Good suggestion NMB4M. Not everyone has the artistic abilities, skills and time it takes to create some of the awesome creations we have seen here. For me it's more the first two, but my time is limited too. But I can appreciate the artistic abilities and skills of others' customs to the point I would would pay them to create one for me. There are others who could appreciate them as well and displaying them at the convention could be just for show. Take EXO's Thunder Hammer for instance. Someone did it for him, but we could all appreciate it and would disappointed not to see it at the convention. RON's ridiculous creations should be on display as well. Then we have to take into consideration some of the custom work by guys like Wicked Ace and Ghostkiller who have both made sick custom YF-19's and other stuff. There should probably be a modeling class and a novice class for guys breaking into it like Miriya or Misterryno. I also saw a thread where a guy did his first weathering job then stripped it and the second time around it was better. This would probably be a great break out session to discuss at the convention. With the talent we have on this forum I am sure it could happen. OO

RON5864 Macross Repair Bay Custom Diorama Set!
MacrossMan replied to miriya's topic in The Workshop!
Um, I-I-I, ummm...WOW!!! This is exactly what I envensioned! The LED's give it that warehouse lighting look and just brings the factory to life! I soooo saw this in my mind with your ground crew set (Valley Girl Style..again!) Man this is just awesome! I can't wait to see what Ron will concoct next! You're a lucky dog!!! OO -
I feel what you're saying my Ballchinian brother, but if the contest's just sole purpose is for judging the customizations and not the person that did them, then commissioned customs should be allowed. Think about it like this: judges at a car show do not care how a car came to be in show quality condition more than the finished product. The best looking cars win; period. Maybe the convention should consider a seperate contest for those who are into customizing where they outline the detail of their work. The process leading up to the finished product is what will be appreciated by fellow modelers and those selected to judge the competition. Those entering would probably have to do multiples of a single custom. One with the pieces broken down and laid out, another partially built, and probably a final piece that's finished. Just my two cents. OO

Yeah, having trouble understanding this one. Can you post a pic? This part just snaps into place... OO

You got that right! OO

My sentiments exactly! Especially what miriya wrote. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Suffer with us brother. Macrossitis can't be treated with over the counter medications. Only a steady flow of new Macross toys will ease the effects of the disease, but it's debilitating to your wallet. Once you satisfy your appetite somewhat, Macrossitis is a very manageable disease, but do expect flare ups from time to time when new toys are released. Just make sure your wallet is up to snuff when they are...otherwise suffer the chronic pain associated with the side of effect "I want that, but can't get it right now". Welcome brotheren! OO

Please believe when you see a Yamato 1/48 Valk in comparison to the MPC Valks that money will not be an issue. I'm new to this hobby as well and after getting my first Yamato perfect transformation fighter, a Macross Zero VF-0A Cannon Fodder, I immediately sold the other stuff I made bonehead purchases on. This included some of Yamato's first generation 1/60 scale fighters; nice but not perfect transformation. These fighters required removal of the legs to transform. I also purchased the MPC Miriya. I never even took it out the box because by then I had been exposed to Yamato's VF-0A. I sold my Miriya for $50.00 to a co-worker who loves the MPC's. I have a Ben Dixon that I will probably end up giving to my son as a toy to play with as I did with the Joon I purchased when I wasn't up to snuff on what was what. Don't feel bad about the purchase. Form your own opinion about the toy. If you like it that's all that matters. I strongly suggest you get your hands on a Yamato 1/48 Valk and chances are you will have the same appreciation that most of the guys here have for it. By all means, check out Jenius' site. It's loaded with unbiased information on lots of toys that are discussed here. Also, check out the Hall of Fame forums for "Display Your Collections". Many members have posted picutres of what they have collected. You can see the difference in the toys there too. Finally, welcome to the forums! OO

Macross variable fighter/mecha pose thread
MacrossMan replied to Wicked Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
A big thanks goes to MisterRyno for helping my son get in on the action! He got his first official Macross toy he can play with yesterday and was estatic! This is his interpretation of "Ger-Wah" (says you're not supposed to pronounce the "K" sound) proudly displayed with my Max and Miria. OO -

My son has been pleading for a Macross toy he can play with. A big thank you goes to MisterRyno for hooking my boy up! His "Ger-Wah" (he tells me I can't say the "K" sound) mode. -
