Well I finally saw AVP tonight in theatres. +++ SPOILER ALERT +++ It just seemed way rushed... plus it was lame that most of the predators died in a lame way. Plus, why the hell did they change the predator's vision? That looked terrible. I mean... geez... no wonder they got owned by the aliens they couldn't see sh!t. The queen... ok... she's big... kinda cool... but I just don't vibe with the preds running around in the snow. . . along with the aliens. The backstory, while having some cool cg effects of predators fighting off aliens.... just seemed stupid, I can think of any number of stories that would be stupid... but fit a whole lot better. I DO like the fact that the predator's invisibility looks absolutely GORGEOUS... the special effects were top notch and easily beat out any of the other films... but something was missing throughout that I was never able to really put my finger on. I think Anderson must be an aliens fan because those predators got killed WAY too quickly. I mean... christ... the USCM lasted longer than the predators and preds have a long history of fighting them. ALSO... if the predators could see that people were infected by using their x-ray vision, why didn't the whole ship of preds notice their comrade's infection? I mean, assuming he was still alive(to be able to host the alien) then how the hell did that predalien larvae get on that ship? Why was the aliens' incubation stage reduced to like 10 min? Why were they able to grow to FULL SIZE within such a short period? WHY!? WHY!? WHY!? As most of you know, I gave this movie a benefit of a doubt and went in with an open mind. I will admit that there were some awesome moments(such as the pred stabbing the queen in the neck w/ his combi stick) and the lil bladey throwey thingie. I rate this a C-. It had so much potential... it could have been exponentially better. If I am expected to add this to my DVD collection... there had better be some cool gimmick on the DVDs... like a different movie. I never thought I would say this, but while my childhood hasn't been raped persay... Paul W.S. Anderson has certainly touched it in an inappropriate way. He has the achievement of single handedly making the worst Alien and Predator movies at the same time.

Ok ok... spirits of vengeance aside. But then there's Itachi... I suppose he doesn't count as a super-hero though. Perhaps someone like Maverick or another with similar clairvoyance could win. I mean... observing and meddling in all possible outcomes is a handy tool. That's one of the fun things about Superheroes though! Fanboys such as ourselves pitting them against eachother.

See and that's the thing. Batman wouldn't go up to the Flash like an idiot. Batman would use his superior intellect, and vast financial and technological resources to find a way. Batman is like James Bond.... when the sh!t goes down.... the theme music plays and its all over for whoever. Think Shikamaru from Naruto. Batman would be all like "Yo Flash, there's some hot chick over there in the room with the skull n cross bones over the door..." Batman has to be smart... a normal guy taking on super villains... Oh, and Wolverine is pretty damn durable. A hell of a lot more durable than Batman... then again... Batman could still beat him. The Flash can move faster than people can think, however if all the thinking has been done ahead of time(a la Batman) then he'll just fall into the trap that much faster.

They'd better not touch Naruto unless they're going to do it fookin right.

So the general consensus seems to be- "Hardcore Fanboys" - Worst. Movie. Ever.(as usual) "General A/P fans" - Its ok. Nothing special... some good, some bad. Solid "Meh." "Target Audience - 12-16 year olds" - Man... AVP ROCKS I think I fit into General Aliens and Predator fans. I've seen the movies, read a couple EU books and got some toys. Maybe leaning a lil bit towards Hardcore Fanboy... but anyway... I think I will definitely check this out soon because... well I have to know. The preds have many different types of energy weapons, so I think it would be safe to assume that they have many different types of shoulder burners. Just like they have many different types of bladed weapons. I don't think I'm down with the short running time tho.. maybe Anderson is setting us up for an "Extended R Edition: What should have been in theatres."

So the flash can move at the speed of light? Didn't he just barely win a race against Supes? I mean, Supes is fast, but can he think that fast? I dunno. In any case, Batman would just outwit them.

Spoiler alert! ALF SHOOTS FIRST!!! Yep. George Lucas and his apprentice Bill Gates are secretly building a Death Star XP Professional in Redmond. From there, they will exert total control over all media in the galaxy.

Stupid Olympics. Well... at least all the nations coming together is cool.

I have yet to see a good Sledge ep... I'm only on 4 tho. Some parts are cool... but I guess I just enjoyed it more when I was a kid. Ah well... I've wasted $20 on worse.

