That's a race where there are no losers!

That's pretty cool. Somehow it seems like something that could have been part of the original series soundtrack. I can't help but be reminded of one of the tracks on the Macross Complete CD set. It's the one with the sax intro. Can't recall the name of it at the moment. On another topic. What's with all the YouTube videos of masked girls dancing and lip syncing to Seikan Hikou. In some of them it gets cut in by another song at the end. The girls act puzzled as to the "glitch". Is it supposed to be funny or just some sort of viral video type of thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrDzzQ1ATag http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgUMI5F2TzE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6d_REjMm84

OK, I'm cured. Thanks man. In case anyone else suffers from the same predicament follow the link. It's guaranteed to get that song out of your head. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gnf6DCMBGSI

AHHH! my ETA counter on uTorrent is going up not down. Why is the last 5% taking so long?!! Edit: OK, done! And to think I was about to go to bed. What the hell was I thinking? One more chance to see Grace give Nanase a run for her money. What an image to remember before I dream tonight. -
They're actually weapons, and she is just locking and loading before the big fight.

Am I the only one that feels the way the sheets are organized is not really intuitive? Maybe I would feel better about it if I could read Japanese. I just feel that they could have simply numbered the sheets 1 through XX within each divided section and not worry about categories and sub-categories. I suppose the numbering scheme is done that way in order to be flexible with adding sheets here and there. I just thought they would have already planned out the content in the very beginning before anything is released. I would have preferred to have DYRL sheets put right after the Macross series in the Macross time line instead of towards the end. Is the position of DYRL because it's supposed to be a movie released in the M7 timeline? I found it interesting that they would place all the Macross II items at the very end. It seems as if it's the red-headed step-child of the Macross chronology. No offense to you red-headed step-children Macross fans out there. The "Special Sheet" divider could have been divided further into Song Sheet, Gallery Sheet, and Goods Sheet dividers IMO. Just being a little nit picky I guess. Overall, I am happy with the content and am looking forward to the future issues.

Like you, I really wanted something cool of the original VF-17 Nightmare from M7. from the Macross Compendium: [since the VF-17 Nightmare proved difficult to mass-manufacture, the VF-171 has been comparatively downgraded. However, it also received various improvements and modifications to extend the unit's service use including improved aerodynamic characteristics, and enhanced maneuverability. Its low cost, ease of piloting, and variety of optional equipment have made it highly versatile and cost-effective.] It's interesting that the Macross Compendium would put that because it also states that the VF-17A and the VF17D are mass production type VF-17 Valkyries. I do prefer the more blunt look of the VF-17. It looks more stealthy IMO. But, just like the VF-4 not being a larger scale, I'll take what I can get. Even if it's not exactly the VF-17s. vs

We are speculating that the VF-2S will eventually be in the line-up because the bottom of the advert has the Macross II logo. What if it's actually, the VF-1MS "Metal Siren" that will get released.

discontinued means discontinued and not currently offered by the manufacturer. HLJ will have a grey square and "Out of Stock" for things that they simply do not have in stock. From the HLJ website: [Discontinued: Item is out of stock and the manufacturer has discontinued it. We don't expect to get any additional stock for the forseeable future. Out-of-stock items are displayed with squares (in-stock items with circles). Black squares with a "jolly roger" skull and crossbones indicate items that we have no stock of, and that have been discontinued by the manufacturer. Because there is no chance of getting such items in the near future, we don't accept orders for them. Keep in mind, however, that other merchants could very well have stock of such items, particularly stores outside of Japan. In addition, companies such as Tamiya, Bandai and others will frequently place older products on a long-term reissue cycle. Products like these may be issued only once every few years. Between these long reissues, the products will show as discontinued on our web site if we're out of stock, but they may very well be available again at some point in the (distant) future. "Never give up!"]

Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
sharky replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Ouch, $50 does sound a bit high for a 1/100 scale toy. I guess the hook is that they are making many of the lesser produced valks that people will pay the higher price anyway. -
Well then, you can stuff your confusion in a sack mister! Seriously though, my vote went to the VF-4. I would prefer a larger scale, but I'll take what I can get. The fact that the scale should make them a decent price(let's hope) is appealing however. My #2 choice would be the VF-171 because I always wanted a VF-17 toy other than the chunky monkey M7 Bandai version.

