  1. I thought I was alone in dealing with the wife's stealthy eye. I am trying to figure our how am I going to add my new 1/48 TV Max...if and when U.S. Customs releases it. They've had it since the March 9th.
  2. Fed chief Bernanke: recession could end in '09 - America's recession "probably" will end this year if the government succeeds in bolstering the banking system, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Sunday in a rare television interview. In carefully hedged remarks in a taped interview with CBS' "60 Minutes," Bernanke seemed to express a bit more optimism that this could be done. This is from the AP today. Hope it holds true. It would be nice collecting while the economy is strong. Wonder what prices were like for Yamato stuff a few years ago. It seems there is too much stuff available and not enough dough to go around to cop it all.
  3. Oh damn!!! Now that's just plain wrong for you to even tease like that! Sick my man...sick! Of course in good way!!!
  4. Yo! What is that?
  5. Now that, my friend, is clever! When I first looked I thought to myself why in the hell did Yamato keep this a secret and not post pictures of this feature in their early photos. You gotta share the secret! I would like to pose mine the exact same way.
  6. It's really that simple? This is what I have seen on the internet and I wasn't sure it was that easy. I will give it a shot when my TV Max arrives. Thanks!
  7. I have a few sets of 1/48 waterslide decals that I plan to apply to some of my Valks. Two sets are by Anasazi and are no longer available. I have no experience applying these type decals. Any advice you guys can provide would be most appreciated as I more than likely will not be able to find more if I screw these up.
  8. Presence is the key as many of you have stated. I was rearranging things in my display last night and took a look at the two 1/60's I have and that's when it struck me that the 1/48 has a profound presence. Molds, animae accuracy, etc. aside, the gargantuan size of the 1/48 just makes them stand out. As much as I like the new 1/60's, they can't hold their own displayed next to a 1/48 in my opinion. NMB4M said he'll be getting more. If Yamato produces anything else in 1/48 scale I will more than likely be copping it. Having everything in scale is cool and the 1/60's do make it easier to display more, but I only wish I had more space to display everything in 1/48. I think what I will do is purchase more glass in 12" x 12" panels instead of the larger 14" x 14" and build a seperate display for my 1/60's.
  9. Whatever happened to Kurt? I had him lined up for a custom job, but he just kind of disappeared into thin air. I don't think this guy's talent can be reproduced.
  10. Tatoos aside, the broad is just alright in my opinion; tatoos or no. I've dated women from the pineapple to the Big Apple and everthing in between. Please believe when I say this chick falls to the level of "bottom of the barrell chick" (referencing top shelf alcohol). She's not all that. I've had better on your everyday scale "type of chick" (if we are basing this soley on looks, but then again looks are objectionable and based on the of the eye of the beholder). Regardless, guys who have experienced "hot/bad" chicks will understand that this one does not fall into the category.
  11. The new 1/60 scale is most definitely a better size for displaying and if I had just gotten into the hobby I probably would not be concerned with 1/48 scale Valks. Since I am a few thousand dollars invested in the 1/48 scale like others, I would like to get a feel from them as to what they plan to do with their collections. I like the new "Chunky Monkey" tag associated with the 1/48. I think they have enough quirks to qualify as not up to par for having the playability factor like the 1/55 Chunky Monkies, but we can not deny the engineering of the older toys; they were made to play with. The new 1/60's makes it obvious that the 1/48's and ver. 1 1/60's are dinosaurs stuck in the time they were created. I have the old 1/60's in the VF-1D, VT-1, and VE-1, but I have even given thought to getting rid of these to make way for the new 1/60's...if they are release in 1/60 scale. We already know the Super Ostrich has been confirmed. When and if it's confirmed I'll probably get rid of them then.
  12. My first Yamato Macross toy was the 1/60 cannon fodder VF-0A. As I got more into the hobby I started collecting 1/48 scale Valks. Since then, like most, I have been hooked. My attraction to the toys originally was the sheer size of them along with the detail and the fact they didn't look toyish like the chunky monkies. That being said, it goes without saying I'm a diehard 1/48 fan. With the release of the new 1/60 scale Yamato stuff I am wondering what you guys plan on doing with your 1/48 Valks. My understanding is Yamato will be producing everything in the new 1/60 scale from here on out. We have to admit the sculpt and improvements of the new scale are off Richter scale. These new puppies are sweet and I'll be collecting them all, but I won't sleep on my 1/48's. If you are planning on picking up any new 1/60's (I'll be copping them all), what do you plan to do with your 1/48's? I only have one that I am considering selling and it is to purchase more 1/60 scale Valks.
