Lord knows I want one, though $300 on eBay is more than a little steep. -
Viper's Creed Thread (can we make it official?)
RavenHawk posted a topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just downloaded and watched Viper's Creed. *** Spoilers ahead *** First of all, I don't speak a word of Japanese, so I'm not too clear on what was going on, but just trying to do my best guess. I'm assuming that each rider has one of these women back at head quarters that is kind of his/her personal operator or intel person? Not sure how I feel about the mecha. As those of you who know me on here know, I am pretty obsessed with motorcycle mecha, but I don't know about this one. The arms and legs just seem a little too skinny for my taste. Not sure how they seem to skate along the highway in a few of the scenes, when the wheels are on the knees, not the feet. It's a bit disappointing that all the motorcycle mecha look identical except for the personalized sticker on the front, but if these are standard issue to these mercenaries, then I guess it makes sense. Similarly, though I prefer the MOSPEADA or BGC type of ride armor, this more Megazone-like mecha, with the rider sitting within a cockpit inside, probably also makes sense. Reminds me of the Paladins from Blassreiter. Speaking of the highway, how come all the roads seem completely deserted? I was impressed by the integration of CG and hand drawn animation here. Usually I find it pretty jarring, but it's pretty seemless here. The cast of riders is what you would expect in an anime. Tough guy main character, good looking (blond jokester?), pretty woman, and large older oafish character. Liked the action, though there was little else in this episode. The riding on the walls was cool, Cyclops dropping his weapons pods (sort of like shedding fastpacks in Macross) was visually nice, though after the big explosion, the hand sinking slowly below the water was a bit melodramatic. Gorgeous cityscape at the end. Directing seems pretty good, from what I can tell. Have to say, I really like the artistic style during the closing credits. That's about all I can say, based on not understanding any of the dialogue. Now I'm waiting to see Rideback (downloaded the manga, but no signs of the anime yet). -
Ride Armors, Legioss and Treads! Oh my!

Probably a dumb question, but where is the number on the Alpha? I have my certificate that came with it from Robotech.com, but I want to make sure the numbers match up. -
Anyone know if the Hurricane motoslaves are the only ones we can expect to see, or are there plans for the Typhoon and Typhoon 2?

What's the consensus as far as the model kits versus the Yamato toy? As in, if you're only planning on getting one, or one series, which should it be?

Ride Armors, Legioss and Treads! Oh my!
RavenHawk replied to EXO's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Thanks for both replies. I'm tempted here, but I think I've resolved myself to just get blue and Shadow Alphas (if I can ever get my hand on a blue Alpha) and Betas. I want the Toynamis, not the CMs or Aoshimas, but it's just not cheap. -

Re: The red Beta preorder, anyone know what this "Z Head" thing is they're talking about? Can't see in the pics. -
I'll take that for a no.

I can't read any of what this says about Col. Jonathan, but I think I remember reading somewhere very recently that this is a reissue, with just a sticker to put on the face for his sunglasses. Was this earlier in this thread, or elsewhere? Anyone remember or know more? -
I remembered an earlier conversation, but was having trouble finding it. Seemed like, at the time, I was in the minority for people that actually liked the new designs. Thanks for the links. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the info. That is disappointing. Sounds like basically similar info to what is in the booklet that came with the MOSPEADA DVDs. I was hoping for more info on the designer's (Hideki Kakinuma?) ideas for an updated MOSPEADA show.

I would LOVE to see more of this updated Legioss and the Dread 2, and toys of it would be amazing for the collection!

Cool, thank you. Now I'll have to see if I can find a back issue anywhere. And a translation.

Well, there was the Matchbox Logan, though it transformed to "guardian" mode (or whatever it was called in Southern Cross) but not into a box, er, I mean tank.

Transformers Dreadwing/Smokescreen - Legioss/Tread

Transformers Dreadwing/Smokescreen - Legioss/Tread
RavenHawk replied to RavenHawk's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Very likely, since the US version of the toy of those guys was also named Dreadwing in G1, and Darkwing in Super God Masterforce (I'm referring to the two jets that combine into one, not the jet and the tank). -

Do you have any links to the Beast Wars II bomber and little jet you're referring to? I'm not familiar with them, and haven't managed to find anything on them. You're not referring to Transtech, right? As for the Transformers superthread... this seemed a better spot for the thread, as far as getting actual live feedback from people (especially fellow MOSPEADA fans). -
Transformers Dreadwing/Smokescreen - Legioss/Tread
RavenHawk replied to RavenHawk's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Because at the time there was no likelihood of seeing a Legioss/Tread toy, and the bomber and fighter connecting together, then transforming into a small robot (fighter) and a big bulky weapons-laden robot (bomber) reminded me of it, hit a soft spot I have for MOSPEADA, and seemed the closest thing I was ever likely to get my hands on. -
Transformers Dreadwing/Smokescreen - Legioss/Tread
RavenHawk replied to RavenHawk's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I know, it's up against some stiff competition for that title. I liked it because: a) It reminded me of MOSPEADA b) It made sense to me as a gimmick. Most fighters have such short ranges, fly it to the combat site on the bombers fuel tanks, then separate when it is needed. Plus, the bomber can bomb the location, then transform to a tank to secure the area, with the fighter patrolling. Ok, maybe doesn't make much sense from a Transformers point of view, but from a more human-based one... -
There was a thread a while back, if I remember correctly, with some prototype images for the toy of the Blassreiter Paladin. Has anyone heard any updates on this item? Thanks.

Transformers Dreadwing/Smokescreen - Legioss/Tread
RavenHawk replied to RavenHawk's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Either everyone is asleep or *shudder* working, or I'm the only one who had any love for this toy, even though it was mostly from a MOSPEADA point of view. -
Anybody else remember this Transformer? I bought this off of eBay back in 2000 or 2001, figuring it was the closest I was ever going to see to an Alpha/Beta / Legioss/Tread toy. Fighter and bomber are combined into one big plane to get to the combat site, then split into a fighter and a tank, then transform into a smallish robot and a bulky robot with lots of weapons.
