I could sense the guy's arrogance in reading some of his reviews. Not knowing much about photography, the information seemed "good" to me as a source for it. Do you guys know of any reputable and reknowned photographers with similar websites?
-
You guys might already know about this website, but I have been reading this guys' reviews and reccomendations. I've been learning a lot from reading the information here. The website is: www.kenrockwell.com I was reading about the Leica M9 and that camera reminds me so much of when I used to sell home audio equipment for a living. The higher stuff didn't have all the bells and whistles that you see on the lower stuff. Everything in the higher end audio gear had a clear purpose. There was nothing there to get in the way of comprimising the sound. They're always plain looking and to those that didn't know any better they would look right over it because there is no "flash" or "wow" factor when looking. But man oh man when you fire it up and turn on the sound?!?!? Schweet!!! I'm still ignorant about this photography stuff, but if I had the money I swear I'd drop it for that M9!

Waiting on some 1/48 goodness to arrive. Roy's VF-1S with a set of Super & Strike Parts. 1/48's.....WOOH-SAH!!!!

Just like anything else, the price is subjective to whoever is buying. Look at the 1/48 Thunder Hammer kit that just sold for $600.00 in the for sale threads. There are still die-hard 1/48 fans of Yamato Valks and I happen to be one of them. $250.00 is a good price.

Actually a good thing in my opinion for those who would like to have some true "exclusive" Macross toys. The way they are doing things now should keep some Valks in Limited numbers. Certainly the 1/48 TV Max and Kakizaki.

Customized Valks vs. Exclusive Valks and Factory Stock Valks
MacrossMan replied to KiriK's topic in Toys
I have to agree with KirK. Stock "customs" will always retain their Value just like manufacturer produced "custom" vehicles. Yeah, I can probably go to the baddest guy in my town that does custom paint jobs and do some other personal modifications to a vehicle, but ultimately when I take that vehicle to the dealership as a trade, they are going to care less about my sick paint job and modifications because it takes away from the value of the car in the base customer aspect. Now if you bring a Ford Shelby Mustang that has had authorized modifications approved by Ford the value of that car will retain its value may even appreciate. This may be a bad analogy, but I think the general principle is the same. Being the owner of a Kurt custom I can easily say that Yamato could easily commission the guy for a limited run of 10 custom Valks and I'd bet my last dollar that members would be fighting to get them. -
I had planned on giving my son a 1/48 Hikaru VF-1J as a Christmas gift this year, but it is going towards something else so I have to do something else. He's looking forward to the holiday break so he can wear the kites in his head again already! He enjoyed every minute of explaining Macross to curious family members on Thanksgiving. The women he simply told "You wouldn't understand!" Too funny!

I've so gotta get Macross 7 to see what all the hype is about on these two. I love my YF-21 from Macross Plus, but these two appear to simply be repaints with a different head. Wait a minute...all my VF's are repaints with a different head with the exception of a few.

Welcome back wickedAce. Your presence has been missed. -
Thanks guys! He gets to wear it just for the weekend because it would be too much of a distraction at school. I'll be cutting it down with a 000 blade. No special tools though miriya. I have the same blades and clippers that the barbers use. Just used the same basic edgers I use to line him up with. I'll probably let him wear it again for the Christmas break coming up.

Not sure if this is the right place or not, but it looked most appropriate. My son came up with the crazy idea this morning that he wanted the Macross Kite with a Mohawk. Of course I pulled out the clippers and went to work. Turned out pretty cool.

Good idea logos. I'd like to see these as well whenever you can.

Thanks for the insight eugimon. If you had to choose from the three I've selected which would it be? My thought was to have three solid choices to cover a wide selection of different situations. I'm leaning towards the 35/f 1.8 because I think it will force me to grow and develop. Starting out I only plan to do table top studio shots of my toys, but plan to later get into shooting family events indoors and out as well as my son's sporting events.

I'm expecting to get the Nikon D90 pretty soon. I decided to buy brand new instead of refurbished. I'll be buying the body and lens seperately and have narrowed my lens choices down to three as a starter lens. What would you guys suggest? Nikon 10mm-24mm DX Nikon 35mm f/1.8 DX Nikon 55mm-200mm DX with VR
-
Okay, so I have been checking resellers.com for certain companies to beware of for the D90 purchase. I've seen mixed opinions (not here) about getting a refurbished body. What do you guys think about getting a refurbed body? Also, what would be a good all purpose starter lens? One more thing, any suggestions on online stores for the purchase; refurb wise? Thanks!

I think I'm getting one for Christmas.

Think I've seen these before, but that is still one big heavy ass gun! This is my rifle! There are many like it, but this one is mine! My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it, as I must master my life. Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true! I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me! I will! Before God, I swear this creed...My rifle and myself are defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life! So be it! Until there is no enemy! But Peace! And that!" -
So are these waterslide decals or stickers?

Man! What I wish I could have been around when these were available...

For the sake of this thread Solscud007's MG is top notch hands down, but if I had to choose between TH's I'd have to say EXO's original gets the prize. That gold visor just puts it over the top with that fresh out the factory look to it.
