World of Warcraft OR Guild Wars etc...
DJ Loe Kee replied to kung flu's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
druids are tite. i've never played a warlock 'cause i see them as a cross between a mage and a hunter. i have also never played a priest but a shadow priest sounds cool. i have nothin' against warlocks, i just think that i have TOO MANY toons as it is (keep readin'). i have a n.e. hunter, a n.e. rogue, a n.e. druid, a n.e. warrior, a b.e. hunter, a b.e. rogue, a b.e. mage and a b.e. paladin on the private server. they are all 70's but it doesn't compare to retail (i can get to 70 in 1-3 days on the private server 'cause everything like gold, experience, drops, ect. is like 25x blizzard rates). my bad, my b.e. rogue is level 40 something and my b.e. hunter is level 16-19. but i haven't played them in 2-3 weeks so they should be 70... but i was spendin' too much time on the wow private server. just imagine, i was spendin' all this free time on the wow private server... so i would have been even worse if i was playin' retail wow. and as for addiction. i don't see that as a problem. it's just that some ppl choose to spend all of their time playin' wow. if they quit their jobs to play wow than i hope that they sell their epic toon for $500+ after awhile (a gm on the private server sold his retail level 70 warrior with t6 for $500... note, this is illegal in retail wow so don't go sellin' your toons, get caught, get banned and then blame me... i'm just sayin' what ppl do...). i blame blizzard for makin' the game TOO LONG. the private server used to be blizzlike (gold, experience, drops at retail levels) so i remember mobs droppin' copper and thinkin' "i'll never have enough gold to buy my n.e hunter a sword, i hate this dagger." i haven't played retail wow but i said on the private server forum that i was goin' to get a retail account so that i could level a toon to 70 before the new expansion pack "wrath of the lich king" comes out. but ppl who play retail wow AND the private server told me that the new expansion pack would come out before i hit level 70 (i didn't know it takes that long to level in retail wow). so i blame blizzard for the addiction, not the players. they are simply just tryin' to get to level 70. blizzard wants players to spend 1-2 years just to get to level 70 (i'm just throwin' out 1-2 years as an example since i really don't know how long it will take to get to level 70) so that they keep payin' those monthly fees to them. yea, i want to get a retail account but i'd rather buy a final fantasy game before i give blizzard my money (i won't bother to post the reasons why i hate wow 'cause i will still play the game. those reasons are more of a rpg issue that i think blizzard needs to improve. yes, i used to play rpg games on the 8bit sega system.) but then again. wow isn't cocaine or heroin or cigarettes so the addiction can be fixed. it's not like they quit playin' wow and they have "withdrawal". -

yea, no hacks/cheats, retail wow will ban you for that shiet. i play on a "private" (aka free) server 'cause i happen to mod my friend's music forum (he created a wow server after i became a mod) and that's how i got into wow. AND we ban ppl who hack and exploit xiet on his private server. usin' a hack means that a player suxs, learn to play instead. i haven't posted any links to the private server or to a a top 100 list of the top wow private servers 'cause private servers are "illegal" (but they are popular) and i'm pretty sure that the admins would object to my links (just like Dangaioh said about postin' hack/cheat mods). -

the only kanji that i remember is the kanji for the word japan, nihon or nippon (nippon is the formal word). http://www.chofu-j.ed.jp/vc_nihon.htm if i remember correctly, the square sorta means house and the cross sorta means tree (but don't take my word for it). or was it that they look like a house or tree??? anyways, that is how you write out nihon/nippon/japan in kanji. -

you shouldn't be scared of kanji, it's basiclly a shortcut for writin' hiragana. it goes like this, a word might have 2-20 (give or take a couple of letters) syllables to spell it and each syllable in japanese gets each own letter. so it would get tirin to write out all 10-20 letters just for one word. so instead, they borrow chinese letters and they write out the word usin' 1-??? kanji/chinese letters. to make it easier, imagine japanese style in english language. instead of writin' out "apple pie" in english, we would "invent" new letters for it. "#" could mean "apple" and "*" could mean "pie". so as a shortcut we could use two letters "#*" to spell out "apple pie" instead of spellin' it out usin' all "8 letters". sorry, but my college didn't offer part 2 of japanese in the next semester (i had to wait a year just for part 2) so i didn't continue in japanese. so i don't know very little kanji or katakana. somebody else could probably explain it easier. -

yes, i took it in college. japanese and chinese are two of the hardest languages to learn... and spanish and english are two of the easiest. how about this, we had daily (3 days a week class) quizzes for the first two weeks of class and i FAILED all of them except for the final quiz. the quiz was a basic hiragana quiz. we would learn about 5 hiragana each day and the followin' class we would have a quiz over it. but the quiz was an oral quiz, she would say a 2 or 3 syllable word and we would have to write down (in hiragana) what she said. she only said it twice and it was hard to understand her accent. O yea, i sux at oral quizzes but i can ace written tests and readin'/translatin' tests (this includes my spanish and french courses i took). i switched to a different asain language to learn 'cause their alphabet has less than 40 letters to learn (i'm on my own tho', no class available for me). i would have to learn 1000-2000 kanji just to be able to read a japanese newspaper (give or take a couple hundred. -