Who had the manliest death in Macross?
sharky replied to sucker4meltrans's topic in Movies and TV Series
Remember, the poll is about who had the manliest death in Macross. Although, there probably should be a poll with respect to the most tragic death. I think the spirit of the poll has been lost on some people. I guess each have their own definition of what is manly. The way I interpreted it was who probably had the most testosterone pumping through their veins at the time, who went out with the biggest bang, and who went out with the most gusto(for lack of a better word). I went for Guld for those reasons, but I wouldn't classify it as the most tragic or heartfelt. -
Only a Jedi would have the ability to delete something from the archives.

Yeah, I can appreciate the fact that it is the original TV design, but I still feel it is grossly out of proportion. I feel the same way about the chunky monkey valks. There was a time that I really wanted one of those toys because it is big and really the best toy at the time of the SDF-1. When I was kid I like the chunkies because I could play with it as much as I wanted. I didn't have to be careful that it would break easily. I think Yamato and WAVE have spoiled me into expecting much more from a toy. I was always frustrated because I never was that interested in building models, yet I always liked how accurate and beautiful a finished model could be. I was always wishing that companies would make decent toys that looked accurate to the anime. I've said it before, I would love for Yamato, or whomever, to make an SDF-1 toy of the 1:3000 scale variety.
-
I would much rather spend way less money and get a WAVE. Sure, it's much smaller, but it looks way cooler in both modes. Also, I think Graham mentioned that a SDF-1 was still on the list of possible releases for Yamato. I would seriously wait to see before spending a huge amount of money on the old Taka toys. I wonder if Bandai would ever do a re-release under the "Origin of..." series? I seriously doubt anyone would be foolish enough to spend $600 on that particular one. You may still find what you are looking for on ebay. Just have patience. There will always be someone willing to part with theirs at some point in time. Just one guys opinion.

I'm so glad Shinsen Subs is back. I believe they are the best quality .avi files. I am not even keeping anything but the Shensen Subs and the highest resolution RAWs.

I've always been a fan of starships and large battle cruisers etc. That's why I like Star Trek so much. I try to collect various starships and cruisers for Gundam as well. I wish they made toys of all the different Zentradi and UN Spacy ships. Battle Frontier and Macross Quarter would be nice. I really do hope Yamato makes a Macross. I like my WAVE, but I do wish it was bigger.

As a fan of Gunbuster I like the idea that they are some sort of black hole technology. However, within the Macross universe I suspect that is is more of a super dimensional technology. Perhaps it's some sort of dirty fold type of technology that simply folds the sh** out of whatever is in it's fold zone. It does it in a bad way that grabs and folds an object piece by piece. Sending little pieces all over the galaxy or perhaps into other dimensions permanently.

For some reason I am feeling nostalgic today. I just feel that it's such a cool time to be a Macross fan. What with Frontier and all the cool toys I feel like I'm in a Macross renaissance right now. Back in the day, I was so young with no money and no internet. Back then I was watching Robotech reruns after school. It was really hard to get any cool Macross items. The only way to get anything was through mail order from a catalog listing printed on newspaper stock, or I had to travel pretty far to get to a decent convention in the hopes that some dealer would have any Macross stuff. I was watching a bad VHS bootleg of Clash of the Bionoids. My only valk toy was a Jetfire transformer. Most of my friends didn't even know what anime was, let alone Macross. I tried to hip them to it. Contrast that scene to now. Now I'm watching the latest series as it's being broadcast in Japan. I am at a point in my life and career where I can actually afford the items I really want. The internet has made it possible to get the latest news and updates on all things Macross. I can pretty much get anything I want without even leaving my house. Yamato is creating the absolute coolest Macross toys ever made. Hi-def TV and Blue-ray media comes along. I'm listening to Macross music streaming from my Ipod to my car stereo in the morning. The list goes on and on. I feel old now,"in my day, sonny, we didn't have all these fancy computers and such..."

It always frustrates me when super limited exclusives of anything is released. Why can't they simply release a reasonable quantity that they project will sell. The con exclusives are really the most extreme example if this. If you are lucky enough to be there and get them, you can snag it for a reasonable price. But then the demand far out paces supply, and you have a huge mark up on ebay. It's always of the coolest things, and is usually more than I am willing to pay for it.
