  1. Just a quick note you guys - if you are going to paint your head lasers, it'll be faster to get the un-tinted ones. I've been fooling around with tinting them, and have gotten a color that is light enough, but too yellow - and I only have a black tint, and won't have a white tint till mid week at the earliest...
  2. Tinted a similar grey to what rohby used for his heads - hopefully I'll get it close - we'll find out after this weekend! You'll still have to paint the lasers themselves black - but that shouldn't be that difficult to do... I may be able to do LV tinting - but not sure. I'm going to worry about the regular tinting first before I can say whether or not I can do the LV color...
  3. Alright, finally got the brass tubing in, and spent one evening cutting a whole bunch. Only thing left, is to try to tint them to match rohby's recast head. I am going to start casting them this weekend, and hopefully shipping out the first orders early next week - so if you're interested in these guys, sign up here! Oh, almost forgot the info: name how many you want whether you want them tinted or not (the first few will be a little off, due to experimenting) Pricing - $8 for the first set, $7 for the second, and $6 for each additional - and this includes first class shipping. If you want them sent priority mail, add an additional $2. There is a limit of 4 sets per order - if you want more, I'll gladly fulfill the rest of your order after I've fulfilled everyone else below you (and the pricing for all sets over four is still $6 - it's not going to reset to $. I think that's it... Oh, and in case you haven't seen these yet... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=10924 Order List: gnollman - 3 tinted shipped! Otaku - 2 tinted paid Doctor Paragon - 2 tinted RFP sent RTShark - 1 tinted RFP sent Postman Pat - 2 tinted, 2 regular - 4 total qued EDITED 1.19 - updated list
  4. Finally uploaded the pics to my new account, and re-established the links. Enjoy!
  5. Repeat after me - 27 Centimeters, not inches...
  6. Did you notice anything while braking? Any shuddering or rapid knocking?
  7. Oh, and Daysleeper - we'll talk shipping when your order comes up...
  8. Ok guys... settle down with the preordering. I've still got to get the brass material in stock, and I want to do some tests with tinting (though you'll still need to paint the ends black). I am going to try and tint these guys as close to rohby's head as possible (need to fool around with the pigments a little) - but that is the only color I am going to be tinting - so don't ask me to tint some for use with max and millia, etc... Just to keep the list someplace convenient, here's who I have so far, in order of request... Hurricane29 - 2 hirohawa - 4 Daysleeper - 1 Neova - 007-vf1 - 2 UNSpacy - 2 Stormrider - 1 Die, Alien Scum! - 4 mantisfists - 2
  9. The 1A and 1J head lasers are planned, but they aren't going to be done for a few months - other projects are a priority at this time...
  10. Ok, I finally found a place online that sells the brass tubing I need - so I ordered, oh, about 32 feet of it! So that should be here within the next week. Pricing breaks down as follows: $8 for the first set $7 for the second set $6 for each additional set Prices include shipping in the US - add an extra $2 onto the overall order for priority mail shipping. There will be a limit - I'm thinking it'll be set at four sets - and then I'll complete the rest of your order after I've completed all other open orders. However, this is not to screw people over who want to order more than four sets. This pricing covers all laser sets you ever order from me - so if you order a total of 8 laser sets, you pay $8, $7, then $6 for each additional set - even though I'll be shipping the first four and the last four seperately... EDIT: dumbass - I'm only selling the lasers, not the heads too, why would I say heads?!!?
  11. Twice the price, eh?? Hrmm...
  12. The big sticking point as it stands, is that I can't find the brass tubing anywhere. I cleaned out the only local hobby shop that had them, and they are still waiting on their supplier to get more in - this was a week this past saturday - so he's expecting to get the brass in this week. Once they get the brass in, orders will start being taken (I don't want to have too much of a backlog building up before I'm able to fill any orders)...
  13. Damn, Bandai went after AKO? Guess that means they won't be producing the Gundam Hazel conversion kit either...
  14. Actually, it is closer to 1/48 than 1/60 - the PG MKII is 1/60, and is only 12" or so tall - right in line with the listed height of 18.5 meters from Mahq.net. the 1/48 VF-1 is 10.5" tall, again right in line with Mahq.net. From that pic, it looks like the MKII is about 17" tall, which works out to a scale of about 1/43 - which, from what I was told in elementary school mathematics, is less than 48 - which means that it's alot closer to 48 than it is to 60, and is actually not inbetween 1/60 and 1/48... And, as has been said before, it's from Academy, and has been around since the late 80's or so...
