  1. Ha! Man I wish I could change my member name to Ballchinian! I'm going to go cop the movie to see this guy in action. Thanks for the info eugimon.
  2. Man, I honestly do not know. I was looking for something "alien" to go with the theme of most of the cartoons we watch and this is what I came up with. I saw this pic some time ago and saved it because his face was so damn funny. If >EXO< surprised everyone at the Macross Convention with the Thunder Hammer kit for sale and had the avatar's face, we wouldn't be thinking about the dangling balls hanging from his chin...we'd just want to shake his hand in grattitude as he pondered upon his chin deep in thought on the next great project. It's a face only a Macross lover could appreciate.
  3. Holy smokes! I used to build R/C cars (1/10 scale buggies to be exact) and I have never seen servos that small! Insane! I've been out of it since 1994 and I imagine that technology has gotten a lot better, but that is still impressive. Looking forward to seeing this completed project.
  4. That's a good question sidearmaslpha. I could see that being a problem in Cali. Fortunately it's not a problem in my area. I decided to go back to my open face design I had planned on going with originally. I plan on setting my cubes up along the top of the shelves in my office. Although my son knows how to handle my fighters, I want them out of reach for when we have young visitors over. Can you imagine a house full of 6 year old boys over for a sleep over having these "Transformers" right in their reach? I ordered some 1" thick styrofoam planks to provide some extra support underneath because there's about 2" of depth on top of the cabinets. The weight of the glass should smooth everything out pretty evenly. Once it's built I should have about 4" on either side of the display on top and about 6-8" above. I'm really looking forward to getting this in place as I think it's going to be an excellet and cheaper alternative for displaying our stuff. Should have mine on the 9th or 10th and will build it this coming weekend.
  5. For the price it wasn't a bad deal, I just wish the description had been more forthcoming because I would not had bid on it. I would have gladly paid $40.00 more for a brand new one which is the going rate these days. Fortunately the seller has agreed to send the correct pilot and gunstrap which do hurt the value of the toy after receiving the email below. Thanks for the info ******. The Valkyrie arrived yesterday. Although I do not agree the toy was in excellent condition I did leave positive feedback. There's a stain on the left leg of the fighter that I have tried to remove as best I could. A piece just below the left side of the cockpit appears to have been glued back in place. The remaining decals indicate that some were applied to another fighter, or either the wrong "used" decal sheet was added to the box; there's no U.N. SPACY decal for the gunpod that is missing it's gunstrap. A wing flap was missing from the fighter and fortunately it was included and I was able to re-attach it. The arms are loose and stickers have been applied and some are in poor condition. I have not transformed the fighter and may just leave it in fighter mode as I am afraid what transforming it might reveal. Most disappointing is that the pilot belongs to Hikaru's VF-1J plane from SDF: Macross and not DYRL. I am hoping this is a mix up and that maybe you can send the correct pilot and I send this one back. I would have asked questions before the auction, but when the description stated the toy was in "excellent" condition I was lead to believe none of the above would apply. If you have the correct pilot and gunstrap please let me know as I would greatly appreciate having these for the fighter.
  6. I did not notice that, but I haven't seen DYRL either. I wanted to rip into this guy and leave bad feedback and all because he said the thing was in excellent condition, but it wasn't. I had to clean the thing up and reattach one of the wing flaps. It was only 80 bucks so I didn't feel too bad. I see why some members refer to Ebay as Evilbay or Fleabay for that matter. I don't think the guys collecting here would be misleading about the condition of an item and even swap pilots. In my feedback I stated I couldn't complain price wise because there was plenty I could have complained about. Now I have one more complaint in reference to the wrong pilot. I think I will email this guy with a list of my complaints. Will make me feel better.
  7. My latest acquisition. Hikaru's VF-1A DYRL. Copped this off of Ebay for $80.00 shipped with a few decals applied and a missing gun strap. Decent deal. I'm going to leave this one out until my glass arrives next week for my display. Got word today that it's scheduled to arrive on the 9th or the 10th so it will be next Saturday when I build my display for all my Valkyries.
  8. We don't know that everyone who ordered to be honest. There are crooks and scams all over the world. I'd like to think that those with a vested interest in getting one really wanted one, but if I am a crooked collector in Japan why not order it, remove the slip cover and weathered Roy, replace it with a minty Roy you have on hand, cry wolf for a refund while holding on to the weathered version and the slip cover? Heck if the slip covers well available and you had weathering skills, you could make a killing. I'm anxious to see if these things start popping up on Ebay. Yamato better get a box for it or I guarantee someone is going to try to pull the okie doke.
  9. Seeing that this thing virtually comes in a VF-1S box with a frackenackle slip cover, could it be possible buyers might be lying and playing the old fashion switcheroo trick? I receive my weathered Roy, swap out the weathered version with a regular old Roy and cry wolf saying "Hey, you guys sent me a regular Roy with a damn slip cover! I want my money back!" I mean what other way can Yamato authenticate this model outside the damn slip cover? Serves their asses right if it's happening. That way the damn things have no value especially seing that there are people out here who could mock their weathering scheme to a "t".
  10. Wonderfest in Lousiville? Is this the same convention that's held in Japan?
  11. It sounds like the only thing limited about this version is the damn slip cover! That process sounds like they are weathering them on a case by case basis. Shiggity, I guess anyone wanting one could see if they could commission Ghostkiller to weather one up a Roy for them. I think I may have just lost interest.
  12. You mean this photo is of a kit that was never for sale, and your custom is a one off that your special effects friend created? If so, that's even more impressive!
  13. After all the searching and what not, I ended up canceling my original order because I found a vendor on Ebay with the 14" panels for 16 cubes at a cheaper price. I think I will even bypass building a base for the display since I have found those on some other sites. I also found a site that sells the hinges so that you can create doors for each cube. There's a glass maker in my area that can that can create glass in any dimension so I will provide them with the proper dimensions to create doors. It's just a matter figuring out how I want to congiure this thing. I hope to have pictures posted this weekend if it arrives some time this week. I think this is an awesome and affordable display for us guys that do not have an Ikea store near by. I plan on buying pre-made bases. According to their pre-made measurements they match up to the measurements of the cube displays and my office furniture.
  14. I'm with thegunny and petarb. I don't know anything about modeling, but after seeing what a "professional" can do on a "commissioned" job with >EXO<'s Thunder Hammer, those two aren't very impressive. My motto with anything I do is: If you're going to do it, then do it right! Go all out and for the best. That is what's so impressive about that Thunder Hammer. I'd wait three years and commission someone to do a superb job to its likeness or better.

