Ta-ta's over tuna; any day!

Permission denied! Anywho, I guess it's kind of a selfish thing for me. The 1/48's have charm and nostalgia. Since I got in the collecting game late I'm hoping to have something in my collection that's nostalgic that will become desirable over time. These new 1/60's I doubt will ever have the charm and nostalgia of the 1/48's. Lord knows I'm a diehard 1/48 lover, but I would like to see the mold retired since Yamato seems to be focusing on the smaller scale. Now if they did go out with a bang and release the 2 acts of the Minmay guards, you can bet your sweet sissy ass I'll be all over them like smokestack lightning!

When I first discovered Yamato Macross toys in January 2008 I was buying everything I could get my hands on and eventually picked up a few v1 1/60's. After I got my first 1/48 Yamato Valk I got rid of those 1/60's like they had swine flu. After getting all the 1/48's I picked up the v1 1/60 Elint, Super Ostrich, and Trainer just because they were not made in 1/48 scale. Then came the v2 1/60's and I held on to my originals until word came that the Elint was being released in the new scale. That did it for me and my last v1's had to go to help fund and make room for the new 1/60's. It's really a no brainer and I don't think they will be worth anything, simply because of the improvements given to the new toy. There's really nothing nostalgic or charming about them. I believe those two characteristics are what give toys value. Here's a scenario: If Yamato was to release a v2 1/48 with all the improvements of the new 1/60, chances are the old 1/48's would drop even more in value than they have already. Thing about the 1/48's though is that they are nostalgic. Their scale alone gives them charm and all the quirky features that prevented them from being great gives them charm. Again, nothing nostalgic or charming about the old 1/60 other than the new version reminding us how bad in a bad way it really is IMO.

Care to part ways with one of those LV1's?

That reaction armor has got to be one of the most kick ass accessories and I can't believe Yamato slept on it! Next to an 0D, I'd like to see this released as well.

It was certainly a cool feature for storage, but it's not much of a bother to me to not have on the new 1/60. I don't use the feature on any of my 1/48's, but I could see how you might miss it if it was a feature that you made use of in the 1/48 line.

Anything members stateside who are unable to attend can do to help raise funds? Last year's con sold tickets for $5 each for a chance to win the Mikimoto sketch to help cover last minute expenses. If enough members here could make a $5 donation I'm sure that might help. Would be great to have more people attend, but the extra funds might help also. If you guys decide to solicit funds from members here don't hesitate to hit me up. I'd be willing to help you down under guys have a successful con. What do you say MacrossWorld? How about we lend these blokes a helping hand?

Word of caution with Overdrive at the moment. I ordered a few from them on April 29 and my order is still pending. Not in a rush to get these, but do know that they have been inundated with orders. Besides just coming back from Golden Week in Japan I do not see them moving these any quicker than usual. Their newsletter states there may be a 7 day delay before shipping on the 1/60's with the sale price. It also states they have taken on more orders than they thought they would get, so this might affect how soon they can ship.

I got into collecting Macross late in the game, but picked up a lot of stuff quickly. Some stuff I no longer need has helped fund my new 1/60 purchases. For me, I just don't want to get behind in collecting. I can spare funds for a Valk or two each month, but that is about it. I'd prefer to buy two at a time also so I don't get screwed on shipping. As it stands now, I am all caught up on the 1/60's and will more than likely cop them all as they are released. Will be posting pics as I find room in my display; or possibly getting a second display for these exclusively.

Now that Yamato is in full swing with rolling these out where are you with collecting the new 1/60's? With Over-Drive making them extremely affordable I have been able to get caught up and might even purchase some multiples so that I have the complete collection in DYRL and SDF-1 schemes. Question about Roy's VF-1S with Super & Strike parts in SDF-1. When Hikaru piloted his booby-ducked 1S did it have TV colored fast packs or were they the darker movie colored ones? Anywho, here is what I have so far: VF-1D Roy Focker Super VF-1S Hikaru Super VF-1A Hikaru VF-1J Hikaru VF-1S Max VF-1A TV Version Max VF-1S Super & Strike Parts Movie Color Super & Strike Parts TV Color No destroids yet. I have a couple hundred bucks i'm sitting on and might go ahead and cop the two on sale at Over-Drive.

Last news were the pics being leaked. You can see them here.

Any sugguestions on a Sony DSLR? Solid cam that I won't grow out of any time soon that will provide a solid base for adding a nice lens. Thanks Vegas!

