Why oh why do my favorite shows get canceled. Yet, we are coming up on season 13 of The Bachelor. IMHO the Terminator series is suffering due to the fact that you really need to be a fan of the movies in order to fully appreciate the show. After the last Terminator movie I can see why some people may have lost interest. I think some things probably go over the heads of average viewers. I used to hear people gripe that they couldn't really understand The Matrix movies. Of course these are people who were not really into Sci-fi which is my point. Sci-fi is just a tough thing to do as a TV series because you need it to appeal to more than just your die hard sci-fi fan. They should have waited to do the show after the the new movie comes out next year. That is if the movie does well. Then you might have a renewed interest in the franchise.

I'm continuing my repeat viewing of SDF:M. I have been taking it slow. I'm only up to episode 9 right now. I will continue on with M+, MII, and finally get around to watching all of M7 and everything related to it (i.e. Dynamite 7, Encore, the Galaxy's Calling Me, etc.). I'll probably try to find Macross 7 Trash in English as well. Looking forward to the new OST2 coming out in a couple of days, and the movie sometime in the not too distant future. Ditto for the VF-100 line and all the new Macross toys coming out in the future.

Thanks for the update. Although there are Costco's in my area I don't shop there. I was just going off of what came in my Sunday paper. It is frustrating that every store puts out different gimmicks. I suppose since they are around the same price you should get whatever suits your fancy. After looking over the link you provided I would have preferred to get the Steelbook package version. I ended up getting the Target version only because I thought it had some extra bonus footage, but I think I fell victim to some clever wording on the ad. I have yet to confirm that it does have anything more than the other 2-disc sets. IMO the Steelbook looks much cooler than the plastic mask packaging.
-
This just in! I think the "bonus footage" that Target advertises is simply a gimmick. They are referring to the 2-disc set having bonus footage compared to the single-disc set. I was browsing the DVDTalk Forum and some guy mentioned it. Target Ad: "Blu-ray Disc and deluxe DVD have exclusive mask packaging and additional bonus footage." The key is that they are using exclusive only in reference to the mask packaging. I will be really p**sed off if this is really true. I just bought it during my lunch break, and I have no way of knowing if I have any more content than the regular 2-disc set. http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargains/5399...ollectible.html

Yeah, I know that at DragonCon, here in Atlanta, there seems to be a separation between evening festivities and daytime festivities. The daylight hours seem to be less risque and a bit more family friendly. It's been know to get less family friendly at night, but there are no hard and fast rules it seems. DragonCon is primarily for adults, IMO. You tend to see much more revealing costumes(worn by adults). Heck, there are some women wearing nothing more than a skimpy G-string, pasties, and body paint. Not, that I'm complaining. But, I would never take my daughter to DragonCon. In contrast to Anime Weekend Atlanta which is another heavy cosplay event. This con is dominated by teens and pre-teens. Subsequently, it is highly restrictive with respect to costume rules and regulations. I tend not to attend AWA so much because I can feel downright awkward cruising the con with all the "kids'.

What do you guys think of the Insignia Blu-ray Player? It's listed for $229. That's the cheapest I've seen a stand alone BD player. I am really anticipating the Black Friday sales. I suspect we could see BD players below the $200 mark! That would be my cue to finally get one. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1204332499513 Does anyone know if these Insignia players have region code hacks?

I don't like that Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, and Walmart are all putting out slightly different DVD sets. Best Buy $39.99 2-disc set with Sideshow Collectibles mini bust and $50 gift card for Sideshow Collectibles, and free Iron Man lithograph $22.99 2-disc set with an Iron Man lithograph Circuit City $22.99 2-disc set with 6 digital comics for download Target $22.99 2-disc set with special mask packaging and bonus footage Walmart $19.96 "Mom Pack" 1-disc set with bonus soundtrack sampler, and the Pilot episode of the Iron Man animated series. $19.96 2-disc set with Fanboy Comic Book I am leaning toward the Target set for the "bonus footage" which doesn't seem to be in the other sets. However, the special mask packaging is not really something I care about. I got the Transformers one last time and wasn't that impressed. It just meant it took up more room on my shelf. The Best Buy set is intriguing because of the $50 gift card which would put you ahead by $10. Assuming you wanted to buy something from Sideshow Collectibles anyway. But, I don't really want to blow $40 on anything right now. The Walmart sets are the cheapest but by only a few bucks so it really comes down to who has the best content or goodies. All I want is the most DVD content for the least amount of money, but there are pros and cons to each set for me.

