  1. Meh, one Saber is enough, unless they do her in the maid outfit they release her in many PVC get ups. :D She's a nice little blonde!

Hard to say. 2G Saber is a nice fig but slightly off in the face sculpt (best I've seen is the Kotobukiya standing Saber). Being the first 2G Revoltech also means it's a little experimental, so it may be worthwhile to upgrade to a Fraulein body. It really depends on how good the Fraulein Rei is, and what their conceptual of a Fraulein Saber is like. If it's an affordable figure with the level of details as the EBCraft Saber, then it's a great steal.

  2. Toynami's "odd way" of mounting the gunpod under the wing of the MPC is actually correct according to the official Studio Artmic lineart.

Anyway, looks like Aoshima good royally screwed by Toynami.

    Graham

I wasn't referring to the way it was mounted as "odd" because it's not correct to lineart -- rather, I dislike the way you have to remove the ammo clip to mount it. That just introduce another part to lose..

As for Aoshima being royally screwed by Toynami, to be honest I have to say they asked for it....

  3. Aoshima surely saved some money by this. It is a good move for them as this is the only option for us to get a modern transformable Legioss.

Matt Alt reports on Yaclog's comments after receiving his preorder:

    http://toyboxdx.com/phorum/read.php?1,173781

It's a real shame how this turned out.

    To quote Drifand's source:

The first commenter claims to have contacted Aoshima customer service after his Legioss' arm broke off right out of the package, and was told that the company will need another month to respond due to the massive nuber of complaints.

I'm not sure at this point whether Aoshima saved or lost money. Each QC case is expensive not only in terms of replacement parts (or whole toys), but also customer perceptions. Personally, I think Aoshima made a bad business decision, but that's just me.

  4. Scanned and searched but doesn't seem to be here.. If this is a repost, mods please feel free to merge or nuke.

I was scanning through HLJ items and came across these, due in December. Images are from HLJ but hosted on my own account..

Personally? I don't really dig the black, and the gold letterings/ highlights really kill it for me. The VF-19 is much nice than the VF-1S though.

  5. Top Gear did the Veyron vs Typhoon race this evening. I won't spoil who won. :) I will say, though, that the Tiffy climbs like a homesick angel. One with a rocket up its... :)

Heh, Top Gear is turning into a show obsessed with the Veyron. It's a great car, but still...

  6. i agree, the BG looks great.

The BG are actually a series of mechanical base sets made by Kotobukiya, seen here:

    Set 1

    Set 2

    Set 3

They are very good and can be chained together. The accessories that come with them are very nice, and for 1/144 models are a perfect scale to display MSes in, though CCA-era MS are a tad too big. Even the Revoltech Labours look very good in them. If you got the space to display them, I heartily recommend a set of 3 -- but they do eat up space, so getting more than that isn't recommended.

  7. The third vulnerability is the turret machine-guns. The tank commander has a .50 caliber (12.7mm) machine-gun in a powered turret, and the loader has a 7.62mm machine-gun. In city fighting, these two machine-guns are often more useful than the tanks 120mm gun. There is also another 7.62mm machine-gun, mounted next to the 120mm gun, and operated from inside the tank by the gunner. But it’s the first two machine-guns, out in the open, that need some protection. The tank commander and loader have to leave themselves vulnerable to enemy fire while they are operating their machine-guns.

Hmm, I wonder how much an effort it would be to develop and mount a multiple-MG turret in place of the current 120mm turret? Probably too much to seriously consider, but that's really something that will be more useful than a 120mm gun that isn't really utilized.

  8. Received my Revo Convoy and Getter-1 a few days ago, to be honest I wasn`t really impressed from the possibility. For me the EMSIA Gundam figures are far better in terms of the possibility.

Err, not a fair comparison IMO -- EMSIA is high end 1/144 Gundam, Revoltech stuff aren't quite in that league. I think it's fairer to say Revoltech falls between MSIA and EMSIA.

The main point is that Revoltech joints hold poses better and longer than MSIA ABS joints. Unfortunately, the design of the joint receptacles often restrict the poses that can be done -- i.e., the "big nuts" syndrome, the limited shoulders, etc. etc. A MSIA/ EMSIA design with Revoltech joints would be interesting to see.

(Which leads me to a pet peeve. Where's my Revoltech joints set for customization? Kaiyodo is sitting on a gold mine there...)

  9. regardless of their intent eh? Sounds surprisingly similar to what some out of work painter said about his nationalistic arms buildup a few decades ago. <_<

Trying to invoke Godwyn's Law? :)

It's not a good topic to discuss here, really. To get back on topic, the production of a new aircraft based on a 50-year-old frame has different meanings on a tactical and a strategic scale. I don't think very much of the aircraft if it ever gets into combat against a modern air force (US or Russian), but to be able to get to this point highlights certain other capabilities.

  10. Honestly if the Iranians are so hard up for a modernized F-5 replacement I don't see why they don't just license produce the FC-1/JF-17 in country. Rumour has it they've successfully reverse engineered a smaller all digital version of the AWG-9 so they wouldn't even need to rely on crappy Chinese avionics.

I don't think this is about the quality of hardware that the Iranians are concerned about. Their international situation is such that any arms suppliers may suddenly get arm-twisted into stopping shipments, and that would have impact on their capabilities.

I think the Iranians are deliberately going the hard way to build up their own national capabilities so that they can use internal resources to support their own forces. Regardless of what their intent is, their strive to be nationally, industrially and economically independent is actually quite admirable IMO.

  11. I just pre ordered mine. Quick go go go! (Yes Sam..... I waited till the stroke of Midnight.....)

    Just pre-ordered.

You do realise that the HLJ system is not real time, and there is a poor wrench monkey who sorts through the orders tomorrow morning JP time, right? So there's still an element of risk...