It deals with an alien species that reproduces through a slightly stylized version of rape, that's why Ew... unless the partner is a willing Ripley... *shudder* Not that Ripley isn't beautiful in her way, but alien humpin Ripley is not only disgusting... but it kinda... I dunno.... went downhill from there. I mean... the "last boss" in that movie was so lame.

Now that's kind of cool. *crosses fingers* I don't care if everyone else hates it. If it entertains ME... I'll be ok.

I think it's funny how they kept saying they wanted to be as true to the original Giger alien and not add colors like in Alien: Resurrection, yet when you see the aliens for this movie they have browns and stuff, and the smooth head crest has been replaced by "treads". wtf!?! My wife even thinks it would've been much cooler if they followed the original comic over this POS. a) The aliens in the second film had the "treads" a la the Scorpion Alien toy from Kenner/Dark Horse... If its not an exact match, they still had non-smooth heads. Check when Hicks looks above the ceiling paneling... I think that shows it nicely. b) From what I've heard... "treads" is unique... but I dunno... I thought he was supposed to be some recurring drone though I could be wrong. On a side note.. when I picked up the AvP 2 pack from Kenner back in the day they had a nice, generic drone with a smooth, clear plastic forehead so you could vaguely make out the alien skull inside. Both the alien and predator in that pack were as close to the originals as Kenner ever got IIRC... sure McFarlane toys LOOK better... but these are ACTION FIGURES... still intact after years of abuse. I'd like to see a Verhoven or Raimi version of either franchise... hell even Shymalan could probably do something interesting with Alien or Pred.

Well unless what I'm hearing is just fanboyism... I'm thinking that any one of us could direct a better movie. We'll see though... I did like Event Horizon.

Dammit and I wanted this movie to be cool. But I suppose I'll find out for myself. I like the new pred designs.... But a buncha other stuff thats turning up sounds retarded. I was hoping to see this preview tonight, but I'll be on a plane to Texas. Keep me posted on what happens guys.

Well, I mean TRU has crappy prices for the most part. I always went there last in my toy hunts because I knew I'd be paying through the nose, sometimes up to $10-$20 more than the other competitors in Anchorage. We have some decent Comic/Anime/Gaming shops(primarily because the founder of the place started out sellin comics out of a van in Anchorage and built up... his philosophy is "everything sells, buy everything" and he takes his philosophy to the store. Its been working so far and I always try to go browse when I'm down there. TRU was cool when it first came to town.. but they can fall off the face of the earth for all I care. Personally I would like to see a newegg style toy store with a balance between good prices, fast shipping, and massive selection. Ah well.

Batman vs Predator vs Aliens vs Terminator vs Robocop vs Freddy vs Jason vs Arnold Batman would win. (I realize that Arnold is the Terminator... but we all know that they all don't look like Arnie. They could have one like the kid and dog(that was FREAKY) in the Robocop vs Terminator comic!) Anyway, these reviews are from AICN... and I don't really buy everything the people there write because it just seems to be a fanboy/garage movie snob breeding ground. However, those review have got me set up to think it will be bad... a la Highlander 4. Anyway, I'm probably going to see it this weekend so I'll let you guys know what I think. I'm sure we'll hear a lot of opinions on here before then though. Hopefully I can at least enjoy the action. I also hope that it is successful enough to maybe generate another Predator movie, perhaps Rated R. I always envisioned an older Arnold doing something... It really disappoints me that the mythos was changed. I mean, if Preds sucked without their burners, then why the heck do they use all the other stuff? I mean really. I DO like what I've seen of the pred designs though, its nice to see some new gear. Perhaps they'll throw in a new combi-stick variant or something... I didn't REALLY like the Dark Horse AVP... but it was still decent... like the only change I would make to the story is having Noguchi die at the end or something, ANYTHING but being accepted into the pack of preds!!! The idea of her running around with a pack of preds was kinda... stupid to me.

Predator almost beat Arnold. Arnold > Predators > Aliens Preds will win... and all the non-Arnolds will lose.

Last I checked, Lucas wasn't suffering too much from fan backlash. His fanbase is not made entirely out of hardcore fanboys. They do buy the most toys though.

Hahah... yes! Didn't they do something to that effect w/ Highlander 4? I was going to ask earlier, but I didn't want to get too OT. I've heard that the Theatrical release is different from the DVD. Which is probably a good thing because umm.... the one I saw in theatres was a total waste of my time... and I love Highlander. (pff... they killed the cool one too)...
