  1. Diggin the toys my man, but the place brings back memories of my bachelor days! Ahhhh...the good life!
  2. Me either! Been concentrating on Macross for the moment, but I might have to cop the funds for the MP Megatron. It's old school and flucking huge!

    JOON'S...HA!

Included in my first purchase was one of these things. I paid $40 for it shipped and boy was I disappointed when I received it! I read the back of the box the other day and about bust a gut laughing. I'll have to post the "Joon Story" from the box some time for those who have not seen it. Anywho, I'm enjoying a brandy and coke while searching Ebay and I ran across this listing. Thought you guys might see the humor in this. http://cgi.ebay.com/Macross-Robotech-Vinta...7QQcmdZViewItem
  4. Good question. Aside from it not having anything making it special or worthwhile for collectors, it is a good price for anyone in the market for the set. I've been looking for Hikaru's VF-1J and have been unsuccessful at finding one at a reasonable price. The combo is a good buy if the price ends up around $230-$250 shipped.
  5. I have the ADV version. The voices are a little corky sounding, especially Hikaru, but if you're like me and a slow reader this version should suit you fine. Some of the sounds for the 5.1 are weird too. Not the nostalgic sounds from the original, although the sound stage is much larger in 5.1 surround sound. If you prefer, you can watch in it with its original Japanese dialouge and English subtitles. I do no know how accurate they are, but I imagine it can't be too far off. Anywho, there's my two cents.
  6. I must admit that after reading the stuff on this website, my Robotech memories were burst. I'm currently watching the ADV versions of Macross with English translations. It's almost like having someone remove a blindfold from your eyes while watching it. I'll always dig Robotech, but it does make me feel like Robotech bamboozled us guys stateside by changing up the "real" story. I too hope to become a lying Macross Purist some day.
  7. That's not too bad I guess. I just wish I would have gotten into collecting 5 years ago. My collection would gargantuan right about now. For now, it's time to play catch up. Hopefully Yamato's new stuff won't be available until May'ish or June while I catch up...I know selfish right?
  8. I wasn't a fan of it at all, but again, at the price I couldn't let it pass me by. I was pleasantly surprised though when I received it. It's not a bad looking fighter at all. Haven't transformed it yet though. I think it looks better in battroid mode with the armor and I think that's how I will display mine.
  9. Curious to know how many guys that grew up stateside knew about Macross back when Robotech first came to the states. I knew nothing of it until I started searching for a Jetfire toy after Christmas. I kept seeing these high priced "versions" of Jetfire that was not Jetfire. Out of curiosity I checked them out which. This eventually led me to start looking for Robotech gear which eventually led me here. Since coming here I have learned how Robotech came to be. I had no idea watching Robotech as a kid that it was concoction of the Japanese cartoons dressed up for the states.
  10. Still curious about pricing when the toys first came out...
  11. That is one awesome looking display! I would like to display each one of fighters this way. Where did you get the small accessories? They appear to be perfect scale.
  12. I think it all lies in personal tastes and what you're collecting for. Certain fighters are more desirable than others. Just depends.
  13. Damn!
  14. As much trouble as I am having with trying to get the Stealth parts, I may have to consider doing this myself. I have never customized anything. Was it difficult? I'd hate to jack up a perfectly good set of parts that I could put on a different fighter as is.
  15. I couldn't agree more!
  16. Failed to mention that he also has the TV GBP armor for $50.00. I love this Macross stuff, but I love a good deal even better! Engage me if you're looking for something. Rest assured I have scoured the world wide web for the best price and might be able to inform you of where the best deals are.
  17. Ken at Toy-Wave has the armor and he comes highly recommended by Kensei. Shipping is from Japan, I think, so it's a little steep, but if you purchase multiple items it all balances out. I got the Wood Land and Urban Camo; it was $59.00. With shipping and all the total was $158.00. You can't beat those prices stateside or abroad.
  18. Pardon my ignorance, but looking at your pictures it looks like the models are able to change into the three different modes once completed. Is this true, or am I imagining things? I have never painted anything, but I love putting things together. Is it difficult to complete these models? Do they come with instructions in English? Please let me know. Thanks!
  19. Agreed. Dig deep and you will be rewarded.
  20. I know! I'm just curious why they sold it for cheap. I thought maybe they were having problems selling them or something, but most places are still asking between $99-$175 for them. It's actually not a bad looking fighter. Internet pictures don't do it much justice. I scored the Wood Land Color GBP armor and plan on displaying the fighter in Battroid mode with it. If I had not scored the armor, I still would have displayed this one in fighter mode. By the way, I found the armor for $45.00...should see it next week some time.
  21. I got it through a store front on Amazon.com called toyzz.com. They had 2 for that price on Saturday I think. I'll post a link if they still have the other available.
  22. What's up with the Low Viz Ver 2? Toy shops must be having trouble moving these things. I picked one up for $59.99 +$11.95 for shipping over the weekend. Never planned on getting it, but for the price I couldn't let it get past me. Just out of curiosity, what did the first 1/48 fighters sell for? I've read and seen where some guys have bought at least three of certain fighetrs when they come out to display in each mode. Some guys even purchase four to have an extra one to play with. That would be insanely expensive today with some fighters going for as much as $400.00...if you're lucky enough to find them.
  23. I feel you misterryno! Thank God my wife is anti-computer all the way! Heck she even uses my email address when she's asked to reference one then asks me to check to see if she's got mail from this, that, and the other. It is a small world though. A guy walked into my office the other day and was admiring the fighters on my desk. Turns out the guy is into Gundam and the big Warrior robots or something. He said he frequents the MW site often. His wife works in my area and told him about the fighters on my desk and he decided to stop by. His wife happens to work with the same nursing agency as my wife does. Valentine's Day was a success, so a couple of my figheters are home now. Not counting the Low Viz wood land color that was at the door today.
  24. Aint that the truth!
  25. Ha! Funny you say that. I pay for my Macross stuff using some retirement funds I have deferred into a savings account with my credit union. My wife doesn't even know the "real" amount of money I have spent. The few she has seen, she thinks I have spent no more than $30-$40 "on a toy". I just chuckle though and keep on buying, as my appetite for this stuff is insatiable! She's still in shock that I have spent the $30-$40 kind of money on "toys". Since I do not play with them and they are for display only, technically they are not toys, but collectibles rather. BTW, good grabs Cain. From one newbie to another, welcome to the site!
