  1. Actually, now that you mention it, I'm really surprised they haven't already done a Delta Force or Missing in Action remake. I mean, Stallone did another Rambo movie all these years later, why not Norris? Honestly, though, I wouldn't mind if someone did remakes of bad movies and actually made them good. I really think Total Recall could stand for a remake as I never liked the last one.
  2. All I can say is "what the....!" I was blown away when I saw the tiny little bridge bunnies. The attention to detail is incredible. You really need to submit this to a model magazine or something once it is all finished. Maybe Big West will offer to buy it from you and stick in some Macross museum at their corporate office. Wouldn't it be cool that once you finish it another person continues the legacy and starts on the SDF-1.
  3. You just made me think about an inflatable pool toy that you can sit in. You could have the legs bent at 90 deg to form the part you lay on. The two side ships can be the arm rests, and the upper torso and cannons can be the back rest.
  4. Any chance to show a mutated adult baby growing out of another person is a recipe for a runaway blockbuster hit in my book.
  5. Heh, heh... It's not as straight forward as one would think.
  6. Oh, I don't know, Ridley Scott did a fine job on the first one. It's too bad he won't be directing the prequel either. James Cameron does have a way of kicking ass though. At least we can expect a new sci-fi movie, Avatar, in the future. http://scifiwire.com/2009/05/new-concept-art-images-fr.php You always here stories about seemingly good movies on paper that turned out bad becuase the Hollywood producers and execs changed things around for various reasons. Why can't the Hollywood execs ever mandate that all future movies don't suck! Is that really too much to ask?
  7. Cyclone Trooper, I don't think you will get much argument from anyone here as to the quality of the Macross Frontier soundtrack. IMO it is very good and on par with anything in Hollywood.
  8. Heck, it's still damn good in this time. I think the limitations in FX just made the movie more suspenseful and mysterious. They had to be more creative in the way the alien was portrayed so that you didn't lose that realism which makes the movie scary. IMO a lot of movie makers have become lazy and just throw everything out there without considering how to tell a story the right way. The FX toolbox has gotten better, but you don't necessarily have to use every tool just because you can. Many neglect the story just for the sake of being able to highlight the special effects.
  9. Oh, yeah! I forgot about that. He even picked him up with his fist still inside him! It's too bad Bill Paxton wasn't conscious because then he could have said "Game over man!" LOL!
  10. I keep imagining what you are saying being spoken like the opening of TNG shows. Patrick Stewart: "Space... the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, and blast the crap out of them, to boldly go where no one has gone before!"
  11. Yup, I would say that Pixar is in the family movie business as opposed to strictly children's movies. I think that's the key to any good "children's" movie. I don't think there's a need to water things down so much for children, unless you are targeting extremely young ones like the around the 4 and under crowd. In which case their attention spans are usually not long enough to sit through an entire feature length movie, so what's the point I say.
  12. That skull that got crushed was incinerated in a nuclear blast so I would think it's probably cracked and very brittle. Still a terminator's weight might be enough to crush a skull if it stomped on it like that. Not completely sure. You are probably right about a terminator being able to punch through a human, but I think that it might also have to do with leverage. You may have to hold a person from being thrown back from the force perhaps. We did see a terminator punch through a human in T3, but she made had her fingers pointed straight IIRC rather than a fist which would distribute the load preventing actual penetration perhaps. Maybe you saw Marcus being socked in the trailer? Marcus is a hybrid terminator.
  13. I see your point. I think the reason people want to add comments, at least for me, is that it has to do with trying to stick up for the guy that was wronged. I am guilty of chiming in on the blacklist thread. In my example I felt so bad for Save since he is such a great MW member and has been very kind to everyone here. I think it was only natural for some people, myself included, to rally around him by condemning the guy he had a problem with. In my example I was trying to point out the fallacy of the guy's logic and why it didn't justify his actions toward Save. In retrospect it is probably best to simply let the two parties involved work it out. As you mentioned, things could easily get out of hand with a mob mentality and all. I'll make it a point to stay out of the blacklist thread unless I am directly involved.
  14. Now all you need is another one playing the bongo or some sort of string instrument.
  15. That looks really cool all painted up and everything. Sigh, there is just too many cool Macross toys and not enough money to buy it all.
  16. Personally, I would like to see an Alien vs Predator vs Colonial Marine vs Terminator vs Robocop vs Iron Man vs Chuck Norris. Everyone travels through time and dimension to fight the ultimate fight. Sort of an inter-galactic Bloodsport. If I'm crazy enough to think it up here, then I'm sure someone in Hollywood has that on the back burner.
