So... When can we order!?!?!
-
Bah! Amateurs... It's the MG. The forearms are a dead giveaway, as are the plates around the cockpit. Amateurs?!?! It's more the fact I hate everything Seed related, so I haven't studied up on the MG or PG kits...
-
Is that on the MG or PG?

I betcha alot of us love playing with our monsters - but we don't state it in public! -
Haven't had a chance to get an update on here - have uploaded some progress pics to my brand spankin new webpage - check the updates... http://mechaskunkworks.home.comcast.net/ag.htm

where do you find these 6" men? is it just in their pants?
-
I hear that - my gf is against drinking, and i'm basically sober by association now, since I don't want her to feel like the only person declining drinks at social gatherings... As far as your collection goes, have you tried getting a dvd burner and putting your VHS tapes on dvd? Might make it easier and more efficient to store, and she may let you keep them then (though, I would also just tell her that i was keeping them - but that's just me... ).
-
Ok, so where does one sign up for one of these kits?!?! me want!!!

Actually, the World Wrestling Federation sued the World Wildlife Fund, because their acronyms were the same. Too bad none of their lawyers knew how to look up the fact that the World Wildlife Fund had been in operation for years before the World Wrestling Federation came to be - and so the WWE lost and is now called the WWE...

Probably has something to do with the amount of styrofoam - you are only allowed to have a certain amount of styrofoam in a package. SOC's, since they are smaller, don't require much styrofoam. Predaking, being huge, would require alot of styrofoam... -
you see, this would be cool if you we're making more than just the one. Uhm, it's common knowledge that it is going to be released for public consumption - probably on the order of 40 to 50 kits...

I much prefer this armor to yamato's... http://mechaskunkworks.home.comcast.net/ag.htm

I got a 12" diameter, 3/8" thick wall PVC tube - it was scrap from a job at work - and glued it to a 1/2" thick plate for the bottom, and made a nice top out of a 1/2" sheet of clear acrylic. Work great down to whatever vacuum I want to throw at it - and only apply vacuum to your resin to degas it until it's done boiling over. Don't let it cure under vacuum - I can only assume you'll get large airbubbles, and nasty results. However, I do cure my casts in a pressure chamber - I bought a pressure paint pot from sears for about $100, and after I degas my mold full of resin, I throw the whole thing in the pressure pot at about 50 psi for about 4 hours (depends on the resin being used - until it's cured). Works like a charm, and I hardly ever get air bubbles (as an example, I've probably cast 30 sets of head lasers, and only one of them had a tiny air bubble - all the rest were perfect! ).

Guess no one is really reading the rules, since the Robotech Alpha has been nominated, as has the Aoshima Shin Getter, which was released a few years ago... -
got any link?? This is the same manual that I have a half dozen of the articles translated - most of them casting in nature. Great stuff!

Here are the pics for the shoulder armor I've come up with. You can see how the armor overhangs the edge of the shoulder, and I'm toying with the idea of cleaning up that side by just closing it in - making a sloped surface that closes up that side, and maybe contains a thruster or some sort of vent... Or I'll leave it open - really depends on how it looks... https://home.comcast.net/~macross75/AG/01.JPG https://home.comcast.net/~macross75/AG/02.JPG https://home.comcast.net/~macross75/AG/03.JPG https://home.comcast.net/~macross75/AG/04.JPG https://home.comcast.net/~macross75/AG/05.JPG https://home.comcast.net/~macross75/AG/06.JPG https://home.comcast.net/~macross75/AG/07.JPG https://home.comcast.net/~macross75/AG/08.JPG https://home.comcast.net/~macross75/AG/09.JPG https://home.comcast.net/~macross75/AG/10.JPG EDIT: added other pics - of my shoulder armor in battroid mode

That's just cause I'm that good I guess this is why you asked about the shoulder armor pics - I'll try and get them back online...

Was finally able to free up the casting equipment after doing some mold work and casts for, of all things, work, so now I have a few sets cast and ready to be sent out once I receive payment. I've started sending PM's to those on the list, requesting payment, etc - and I will update the list to keep everyone privy to the status of their order. Oh, and an update - though the head lasers can be used with either an original or a recast head, I have not found an acceptible way to actually get the old lasers off the original head without extensively damaging it in the process - or prying it apart (I ruined a 1S head already trying to figure out a way to do it). Oh well...

Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that the pilot graduated from that school... -
Alright, just to keep you guys updated - been fooling around with the tinting of these guys, and I'm having a beotch of a time with it - I've tried 6 different combinations of tints, and none of them are right. Will continue testing though, so have patience!
-
Another update - I will be letting each of you know individually when your set of head lasers are ready, and then inquiring how you would like to go about payment - I'd prefer PayPal, but postal money orders will also do. Also, after an annoying ordering ordeal (apparently, Smooth-On makes white pigment, they just don't sell it on their website), the white pigment was ordered yesterday. I should be able to get back to tinting later this week...