let me know if it is good. i haven't seen it since the 80's and i can't remember anything from it. the only thing that i remembered from macross in the 80's was ben's (i remember that ben said that he was goin' to come back and finish his steak but he never made it back) and roy's death (cartoon network refreshed my memory in the late 90's). -
i don't read manga so i don't know what happens. the anime didn't go downhill for me after L died, they just left me disappointed after i watch episode 37. i really didn't like N so i wanted light to win. . i guess that i'm the only person who liked misa misa. she was cool. she didn't get on my nerves like sakura's weak ass "watchin'" naturo & sasuke do all the fightin' or rukia tellin' ichigo to "let her die and go back home". thankfully, sakura and rukia are finally strong and not weak.

lol, anybody can sign that, even ppl who don't plan on buyin' a hd-dvd player until the format war is over. you should have voted with your money instead. warner won't be switchin' even if 2 billion ppl sign that petition. me, i want blu ray just for capacity. it would take 10 double layer blu ray discs to back up my pc (500gb hard drive). who cares who wins, ppl say that hd-dvd and blu ray looks the same, but blu ray owns it when it comes to storage. -
no, the anime doesn't show the last 1 or 2 chapters of the manga (where it shows those who survived talkin' and whatever, i haven't read it).

normally, i only dl the fansubs that i trust with gettin' the translation right the first time. except for death note 'cause every fansub group kept gettin' cease and desist letters from viz so i have 3-4 different groups that subbed that series. i usually start with one fansub group and stick with them. an example of "translation differences" is lunar callin' a rank lieutenant and dattebayo callin' the exact same rank vice captain in bleach. who to say who is right, a translation can have 2 definitions like the word hana meaning FLOWER and NOSE. plus, it is a FREE fansub and i've seen pro translation on retail cds that did a worse job than the free fansub (like a macross plus sentence that wasn't even translated by managa and it is a dvd-rip, not a fansub (it has english/japanese audio plus subs, it was translated in the movie but not the ova). normally i wouldn't have even dl'ed the seiyan fansubs 'cause i have never heard of them. i started with black order subs for d.gray-man so refuse to watch shinsen subs of the same show (plus black order subs calls a rank "marshall" i think and shinsen subs used a different term for it so i immediately want back to black order for consistency). so, i only know shinsen subs from macross f and i don't feel like goin' through my collection of unwatched collection of anime to see if i have any shinsen subs in them (plus i changed the file names and remove the tags from fansubs to keep anime in numerical order 'cause my db subs for naruto would go from [db]naruto 01[12445] to [dattebayo]naruto 02[24545] and i removed everything with a [] from the file name. they better have tagged their name in the video or i won't know who subbed them). hey, but comparin' seiyan to shinsen subs i would watch a shinsen sub version of a show that isn't d.gray-man. and in MY opinion the best translators are native japanese but not every fansub group has one on their team. i can even spot when they do sometimes 'cause some sentences are "bad english" that didn't get spotted and fixed quality control. this is true. i asked my friend how to cuss in japanese. i asked how to say fc*k, xiet and shiet like that in japanese and she told me that they didn't have a translation for it in japanese (and this is a reason why i hate it when fansubs translate words as cuss words when they are only sayin' "stupid/idiot/bastard" or some other word like that). -
lol, i have the uk dvd of ringu, ringu 2 (this suxs don't watch it, raesen suxs too i hear) and ring 0 birthday (not as good as ringu but it's still a pretty good movie). i bought the u.s. sub version of ringu 'cause my uk dvd has bad subs where i can't read them if their is alot of white in the picture. back on topic. movie wise, i thought death note was a good movie. i've seen terrible japanese movies (ringu 2) so, no, i don't think any movie with subs is good (this is more aimed at the troll who tried to troll me in another thread).

since i can't translate japanese i can only compare shinsen subs to seiyan subs... and there were sentences said in seiyan that didn't make since but after watchin' shinsen subs i said "their sentence makes more sense". i could ask my friend to watch both versions since her native language is japanese, but i don't feel like botherin' her with translatin' work (especially free, not paid) when i really don't need it. i'd rather bother her once in a blue moon when i want to order something off of a japanese website and i really need help translatin' it. i haven't watched macross f since last year (only watch seiyan twice and shinsen subs once) 'cause i still have about 200gbs of anime that i haven't watched yet (it's just sittin' on dvd-r somewhere) and i don't look for errors. i just want the the story to flow nicely with no OBVIOUS errors that a "i took only one semester of japanese" person like me can find. -
you have to go in as an officer and "avoid" the enlisted ranks/fighters/soldiers/pilots (ok, so the pilots are usually officers too). me, i would avoid the military, can i just go in a producer/deejay for minmay, sheryl, mylene??? heck, even basara (we might piss each other off tho' basara: i don't like this beat you made, change that instrument you have there to a... me: this is MY BABY, i'm not changin' any instruments)

i would agree (i haven't seen SA subs tho'). and i know that alot of things are hard to translate and lose meanin' when you try to translate them so i really don't expect the subs to be 100% perfect. but i expect them to be better than all of the errors that seiyan subs made. -
everybody say that light wasn't himself in the movie. i had heard from others that they turned light into a "wimp/wuss". he didn't seem weak to me but they could have portrayed him better. for me i liked seein' ryuk as live action/cgi and an actor who looked just like L (even if it was crunchyroll's low quality vid). but the live action movie doesn't compare to the anime, i won't even start on the stuff that they changed. so maybe i should say it was an ok movie for any death note fan to watch. it's not the best but it doesn't sux either. at least when compared to other things i've liked like tomb raider and x-men and seen them "changed and altered" for a movie version (mostly x-men, at least spider-man sorta stayed closer to its roots, at first).