Yeah, that was me. You make an interesting point. You can get yourself into a paradox thinking about it. If Skynet never sends back any machines to build itself will it in fact get built? The thing is they sent back Arnold in the first movie because John Connor was in fact a threat and they must have feared that they would really lose. Remember John is the one who turns the tide in the losing battle. After the last episode Garbage Chick again states that she wants to reverse engineer a machine. Then again, it's hard to accept anything she says as it all may be lies to cover her real motives. The fact that Skynet started to send back machines to kill Sarah and later John alerted Sarah to the fact that she needs to prevent Skynet from getting built. With this new threat Skynet does need to ensure it gets created. If Skynet never sent back any machines in the first place I would agree that Skynet would need to do nothing to ensure it gets developed in the past. Machines don't seem to be very smart in the end, or they exhibit pretty simple logic. That's the advantage humans have over them. Machines can be tricked due to ignorance and lack of experience IMO. If Skynet made them more human like and instill a fear of dying in them then they would probably be more clever and think of better ways to kill humans and ensure their own survival at the same time. The one thing that really intrigued me was Garbage Chick's little girl. What the heck was that about? Was she also a shape shifting terminator disguised as a child? That would seriously be a new twist to things. Looking forward to seeing that plot line develop.

Macross Frontier Final Episode Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
sharky replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
IMO they probably wanted to keep the ending a secret for fear of it being leaked out. They probably did the last few minutes with a limited number of people and with people that are not part of the regular animating crew. That's probably why it seems different. Heck, maybe SK did some of it himself. Edit: and with this post it makes the count top the 900 mark. I wonder if any other thread in MW history as gotten so large this quickly? -
Aikun will be a fourth turning the love triangle into a love square.

I dunno, it may have more to do with his player in this particular example. I couldn't get it to play on my older Sony player for the reason of not being region 1. Also, scanning the DVD on my computer using AnyDVD it came back as a region 2 disc. Sony players are known for not being hackable without some hard-wired chip. Some of the newer lesser known branded DVD players out there may in fact be able to play most anything, or have very simple hacks you can do right from your remote control. Cypher mentioned he has a Philips player which typically has a simple hack and are known to play almost every type of media.

I ended up going on Sunday around noon. I live about 10 min away from where it was held, so I decided to check it out. Overall, it was a good event. I think they might have learned from past mistakes because it did seem to be well organized. Perhaps with the local gas shortage many people stayed home. Perhaps Sunday is a less crowded day as well. There was a healthy crowd of people but it wasn't too crowded by any measure. Lots of people in kimonos, a few people in other Japanese costumes. There were plenty of food vendors and some booths had free samples of snacks and drinks. I was there all day for the most part and there wasn't any shortages of food or drinks. The whole family went and there seemed to be something of interest for everyone even the little ones. I think if they had added in a video game event for the older kids with Japanese import games it probably would have been even better. It was a very nice venue to hold any kind of convention or festival. The martial arts demo was pretty cool. One group was doing choreographed 5 on 1 demos which was well done IMO. Even the younger students were doing flips and other acrobatic style moves that wowed people. It was really an impressive exhibition. The swordsmanship demo was interesting as well. They were slicing and dicing the practice targets pretty well. They had 2 anime viewing rooms. I wasn't sure if what they were showing would be appropriate for a 5 year old, so I didn't stick around very long. From what I could tell they seemed to be showing some interesting stuff. There was a Japanese rock band called Sinatra that was good. http://e.sinatra.jp/profile.htm They played in another performance hall that was separate from the main venue. There were other music performances in that particular auditorium which minimized the noise from other events. There was a bit of excess noise from the marital arts demo that would bleed over into some of the other areas because it was really one big hall separated by dividers. I think they tried to put the more popular music performances in the nicer auditorium for that reason. One thing of note that I discovered while I was there was the Japanese book store Books Japan. They are a store in Smyrna and from the website they do magazine subscriptions. Hello, Macross Chronicles? I will find out if they can do the Macross Chronicles subscription and for how much. I want to find out if it's cheaper than getting it from HMV. Books Japan 2082 Cobb Pkwy SE Smyrna, GA 30080 booksjapan@gmail.com http://www.booksjapanatlanta.com/ (this is a Japanese language website) Mon-Fri 11am-8pm Sat 10am-8pm Sun 11am-7pm phone: 770-951-8272 fax: 770-951-8260 Overall, I would recommend this festival to anyone in the Atlanta area.

