COURSE we care that a show we dearly love was hacked up, rewritten, and welded together with some unrelated nonsense. Particularly as it was done by a company that basically declared war on us in the 90s, engendering no small amount of ill will in the process. And especially since, some thirty years later, we are STILL explaining that there are no invid or hovertanks or robotech masters or veritechs in Macross.
  6. I hereby that I meant Transformers V as in Victory, not V as in five. Wait, Transformers Victory is already a thing. Vengeance? Velocipede? Vendetta? Yeah, I like Vendetta. Transformers Vendetta: Revenge of the GoBots. ... Look, if the comic books are allowed to completely rewrite the past on a whim, I think I'm allowed a slight retcon every now and then. Also, a reboot won't end things. They aren't magic cures. Batman Begins(the movie that started this whole "needs a reboot" nonsense) was good because it was done by competent people that genuinely cared about doing Batman right, not because it was a reboot. The guys in charge of the Transformers movies don't really know HOW to make a good Transformers movie, despite some valiant efforts(let's be honest here, Dark of the Moon directly copied original cartoon episodes for most of the plot), and will likely wind up attached to any new Transformers movie, even if it IS a whole new world. It'll be Amazing Spiderman all over again: a new continuity done by the people that screwed everything up in the first place. Worse, it will result in there being TWO Bayformers continuities in the TF multiverse instead of one. It LITERALLY makes the situation twice as bad. But I'd be pleased as punch if they just stopped making them.
  7. That's what they WANT you to think. And then once you relax and let your guard down... BAM! Transformers V: Rise of the GoBots.
  8. Other way around for me. My first Prime was the Powermaster, and there's a soft spot in my heart for what I could tell even at the time was an ugly brick.
  9. Ah, they're shipping the emulator box. Good riddance to Firecore.
  10. Honestly, The Right Way would've been to send DoctorM64 a formal cease & desist letter sometime before the game was completed. They had FOREVER to send him a formal notice that "this isn't cool and we would quite like it if you didn't release a game full of our legal trademarks. BTW we'll sue your ass if you don't knock it off. So seriously, knock it off." Rough paraphrase, but... that's what a C&D letter paraphrases to. The WRONG way is to wait LITERALLY A DECADE until the game is finished and released, and then immediately issue a series of fraudulent DMCA takedown requests to try and erase it from the internet. Two years ago IS before the fraudulent DMCA takedown requests of August 2016. It doesn't actually excuse them, though. Yes, I am going to keep referring to them as fraudulent takedown requests, because that is what they were. That was not pirated software, Nintendo did not own the copyright to that game. (They own numerous trademarks, but DMCA takedown requests are not actually applicable to trademark infringement. They are only valid for straight-up piracy. ) DoctorM64 doesn't seem particularly bitter, though. He apparently just put this on Twitter: "N won E3 for me, #SamusReturns looks like the Metroid 2 I always wanted to play. Looks like the ANOTHER part of #am2r still makes sense now."
  11. They only destroyed one fangame. All the other Metroid 2 remakes died of natural causes. And the way it was handled really makes me think it was amateur hour in the legal department. DMCA takedown requests are for flat-out piracy, not the more nebwlous situation of a fan remake. AM2R should've gotten a formal cease&desist letter, unless their legal team mistook it for an actual Nintendo product.
  12. Oh, hey, Nintendo is remaking Metroid 2. I remember when I actually WANTED them to do that. ... At least it's hard for Sakamoto to shoehorn a plot about Samus being a delicate emotional flower into a game where she is literally committing genocide for money on a planet full of monsters. We already have a plus here! Honestly, it doesn't look awful, and I like what they did with the zeta metroid there. Found a good way to balance the feral creature concept with the humanoid design. I hope it is as atmospheric as Metroid 2 is. Return of Samus does a very good job at telling a story without any words, and I truly hope to see a remake that does it justice. I don't EXPECT great things, but I HOPE for them.
