IIRC there was a Max Headroom movie. Now in 2009 it's still way before it's time. LOL!

I enjoyed it, and thought it was well made and funny. The whole "rules" thing reminds me of the book The Zombie Survival Guide. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Zombie_Survival_Guide I wonder if the book is what inspired the movie, or at least the zombie rules aspect of it. I have flipped through the book in the bookstore and have been meaning to pick up one of these days. Looks like a fun read. I have only recently gotten into zombie movies. Zombieland was the first one I actually went to the theater to see. Besides the classic Night of the Living Dead, the first modern zombie movie I ever saw was 28 Day Later when it went to the discount DVD section at Walmart. It made me interested in zombie movies, but it seems like 28 Days is an exception rather than the rule. Sounds like I need to rent Shawn of the Dead. Seems like it will be fun to watch.

The panel lining on those vehicles totally rock! I need to do that. It makes a huge difference. May I ask what kind of pens or markers you used. I'm not that much of a model builder customizer myself, but panel lining looks like something that would be too terribly difficult if you have the time to do it.

Question: How many people have seen vans painted up like the A-team van driving around their town? I've seen 2 different ones in my lifetime. Both looked cheesy as hell, but you gotta respect their dedication. I only wish I was able to take a picture at the time.

Lot's of good things coming out for Star Wars. The things I'm a watching out for are the TRU Tie Interceptor and the Target Tie Fighter. I think the Target Tie Fighter can be bought online as well. I managed to pick up Ep III pilot Obi-Wan with his headset. I didn't even realize he was being released again. FYI, Star Wars in Concert is in full swing, so keep a look out for a venue near you to see if they are coming to your city. These shows are sure to sell out, so buy your tickets as early as possible. I got my tickets, and I'm taking the family as well. http://www.starwarsinconcert.com/

Hell Yeah, I love the classic Twilight Zone. I always try to watch as much of the marathons as possible when they show them during the holidays. I really need to get the DVDs.

I thought it would be a good idea to try to create a single thread to discuss the Macross Frontier movie topics. Let's try to create a single thread where people can go to discuss Frontier movie news and topics. I debated whether to create a special Frontier movie music thread, but decided that it is too specialized and probably doesn't warrant a whole thread. I came across this pre-order listing for what I believe to be the movie soundtrack. http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?K..._campaign=ANIME I wonder if they will throw in any new songs along with our favorites from the series? I'm sure there will be some alternate versions of some of the current songs, and probably another medley song.

That's good to know. Part of me wants this to go on and on to be the ultimate Macross reference, and the other part hopes that it will be done at 50. For some reason I feel compelled to complete this series, and I will be relieved when I don't have to keep dishing out the money to keep up with it.

FYI, Ross has been getting AT-TEs and pricing them at $39.99. I have also seen some single carded figures such as the Sandtrooper with weathering along with some of the electronic toy blasters. I know the AT-TE is at Ross for sure because I bought one, but I would also check TJ Maxx and Marshall's as well for deals on Star Wars toys.

Family Mart Macross Frontier Movie Promo

I wanna see more of tha YF-24. -
I came across this listing for the Macross Orguss Design Works, but the cover they depict on this listing looks different from the regular one I have. I wasn't sure if this was an updated version or simply a re-printing with different cover art. Or, maybe the website simply has a screwed up image. Here's the actual listing in case someone wants to be kind enough to translate any Japanese text to shed some light. http://www.nippon-export.com/catalog/produ...oducts_id=11104

You tried to warn me, but did I listen? Noooo. Well you can tell me "I told you so" if you want. Yeah, I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was subbed rather than dubbed. It wasn't so much the voice actors as I think they did a decent and professional job on it. It was the dialogue itself. It just didn't seem like natural English to me. To me, it felt like they were trying to make sure the words were translated as literally as possible, and they did it at the expense of sounding natural in English. So, that's why I feel this is another one of those things where a sub would be superior to the dub. I think an 11 year old girl would like this movie as it has young love as the major plot element. There were a few scenes in particular where some girls in the audience went "awww". I didn't really care for the story. I have not seen the TV series, but from the special behind the scenes feature they showed I have come to find out the story is quite different than the TV series. At times there seemed glimmers of hope that it could be good, but overall I wasn't impressed. My favorite part of the whole experience was the end of the behind the scenes feature. Towards the end they showed outtakes of some of the dubbing. It was actually pretty funny and had everyone laughing. What was very interesting was some clips of the interview with the director. He even admits that he felt the fans of the series would not like this movie. His excuse was that he wanted to make a movie that casual moviegoers would be able to walk in and enjoy without having any background in the series. That being the case, I would be his target audience then, but I really didn't like it. The director's other excuse was that you don't get many chances to make a movie, so he wanted to do something different from the TV series. My only problem with that is what he did end up doing was not very appealing to me. Not that I thought it was all that terrible. It all felt mediocre to me. It just didn't hold my interest or "wow" me in any way.