  13. Oh man this is a flucking travesty Yamato. Really and truly sad that these are just repaints of current stock. Check this out though.... What's your price Save...if you were were willing to sell it???
  14. My sentiments exactly. The movie came off as insignificant and unecessary. It was somewhat painful to sit through the whole thing to the end.
  15. Nothing to handle; it's just jokes man. My way of saying the broad aint all that. I'd rather take a warm cup of spit; well maybe not. She's just "aight" in my opinion. I'd boink her if nothing else.
  16. It's within my sites, but you know I've always been on a personal mission to match your collection. I think when I first started collecting you had just started replacing what you had had in the past. Nothing serious, but just fun playing catch up. Believe it or not, I'll be looking for a cool DSLR camera once I am up to speed on my collection. Yamato aint making it easy though!
  17. This is why I have to break down and cop the 1/48 Weathered Roy. I remember when these things were going for $600-$700! With the second run they're a little more reasonable. I still have to cop the 1/48 Kakizaki and the Macross Zero enemy fighters. One day Vegas...one day...I shall catch up to you brother! Nice pics by the way.
  18. That is one sick pose of Hikaru's VF-1J! Seriously though, are you not afraid to leave these out at work? It looks like they are out in the open and someone looking to make off with them could do so easily.
  19. Somemod lock this thread please.
  20. Ichijo looks a little prim and proper there. Almost like he has sugar in fuel tanks.
  21. Sweet! I'll have to try my hands at one of these. What do the kits go?
  22. Question? I've never built any models and was wondering how difficult it is to build this one? Is there any paiting or glue involved? Or is like the old model cars that just snap together?
  23. Here are some excerpts from Dick De Jong over at HDTV Solutions. The review was submitted on November 13, 2008. Read the full review here: Vizio's SV420XVT 42" LCD TV After I settled in and turned my gaze towards the image being output by the VIZIO SV420XVT, I was amazed at the sharpness of the picture. But it went beyond sharpness. The term that came to mind was 3D. Let me explain. We recently reviewed the Blu-ray disc, Journey to the Center of the Earth, which included a 3D version, the kind where you wear those groovy cardboard glasses. Beyond the occasional snarling dinosaur lunging off the screen, there is an underlying 3D quality to the movie. In every scene, the foreground seems to be separated from the background. This is the 3D effect that I was seeing on this VIZIO when it was showing run-of-the-mill 2D programs. (MacrossMan's comments: This is what I was trying to explain about the depth where it seems like you could put your hand inside the TV or stick your head in to have a look around. The seperation is really something to see! To perform this visual 3D sleight of hand, the SV420XVT plays back the incoming video source at 120Hz, or 120 frames per second, using a technology called MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation). (MacrossMan's comments: This explains the smooth transformation of the characters throughout the movie; particularly Blackout's transformation in the opening scene. To paraphrase Mother Goose, the SV420XVT reminds me of the little girl who had a little curl. When the picture is good, it's very, very good. And when it's bad, well, it needs to be tweaked. I'll go into more detail in the Setup section. For now, I don't want to give you the wrong impression. This 1080p LCD produces a consistently superior image.
  24. Funny you mention that dnd. My son recently came across a stash of un-opened Transformers and thought they were for him. Whenever I am in Target or Wal-Mart I usually pick up a couple and toss'em away in a box in the closet. Lord willing and the creeks don't rise, if I'm still alive and ticking 20 years from now, they might be worth something to a young adult collector who tore his up playing with them as a kid.
  25. You're exactly right. Early on when they first entered the game they got a bad rap, but when they were branded the official TV of the NFL I had to give them a closer look. Not only is the XVT series sleek and "un-cheap" looking, it's a work horse and is clipping at the of Sony and Panasonic. I'd say they have surpassed the LG's and Samsungs. Cound't agree more. The leaders had better take notice. They are putting out a decent quality product at an affordable price. Vizio reminds me of how Hyundai has re-invented itself. Where they were a laughable brand years ago, they have made a strong comeback and now has Toyota and Honda on their toes. I saw the inforamtion on the upcoming 55" LCD with 240hz. I don't know what they are trying to do here. 120 is amazing enough. I mentioned in another post how smooth the transformation of Blackout is in the opening scene of Transformers. The weathering is more defined as are the call numbers and badging on him and Scorpinok. Amazing technology at an incredible price.