  15. More pics: EDIT: oh, the last pic, and actually all these pics, I should give credit to the guys at G-Sys. Thanks for the update!
  16. Just got an email from G-System, and here's a slew of stuff they are producing very shortly... And now the pics...

Both. Blue was hand painted. White was sprayed. if you're going to hand paint, may I suggest next time thinning the paint more than it is now. Seems like the paint went on kinda thick, and shows the brush strokes. Typically when I am hand painting large areas, I like to have a pallet - a little piece of styrene or something. I'll have a little puddle of thinner on it. I'll dip my paint brush in the jar of paint, and then bring the loaded brush to the pallet, and brush it in with the thinner. You don't need that much thinner, and then you take what's left and brush it on. By thinning the paint slightly, it allows the paint to flow a little better, go on thinner, and helps to eliminate brush strokes in the final paint job...

Looks ok - is it hand painted or spray painted? A dull coat would really help it out...
  19. Just a point, if this project were to go forward - I would HIGHLY recommend making the booster hollow - for two reasons: First - weight savings. Lighter booster, less stress on the valk and on any stand you may try to display it on. Second - cost savings. I would hazzard a guess that it would take half the amount of resin to cast a hollow booster, versus a solid booster. So, you can cast twice as many boosters for a given amount of resin if they were hollow versus solid, and it would in turn make the boosters slightly less expensive. Yes, the mold would cost a little more, and require a little more rubber, but that's a one time cost versus a cost you'd incure every time you cast these guys. Just my two cents...
  20. Yeah, that's what I kinda figured - sitting in the mail truck, heated up nice and hot, and just kinda warped. I knew the originals had a seam running down the sides of them - didn't mean to imply that it was only because of how you molded them. Oh, and just to clear up - this will be made available, for sale, in about a week - once I get a second mold poured, and some more brass tubing. Stay tuned!
  21. Thing is, there is no seam on these head lasers, because the mold doesn't have a parting line that runs down the head laser - it's a continuous mold that surrounds the laser. As far as drilling out the head lasers - it could be done, but it wouldn't be as easy to do...
  22. Check out this THREAD for new and improved head lasers for the 1S!
  23. Alright, so I got rohby's wonderful recast 1S head about a week ago, and there was one small problem with it - the head lasers were warped badly. True, I could have put them under some warm water, and then bent them back to shape, but that's when I started to really take a look at them - now, I don't know if it was the head lasers they were cast from or not, but there is a horrible seam line along the sides of them, and they aren't even round! So, I got to thinking, it'd be great to have 1S (or any other head, for that matter) head lasers that were: 1. Round 2. Had no seam line running down the side 3. Had a hollowed out end So, I got to work, on this quick little project - and made a master laser barrel, that I hope to use on all the 1A and 1J head lasers in the future. I took this master barrel, which is built around a brass tube, cast it, and made a set of 1S head lasers, then cast those. This final mold is complicated - because the head lasers barrels again contain brass tubes, to allow them to be hollow. The brass tubes first need to be cut to length, then roughed up, and a slot must be cut into them, to allow resin to flow properly. The first two pics show the prototype, compared against a rohby head - you can see how warped they are, and how oval shaped they are. The last few pics are the final painted head (crappy paint job, yes I know...). The only problem I've run into - the mounting hole in the side of the head seems to be larger on one head half then the other - and this causes a sloppy fit. Should be fixable with some superglue though. I hope to have these available in the next week, so keep an eye out!
  24. This is the first time I've heard of DH becoming weekly for promos. They do, however, release kits every so often - in the 2 years or so that I received their magazine, I received probably 10 kits - a few of them AoZ kits (1/100 Hazel head, 1/144 Hazel, and a couple others).
  25. For the Elint, Ostrich, High Detail and D conversions, there would be no loss of transformability - I dunno why there would be - I got a third of the way done with a 1/60 Elint conversion kit, and there were no signs that any transformability would be sacrificed. Obviously for the Thunder Hammer and Stampy, they wouldn't transform, because that is the nature of those two beasts...
