  1. Yep, UV rays actually change the composition of the plastic which causes the discoloration. The color is not residue that can be "cleaned" off. The only option is to re-paint or sand down to the "white meat" of the plastic. Just keep your out of direct sunlight and use UV treated glass!
  2. I finally got this thing together and decided to display some of my small growing collection to see how things would look. Turned out okay, but to my surprise, my wife arrived home from work and saw what I was doing and told me that she has to start at square one for my birthday. She said she had planned on having a custom shelf built in my office for my fighters. We talked about it some and she's going to have a cabinet maker come out and create a custom matched surround mounted to the wall for the glass cubes to go inside. Now that, I can not wait to see... for now the display will remain on the floor. I'm poofed, but here are a few photos...
  3. The stand alone comes with the extras too then right? For some reason I have seen it for sale cheaper than the DB.
  4. One other question. What about the DB? I noticed that these are the two that are sold with the VF-0A and VF-0S. Is there a difference in the two?
  5. Thanks DnD. I should have searched before posting this. I just saw one online. Thanks for the info!
  6. I want to be sure the Ghost includes the additional parts/weaponry not included with the stand alone VF-0A before making the purchase. I saw them listed on a spec sheet, but can someone tell me for sure? Thanks!
  7. Molly Maid takes care of that every other week. 00
  8. As luck would have it, my glass and hardware arrived today. I was not expecting the quality to be as good as it is. The glass is commercial grade; the same kind of stuff you find in department store displays. And heavy as shiggity! Anywho, I got one of the cubes built...only 15 more to go. I am going to have to hold tight on completing it because I need some styrofoam inserts to help support the displays along top. Anywho, here is the first to give you guys an idea of their size and to give you a visual of how they might work for you. Keep in mind these are 14" panels and the flexidisplay is 4".

    Latest custom.

I know this is off topic, but seriously, after seeing some of the weathering talents compared to Yamato's weathered Roy? It has changed my whole position on wanting it. The only thing collectable about it is the slip cover. If I had to spend my good money on something cool it would definitely be for a custom like this. Yamato's weathering skills aint all that great. The LV1 works only because of the of it's greyish blue color and the fact that it truly is a limited edition. Besides that it is a good looking fighter with the attempt to weather it, but this thing here runs circles around both of Yamato's attempts at weathering. This Ballchinian's balls are still on the ground in awe at this thing! .. .. .. .. .. .. 00
  10. I know you are busy these days G, but check it out. I just got a call from the receiving department at my job that my glass has arrived. After I post this I am going down to load it in my truck. Anywho, I am going to start building it today. I think these glass cubes are an excellent and economical way to display our Valks. Hopefully I'll be able to post picks tonight.

Yep, this one gets the Ballchinian stamp of approval! Awesome weathering! Good job!
  12. They look the same to me. Please explain their differences besides the doubled elbows, because my untrained eye does not see them. 00
  13. I love it! Best damn pose I've seen thus far! Pure unadulterated excellence! And that Jetfire looks stupid funny!!! 00 .00. 00
  14. What exactly is this? Is this the new 1/60 or something else???
  15. Umm...what exactly is the D-stance? oo
  16. Scale aside, how big can we anticipate these toys being? Will they be close to the size of the 1/48 Yamato Valks?
  17. Blessed is he who joins the Ballchinian Brotherhood! I have to concur with Ballin' brother Ryno. However, after some explanations about the scale of these things it's impossible. What we want we already have...perfect transformation 1/48's. Stick with the large scale Yamato!
  18. Got this set in today. The guy I bought this set is in China. He ships below US Postal rates and it takes roughly two weeks to get your stuff. Kakizaki was $109.99+$9.90 and Strike Parts were $62.00+$5.90. More than reasonable and well packaged; you just have to ask for a box or you get green wrapping paper. I didn't get my glass for my display this week and I am pissed about that. It looks like it won't be until next week that I get to display these beauts in all their glory. My collection so far as it resides in my office closet... oo
  19. If that's the case, I might pick up the 2-seaters for the heck of it if they are released. Nothing for me to get excited about though. I love the larger scale toys, so the 1/48's is where my focus will remain. I think the price of these will eventually drop and I might consider them then. Thanks for the in Shin. oo
  20. I still want to know if this 1/60 scale is the same as the 1/60 scale of the Zero toys or the original 1/60's. Or is it that the Zero fighters were bigger and their 1/60 scale is about the same size of the 1/48 VF-1 fighters? Can someone please shed some light on this? It's the determining factor in whether or not I will make the purchase. oo
  21. So are these the same size at the original 1/60's and not the 1/60 of the Macross Zero fighters? If so I can't see myself paying extra for attached legs. I'm with Kyp. I'd rather give my money for the 1/48's any day. Unless they come out with something special that I want for the sake just having in my collection, I think I will just concentrate on collecting 1/48 scale fighters. oo
  22. Small collection with BIG bang! Nice!
  23. Ha! Give me a chin strap! oo
  24. Yep. I got excited when I saw a post from him in this section because I thought it was "THE" collection only to click and be teased. The Ballchinian Bretheren don't take lightly to teasing Godzilla! oo