  13. May you rest in bat-peace, good sir.
  14. So in the continuing saga of "retro consoles that aren't lazy garbage and shameless cash grabs"... these guys are trying to resurrect the last great Commodore, the unreleased C-65. http://mega65.org/ Built on FPGAs, none of this ARM+emulator nonsense. REAL IRON! C64-compatible, C65-compatible(where they got the chance to do the necessary hardware tests on one of the prototypes I will never know), and offering a more modern mode that is still recognizably retro. Built-in SD card reader along with the normal hardware interfaces for cartridges and peripherals. And just to secure the title as baddest 8-bit home computer on the market, it can run its 6502-ish at 50 MHz! (Obviously, compatibility requires it to be speed-selectable for the C64's 1MHz or C65's 3.5 MHz. ) They're also trying to get the license to release this as an ACTUAL Commodore product instead of just a compatible look-alike.
  15. I wouldn't mind a Legacy Collection X either. I'm sure Capcom will get there eventually. They seem to remember they actually own Megaman, at least.
  16. I am actually surprised it WAS omitted. (Also that Capcom hasn't retitled it "Megaman 8.5" yet)
  17. Honestly, I like that look. He has the boxy out-of-proportion look that so many of the original toys had, and that tickles my nostalgia bone. Where I'd complain is his shoulders. They come up WAY too high. Any further and they'd attach directly to his ears.
  18. Oh, those guys aren't dead yet. After the big pile of BS they spewed the first time around and lengthy radio silence, I assumed the Retroblox people had disappeared. Nice to see they're finding more BS to spew. "First modular HD retro console" my backside. Ignoring that modular in this case means "we sell you extra parts to do what everyone else built into the base unit", the Retrofreak was still modular well before them. (And mark my words, the thing only exists because they saw the Retrofreak and realized it could be made more profitable by splitting the cartridge+controller adapter into a BUNCH of adapters). And they still haven't retired that "hybrid emulation" nonsense that seems to mean "ARM processor running an emulator, just like everyone else". If it doesn't, they should be shouting it from the mountaintops and telling everyone EXACTLY what it means. Their sole noteworthy feature is that they have a CD-ROM drive. And THAT is terrible design, since including the CD-ROM in the base unit instead of one of those (deliciously profitable) expansion cartridges sets a very large minimum size on the console that they can't avoid and that is unnecessary to most of their customers. Also a relatively expensive component that they could sell separately instead of letting it eat into their base profit margin. What is even the point of a modular system if you're building in the most expensive option?
  19. Writeup I saw said it had a new more toon-accurate head that could be used instead of the folded-up Eagle Fighter, and a vague statement about improved joints. Didn't see a picture of the head.
  20. And then Megaman Legacy 3 will have all the weird spinoffs, right? The racing game and the soccer game and the videoboard game?
  21. As long as they don't let him make another Robotech movie, he can do whatever he wants. One Shadow Chronicles is enough. Were it fanart, I think we'd be nicer. Don't get me wrong, it would still be very bad, but there is a difference between fanart and the output of a professional artist. One assumes comic book covers come from the later category... though I suppose I wouldn't put it past HG to do a search for "Robotech Macross" and start downloading images wildly, which would explain those first three.
  22. Dancouga renewal is awesome. The Dancouga may not be everyone's favorite mech, but he's pretty cool, and it is nice to see him back on the market. If I didn't already own one of the original version, I would be all over the renewal edition. In fact, Dancouga is one of exactly two SoCs I own. For the most part, I'm happy to watch you guys post photos. But he cut an imposing enough figure that I felt he needed a place on my shelf.
  23. Honestly, there's not much in the way of story content or anything in Scrambled Valkyrie. There's an options screen, and between levels it says "We got a new machine for the fighting." Other than that... stuff blows up?
  24. Wait, is this a Top Gun thread or a Batman & Robin thread? I'm confused.