Thanks for the info eugimon. Definitely something to consider. You basically hit things on the nose as far as what I am trying to shoot. Just want to get some nice shots of family when we get together for holidays and other celebrations. The occasional family reunion might have activities outdoors, but I don't want to get terribly deep into this thing with cash and technicalities. I just need a good solid camera that can take excellent photos of those events and even better photos of my hobby. I imagine I could probably pull this off with a nice point and shoot, but I want something "next level" if you will. That being said I am certainly not looking to transition into another camera; certainly not at this price point. I'd rather spend a few extra bucks for something entry level that has some buildability to it. Basically a good solid camera and if I decide to spend more money it would be in lenses. I did not know the D40 did not have the auto focus motor in it and this is a feature I think I would want to have. What is a step above the D40 that would have this feature? Do you know? And how much more money are we talking? Great info wizatar! I've watched several of your videos on Youtube and had no idea you were a member here. Thanks for the post. I think this will come in handy as I learn to shoot photos. Being the chronic procrastinator I am, I just received tax refunds for 2007 last week and today. My procrastination cost me $1500 in stimulus money , but I will be filing 2008 taxes this weekend. Long story short, it looks like I might a few extra bucks to spend a little more on my camera of choice. For some reason I the Nikon brand sticks with me. Any pros and cons in regards to Cannon vs. Nikon?

This is disappointing. I was looking forward to picking up several and possibly selling my launch arms to give my display more visibility.

1/48+fp's, 1/60, And 1/72 Picture Gallery Pt 4

Why do I feel like I am missing out on something massive here? -
Thanks eugimon. Before anything else, I've noticed your pics as well in the pic threads. Swoosh and Vegas just came to mind when mentioning members. I know it's no skin off your back, but I also like to give credit where credit is due. You're talking a bit over my head though. I have no idea what UI is. If auto focus motor is self explainatory then I have an idea of what that is. I guess the better question for me to ask is if someone toally new to the world of photography was considering a DSLR camera, what features are must haves or basically what should be taken into consideration when limiting yourself to $500.00? I'd like to get the most bang for my buck in the cam without any added accessories.
-
Yeah, here I am thinking a thread should be started about this and it already exists. Lord willing and the creeks don't rise, I hope to receive some bonus money in August. I should be all caught up on my collecting by then and hope to purchase a new cam then. What do you guys think of the Nikon D40? I've had goodluck on ebay and I know a lot of black market stuff ends up there. What do you all think about purchasing a camera from there? Seems like that's where I'm going to get the best deal.

I was thinking the same thing. Venitian Vegas???

First I'd like to see Yamato retire all the 1/48 molds. Don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but I am hoping their next moves have to do with both acts of the Minmay Guards in the new 1/60 scale, a stand alone GBP-1S Armor set as well as a box set with Hikaru's VF-1J suited up in it; all in 1/60 of course. Next, I'm hoping the next move is a special gift set of a stealth VF-1S with new matching GBP-1S armor in black and gray suited in the display box with lots of tampo printing; 1/60 scale of course. Lastly, I'm hoping a possible move is a VF-1J in the LV1 color scheme as a special gift set with the urban cammo GBP-1S armor suited in the display box with lots of tampo printing; 1/60 scale of course. If all this came to pass I'd be happier than a sissy with a bag of ___________!

Reading the last few frames I wonder if there needs to be a thread started on photography? Great info and all, but certainly don't want to get this thing off topic.

Cool deal and thanks for the info. I noticed the camera was only for the body and that the price went up as you added lens. I had been leaning towards a Nikon D40, but I am much too ignorant about cameras and shooting to know what is best and what not. I figured kanedaestes would know a thing or two, but everyone who has commented shares quality photos so I will take the advice for what it is worth. Not trying to spend more than $500 bucks on a cam though. There will be occasional family stuff, but this will primarily be a camera for sharing photos here as that's what I mainly use a camera for anyway. Would like to get the quality of some of Vegas, Swoosh, and others when sharing photos.
-
Not sure what you paid for that camera, but I figured if a film student would consider it, it must be about something. I've been in the market for a new camera as my Sony point and shoot died a while back so I've been using an old HP cam that came free with a computer some years ago. Anywho, I Googled the cam and found this one for $209. I'd like to think that is a good price considering it is from a reputable company and it is a DSLR. Please give me your thoughts on the cam as I might consider it. Thanks.

Yeah, I'm going to check the "Everything but..." thread to see if there is a Boondocks discussion there. Aaron McGruger is a huge Japanese Anime and Kung Fu fan and his comic strip and the cartoon are done in the same style. You'll love the show man. Okay, back on topic...next pose please.

Saw the movie last night and I am just wondering if that #11 character is where Baraka from Mortal Kombat came from. The last game console I owned was a Super Nintendo back in 1993 or 1994 and I used to love that guy. #11 looks a lot like him; just doesn't have the sharp teeth.