Do me a favor and pick up a can of Hulk Hogan's energy drink the next time you go shopping. I'm curious to see what happens.
-
So, which is the correct direction? Clockwise or counter-clockwise?

Then why even watch Macross then? The love triangle is a major plot element in the series. One could easily say, "who cares of the Frontier fleet gets wiped out". There are plenty of other fleets in the Galaxy to carry on the human race.

Macross Frontier season 2? I don't want it to end...
sharky replied to Enders's topic in Movies and TV Series
I suggest you don't go into any of the talkback threads otherwise you will bombarded with spoiler after spoiler. Shinsen is up to ep14 now. I can understand that you would like to wait for the Shinsen ones, but they seem to take a long time. The final episode is ep25. -
Japanfest is going on this weekend Sept 27 and 28. From the website: "JapanFest, now in its 22nd year, is the largest Japanese festival in the Southeast..." I missed it last year. I am curious to see what all they have. From what I read there will be anime viewing provided by Atlanime http://www.japanfest.org/ http://www.atlanime.net/

Oh, I see. I have been re-watching SDF:M lately but I haven't come to that part yet. It's been so long since I watched it last I forgot. Thanks. And, here I go thinking something else. I guess I have a dirty mind that way. Bad sharky!

I took it to mean avoid the boards all together.

FYI, I noticed that a couple of ebay stores out of the West coast have decent deals on the SOC Gunbuster GX-34. Or, what I consider my personal Holy Grail of Gunbuster toys. They are US listings so the shipping is reasonable. Best price I've found so far since it was released a couple of years ago. I missed the boat when it was first released. I'm expecting mine to come in any day now. http://cgi.ebay.com/SOC-GX-34-Soul-of-Chog...id=p3286.c0.m14 http://cgi.ebay.com/Bandai-Soul-of-Chogoki...id=p3286.c0.m14

Well, it was stated on the final episode talkback thread that the spoiler tag rule was void for the final episode. It didn't make sense to me to do that, but I guess the mods figured everyone would be caught up in the excitement and watch it right away. Please proceed with caution in any of the threads on this board.

meninge, thanks for all the work putting the chart together. It is nice to be able to compare all the sizes. Can't wait to see the addition of the F-14. BTW, I get that the term "booby ducks" is referring to FAST packs on the VF-1, but I still don't get the joke. OK, I suppose I can get the "booby" part on a VT-1. I know it's probably obvious to some of you, but please enlighten me.

Macross Frontier Final Episode Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*

Well, don't we all have one. When she started ripping off her clothes I was thinking "whoa baby!" And, then she got all tentacled and vieny and then I was thinking "eewww!" BTW, why is Grace still wearing her glasses at the end? I assumed it was simply part of her disguise so people wouldn't know her true nature. -
You'll be happy with it I'm sure Cypher. It really is an awesome box set. The books have quite a bit of content in them. I wasn't expecting them to be so thick. The entire set is quite heavy you'll find. In the past I was watching it on my computer before I got my DVD player. I noticed that the Philips DVD players usually have simple hacks to re-set the region code to whatever you want. I bought the cheapest one at Target and it worked great. However, I took it back because I want to get the up-converting one. Enjoy the box set!