    Thunder Hammer

Just out of curiosity, what will it cost?
  16. Maybe not a good analogy, but valid points made using it.

This thing is just sick! I have not an artistic bone in my body, but would take a stab at building this if it ever came available...or just shell out the cash for one already done.
  18. Yo, Ryno check the link below! Ordered mine today! I only got the 12" panels, but that's okay. For my collection, the 8 cubes should be enough to start with for now. This set up is only $108.15 and get this; shipping to Arkansas was only $61.72 for UPS freight! I also found a site that sells the bases if you do not want to build your own, but I believe the link below sells them too. Can't go wrong with this set up for the price. Comes to the price of about 3 Detolfs. EDIT - Found another site that has an even better deal. The second link has 10 cubes for $100.00 and their shipping is $60-$75 depending on your location. http://www.displaywarehouse.com/productinf...p;deptcode1=573 http://www.triodisplay.com/catalog/cube-st...lay-p-7632.html
  19. None of the above. After getting my son a few Transformers and the V-Bot for Christmas last year, I started looking for Jetfire on Ebay. After I saw how much he was going for I ran across knock off version called "Joon Macross". I though it was a bargain so I purchased it. I then started researching all this "Macross stuff with Japanese writing". This lead me back to Robotech which then lead me back to the Macross World forums. My eyes were opened when I viewed members collections and starting reading the information posted. That was early January. Hundreds of dollars later I am still in awe by the toys and the Macross story. Just purchased the DYRL Movie on DVD with English subtitles and can't wait to see it. I have the Macross Plus DVD set and have watched some of Macross Zero on YouTube. Especially interested in Macross Frontier after seeing some of the fighters.
  20. Come on now?!?!? We're not talking about a mom and pop shop building molds in the basement and taking a gamble by putting up their own capital. We're talking a Japanese toy giant; namely Yamato. I don't know their worth, but I imagine it is a multi-million dollar toy company with serious capital to invest in development. I am clueless when it comes to toy design, but logically thinking a two-seater mold could be created from an existing 1/48 mold with a few modifications. Their return is all but guarnteed 10 fold with just the VF-1D, Super VF-1D, and Elintseeker alone. Those three would whisk away from toy shops in droves at $450.00 each. I'm stateside so Yamato doesn't do any marketing here, but I imagine these toys aren't marketed in Japan as a toy to "play" with to children. Their core demographics probably point to working males who collect as a hobby. I don't know of any kid who could afford a $150-$200 toy to bust up or any parent that would spend that kind of money on something that will ultimately end up broken. All that to say this: chances are Yamato is not hurting for money and they have the capital to invest in "modifying" a mold that will ultimately line their coffers with some serious cash. Whether or not they will do it is another question. So I pose the question again: Where can we find "official" information that 1/48 two seaters will be produced?
  21. What if the new stuff is priced through the roof? Let's say the VF-1D and Elintseeker are released in 1/48 scale as a true limited editiions for $750.00 each. I wonder if there would be the same gripes about the astronomical price. Seeing that these two have become the holy grail to have in any collection I imagine they would be nearly impossible to come by; more so than the weathered Roy. I can only imagine how beautiful Yamato would do these in 1/48 scale.
  22. Where can we find official info from Yamato about the release of new 2 seater fighters?
  23. Any chance of you selling any pre-painted and assembled kits? I wouldn't dare take a stab at attempting to paint and build this.
  24. My updated collection after getting rid of my 1/60's. I'll be selling my two RT MPC's as well. If I could afford it I would do like some guys here and purchase multiples of each fighter and keep a set boxed away to stay minty fresh. Mine are stored away until I get my case. Just when I am about to purchase my case, I am faced with making a choice of adding to my collection or buying the case; so far, adding to the collection has priority.
  25. Yeah, I remember when I found the Low Vis 2 for $59.99 you inquired about it because you wanted to do a custom job with one for that price. Your sentiments about not caring either way is where I am at about those who think it's worth it. I've said it before, but I'll say it again that I am still fairly new to all this stuff. I still refer to the weathered Roy as having a false sense of collectibility or exclusiveness in hopes that it will eventually be available for purchase at real world prices. But I would lying if I said if one came up for sale right now that I wouldn't be in the race to cop it. Will I regres the purchase a year from now ? Who knows. Maybe, maybe not. I wish I could have been around when the Low Vis 1 or TRS 1/60 came about to have a better feel for how this thing might possibly go. I'll PM you about the Stealth 19.