  17. I wonder what a prequal to Alien really means. Will there even be any humans in it? Has there ever been a live action movie with absolutely no humans at all? I'm not talking about an alien that looks exactly like a human from Earth either. Off the top of my head I can't think of one, but I'm sure there must have been at least one.
  18. It's not a fact that TX new anything about Kyle Reese. All these records and documents about Kyle Reese that may or may be readily accessible via a network and TX finding out about it is your speculation. It was never established in the movie that TX uploaded info on Kyle Reese to Skynet. The real Skynet that was totally self aware wasn't even activated until the military decided to completely go live in order to combat the virus that was attacking. This was at the very end of the movie. The TX used the existing network to track down the future generals and military leaders. She wasn't even looking for John. It was pure luck that John Conner happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when the TX was going after his future wife. I'm not bitching and moaning. You're doing that. If you've run out of ways to support the plot holes in TS just say so. I am trying to follow the events of the movies as is presented, but that's where everything gets stuck in plot holes that began with T3 and continues into TS. You're the one coming up with speculation to support the plot of TS. If you don't care so much about the story why are you arguing with me so much? I was a big fan of the Terminator movies until these last 2 movies came out. After watching TS I almost thought it wasn't that bad, but then I started thinking about how dumb the story is. That's what is so disappointing.
  19. You mean from records that got destroyed in a nuclear blast that Skynet initiated just after becoming self aware? There were 3 time traveling events in the movie timeline. None of which would have changed Kyle's birthdate nor the fact of John Connor's age during the events of T2. The point is changing future events by changing the past not changing past events in the future.
  20. I guess never having really watched much of Gundam except 0083 Stardust Memory makes most everything seem fresh IMHO. That's probably the best advice then. Don't ever watch Gundam and you will be fine.
  21. Agreed, it is very tiring to go through the minutia that is Terminator. I basically wrote off the franchise when T3 came out. I personally only really treat Cameron's Terminator as canon. To me the story ends when Arnold is destroyed in T2. Any new movies should have just continued on in the same time line as T2. It wouldn't really have been that hard to do something like write in that there were backup archives kept off-site for all the Cyberdyne research. That is not a far fetched idea in the least since real companies do this every day. What's so disappointing is that it seems like the damn writers never even tried to come up with some plausible scenario. It was just "oh, this sounds cool, let's throw that in the mix."
  22. I would second that motion. I enjoyed it even if it was slow paced, but I expected as much given who the director is. As you say, if you've watched Ghost in the Shell 1 or 2, or Patlabor 2 for that matter, you know what to expect. Although I would say the the flying scenes were evenly spaced throughout whereas Patlabor 2 had very little action. The setting is an air base so you have interruptions throughout where they have to scramble, etc. The animation quality is top notch. I liked the feel of it with the WWII era nostalgia. It was almost as if technology only progressed a little bit after WWII. The aircraft is more advanced than any WWII aircraft, but there is no jet technology. The dogfight scenes were awesome and I thought the story was interesting. It's hard to recommend a buy for the DVD as it is really a matter of personal preference. I bought the DVD and I didn't regret it. But, you have some people that absolutely hated the first Ghost in the Shell, and I thought it was really good.
  23. That's sounds reasonable. I would agree that these helmets are going to come and go like the 1st release. It's not like they will have them in stock to order for a long time. I would even guess that they will probably sell out during the pre-order phase. They are just too expensive for me, however. Plus, the thought of having this huge helmet with no good place to put it is not very appealing to me. I'm a fan of the scaled replicas like the scaled Star Wars stuff. They are big enough to have nice detail yet small enough to display easily. And, some of them can be found on sale for cheap. Kudos to those of you that are getting them though.
  24. Just an FYI for those that don't get the Overdrive newsletter, the Yamato 1:1 helmets are up for order at this time. You have to e-mail them as it is not listed on the website. I believe that Max and Roy's is available right now.
  25. I would love to see Up in 3D, but my little girl got spooked by the last scene in Bolt. It's the scene where the man with 1 green eye points the shot directly at you. The 3D effect on that one scene turned her off. Now I can only take her to the non-3D versions. I'm still looking forward to it as I really enjoy Pixar features. My personal favorite is The Incredibles so far. I also thought Ratatouille was one of the best as well just not my personal #1.
