I assume you are referring to the Matchbox toys, yes? The ones later released as Exo Squad toys. I never really thought about the scale of those. I mean, it is certainly not to scale for the figure that fits inside, and I don't think it's even to scale for the larger figure that doesn't fit inside either. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what scale they are or supposed to be? With regard to the Q-Raus, the Max version sold out fairly quickly the first time around IIRC. The Millia was typically available even if it sold out in some places. I remember getting the first version Millia on e-bay for $80. If HLJ puts the re-issued Max on sale later, I will probably get it. Otherwise, I would rather put my limited funds towards some of the newer things being released by Yamato and Bandai. Another factor to consider with regard to things selling well is the shipping. Shipping has gone way up since the time the first Q-Raus were released. That is definitely going to be a factor at least for the import market.

Now I'm thinking someone should create a picture of the SDF-1 with some sort of laser ax as an arm. That would be cool if we could see it slicing into an enemy ship.
-
Question: What is Misa holding in that panel? Looks like a cane or something.
-
Yes, as most everyone here knows. The SDF-1 was not originally intended to transform. It was only done out of necessity during their journey back to earth. The fact that the Daedalus and Prometheus look like claws is coincidental due to the ship designs which were primarily intended for sea duty.

No kidding, about the manual operation of the main cannons. But, that doesn't make any sense. How is the pilot supposed to operate the pod and fire the cannons at the same time. It would make better sense to have some sort of targeting computer where the cannons can aim by themselves.

I came across this listing for a book that looks to be only about valkyries. Does anyone out there have the scoop on this. From description: "Book features VF-1 Valkyrie. Content: photo session, history of Valkyrie development, description of cockpit and equipage, troops description, and more. Spec: A4, 128-page" http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?K..._campaign=ANIME

Check this out. This guy is selling his entire GI-Joe collection in one huge lot on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/GI-JOE-COLLECTION-Huge...93%3A1|294%3A50

Cool. I really like those "battle tech" mechs made from lego. That's probably the only way to get a decent sized glaug these days.

I think this is the HLJ pre-order listing for this figure. http://www.hlj.com/product/MEG71198

I'm busting with excitement that I had to post. Today I was at Wal-mart during my lunch break doing my usual check on the toy section. Then an employee gets on the intercom and says that all the toys in the clearance aisle are an additional 50% off. I found the 25th anniversary Optimus Prime for $27.50. I couldn't believe my luck! It was already marked down to $55 from $69. This one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?...uct_id=10339834 The lady at the checkout mentioned that they had done this the day before as well. There were no signs anywhere to tell people of the 50% sale, only the lady on the intercom. So, you might want to check out your local Wal-Mart. Also, the 50% discount wasn't automatic when scanned. The cashier had to manually cut the price. I also picked up the Force Unleashed 3-pack w/ Vader and 2 Incinerator troopers. http://www.rebelscum.com/tacTFUincinerators.asp

Thanks for the link David. I hadn't seen GI-Joe episodes in ages. You know how you might watch an old TV show as an adult and you think to yourself "why did I ever like this show when I was a kid". But, I actually found myself interested in the story on this. I think I like it becuase the characters are not really 1-dimensional. There were sub-plots and various undertones. For example, the relationship between Baroness and Destro, or Scarlett and Duke.

OMG, you really need to see the original. It is very short, but really cool. There's no time to waste! Go now! Seriously though, it is one of those things that every anime fan should watch.

Just a heads up. Fathom Events is putting out a release of "Sword of the Stranger". This Thursday Feb. 5th, at 7:30pm at select theaters nationwide. http://www.fathomevents.com/details.aspx?eventid=765 It is a movie produced by Studio BONES of Cowboy Beebop fame. They will also show a behind-the-scenes featurette. To be honest I've never heard of this movie before, but I usually try not to miss a chance to see any kind of anime on the big screen. In my neck of the woods it is a rare occasion to see anime in theaters.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but HLJ now has Macross Chronicle issues 1-14 and the binder. What I like about it is that I can get them shipped via SAL rather than EMS which takes longer but saves on cost. If you recall HMV seems to only ship these via EMS. So, this changes my whole price structure and I will probably get all the issues now.

I've paid to see movies that I was less interested in than this one. The fact that it is RT will get me in the door. I'm just hoping that the special effects will be good enough to hold my attention.

I went ahead and bought it just for the art as I always do. I'll probably buy it again if it ever gets translated, but something tells me that it will never get released here in the US. cough...HG...cough...

You do realize that these are based on the new movie actors and not TOS. Though the 3 3/4 figures do suck regardless of who they are sculpted after. Why can't Art Asylum continue to do the new movie figures since they are doing everything else? I used to think my Playmates ships were cool, until I got my Art Asylum Enterprise E and TWOK Enterprise. Now I want nothing to do with Playmates Star Trek toys.

Don't want to get off topic, but from what I've read it is dead for now. If another movie comes out in the future, we could see some new releases. http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=262&itemid=13574 We should start a new topic for this though.

I wonder what on-line stores will carry these? As far as I could tell HMV doesn't have them listed. I don't really live near any Japanese bookstores. Is ebay my only option? I'd like to at least get them for cover price +shipping. What is the likelihood that these would translated into English at some point in the future? I would like to hope that it will some day, but I'm also impatient and simply want it now for the art. Perhaps my fellow MWers will translate?

That was a cool video. Very well made. Just like the movie The Thing.

Here's a link to enlighten those who are not in the know. http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT34525 It's not my cup of tea, but I can see how a fan can get excited by this toy. The airport diorama is pretty clever.

The Macross Quarter. DX Chogokin
sharky replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Isn't Battle Frontier much bigger than the Quarter? Maybe they will be to scale and they didn't want Battle Frontier to become way to big to be reasonably priced. Or, dare I say we will see some sort of huge Macross Frontier toy as well. No kidding, I'm going nuts over here waiting for this. Definitely a must buy for me. BTW, the WAVE SDF-1 is freaking awesome regardless of the size. I would caution those who are on the fence not to wait too long because I seriously doubt it will ever go on sale on HLJ. At some point it will be discontinued and sold out. -
Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
sharky replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Just wake me up when they start to release pics for the VF-4, VF-17, and/or VF-171. -
The B-wings don't seem to be moving at my local Toys R Us. They've been sitting there since long before Christmas. I think they are just a little too expensive IMO. I'm waiting until they go on clearance.

Princess Leia looks a tad hippy to me.