What drag? This mode is only used in outer space.

I've seen the toys out at TRU now. They have a large sized figure with electronic lights and sounds, a 6" line some with a light gimmic, and a 3 3/4" line as well.
-
Just a friendly reminder that today's the day. I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of seats at this screening. These things don't seem to be very popular in my area at least.

So, from what I have gathered this publication will come out every 5 months? Vol 1 came out around January 25th, and Vol 2 came out around June 25th. Can I assume Vol 3 will be out on or around November 25th, and Vol 4 will be out around April 25th. I'm setting up my calender so that I will get e-mails to place an order about a month before each release.

You know the current figures almost seem 1:1 scale. Maybe they are slightly smaller, but probably it wouldn't have been hard to really make them true 1:1.
-
The figure is a nice display piece. It is an interesting figure because, as you mention, the arms are sort of like "bend-ems" with a wire in it so you can bend them around and pose. I was a little surprised by that. Be careful with the feet as they were stuck on mine. I was able to un-stick one foot, but the other foot snapped off with the ball stuck in the foot socket. I'm going to have to do some surgery by putting in a reinforcing pin and gluing it back. I would also like to see a more premium figure with more detail and a working light on the staff. Light up eyes on a 3 and 4 figure would be a nice touch. I hope they do the rest of the cast in whatever form.

I agree with most of the comments. I saw the trailer and had high hopes going into it. Visually it doesn't disappoint, but I agree with others that I wish they had spent more time on character development. I wanted to like the characters, but the don't give you much to latch on to and identify with. And, they really don't give you a lot of time to think about it either. I thought the pacing was a little off as it seemed like they used the absolute minimal amount of setup before jumping into the action. I thought the ending could have been better, although it wasn't exactly the Hollywood happy ending which I can appreciate. Even if things had ended up the same as when the movie started it still would have been a pretty depressing ending with really no hope for the future. I would recommend this for the hardcore animation or sci-fi fan, but for the rest it is probably a rental. An interesting movie that is worth a look if only for the visual style and action sequences. I started watching these reviews on youtube and I would agree with these guys assessment of the movie. Plus, they make me laugh at times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JgqjrlxItQ

BTW, the back of the 9 figures refer to the style as stitchpunk. I guess it is a variation on steampunk. Just thought you would like to know.

On the one hand, I also felt bad, but on the other, I didn't really. -
Does anyone know what this means? It is in regard to my Sheryl coming from Anime Export. I was following it as it was making it's way to me. I have not received it yet. The last status has me puzzled. Does "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment" mean that it is going to ship now from Japan? As in, all the activity so far was just paperwork stuff. I thought the "Inbound International Arrival" meant it was in the US and perhaps being held up in Customs. Here is the tracking history: Origin Post is Preparing Shipment Inbound International Arrival, September 04, 2009, 8:28 pm, ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS) Foreign International Dispatch, September 02, 2009, 10:59 am, TOKYO INT, JAPAN Foreign Arrival at Outward Office, September 02, 2009, 9:24 am, TOKYO INT, JAPAN Foreign Acceptance, September 01, 2009, 3:00 pm, JAPAN The only other detail regarding the current status is: We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece. I'm sort of scratching my head on this one because it's not EMS, but it's not regular SAL either. It seems to be SAL, but registered mail. I'd like to think that it's in New York and it's being processed to eventually come to me, but I'm not so sure because of the "origin post" stuff.

I found 9 figures at TRU. They had 1 and 9. I haven't even seen the movie yet, but I had to have the 9 figure.

I think this is grounds for being banned on Macross World. I'll have to go check. JK