death note the movie is GOOD. i like the anime version better, except for the episodes where they had cheap L clones, N & M. i don't think anybody liked the endin' of death note (anime, manga, movie). i was goin' to read the manga 'cause i hated the anime's endin' but ppl said the manga's endin' isn't any better. so for me, the movie is good and the anime is good until ep. 14 or 15. so to me the series ends with ep. 25 with first 12-14 episodes bein' the best episodes (the series get good once again once light gets his death note powers back, not that it suxed but it just wasn't the same series with light powerless). i rank death note up there with sdf macross for me (pretendin' that N & M never existed)... sorry naruto, sorry bleach.

some people will enjoy it more dubbed but i really think that most people are lazy. no, i'm not insultin' them by callin' them lazy but that is the best word for it. example, me and my friends went to see crouching tiger hidden tiger in the theaters and we didn't know that it was subbed. i was the only one to read the subs for the entire movie (everybody else said that they gave up after 5 minutes). o, and that was my first time watchin' a subbed movie. so i went home and watched my anime with subs on (i have the dubs MEMORIZED, i've seen it that many times). man, was i surprised when i found out that it was NOT the same movie ('cause they rewrote alot of lines except for akira). so i see nothin' wrong with dubs unless they change the plot/script/lines spoken. but the only way i would know that would be to watch both versions. forget that, i'll just watch the original. my opinions of dubs is the same for american shows dubbed in foreign languages. my friend said when he was in japan he saw the fresh prince dubbed in japanese. it's really not the same show. that's like saying that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kung_Pow:_Enter_the_Fist and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_and_Crane_Fist is the same movie. ok, so that isn't the best example. but if you like the dubs, then i see nothin' wrong with other ppl watchin' dubs. just don't watch the subs EVER and you MAY NOT notice the weak voice actin' (i didn't notice the weak voice actin' of akira, ghost in the shell and ninja scroll until i watched the sub version. i've seen the dub version so much that i have the dialogue memorized and i notice the tiniest change in the script when i watch the subs). it just common practice for some (no, i didn't say ALL) to convert those who watch the dub version. i'll even go to japan and try to convert them into watchin' the sub version of the fresh prince, comedy is still funny when read. the tv show full house had my LAUGHIN' just from readin' the subs (i like the comedy, the romance part bored me).

i still stand by all of my words. forums, oOo, i mod a forum, shoupz.com. but you think i have no experience with on forums. as for the rest of it of your post. i still think that it is nothin' but a troll to start on argument. as for my recommendations. don't blame me for what others buy. i am only responsible for what i buy. and for the record, if i was displeased with something, then I WILL SAY SOMETHING about it. and if i am pleased with something, then I WILL SAY SOMETHING about it. some ppl think that this is still the 1950's and that i should keep my mouth shut. you won't change my mind so respect my opinion. if i am not pleased with a dub then nothin' you can say will make me go play the dub and enjoy it all of the sudden. as for foreign tv shows, i simply mentioned the show, full house. i didn't even mention if i liked the show or not (for the record, it is a soap opera and it's too romantic for me to watch a 2nd time). but i did find the face actin' in the series to be superb. all that i will say is that i watched all 16 episodes. but i also watched all of the bleach and naruto filler only to say at the end that "this filler suxs". this is on topic... as for the adv box sets, i avoid anything with a "dub". if my shows are "subbed only" then my friends will watch the subs with no complaints. if it is "dubbed and subbed", then an argument will arise over which version to watch (some ppl will argue that the american dub is BETTER than the original). i can only recommend what I WOULD CHOOSE. it is advice and i am not forcin' somebody to listen to my advice. thanks for those links. now i'll have to bother a friend to translate them for me (i probably don't need help but it's an excuse to send a email).

Just saw Macross Zero for the first time.
DJ Loe Kee replied to mriboy's topic in Movies and TV Series
ninja ressurrection is not a sequel to ninja scroll. the company that released ninja scroll in the u.s. decided to "label" it as the sequel to ninja scroll just to get sales. jubei in ninja scroll is BASED on the real life jubei yagyu. but the jubei in ninja resurrection is jubei yagyu himself in the flesh. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yagy%C5%AB_J%...Bbei_Mitsuyoshi i didn't like resurrection either. -
Just saw Macross Zero for the first time.
DJ Loe Kee replied to mriboy's topic in Movies and TV Series
i'm goin' to guess that he liked the story. and this is why... my only complaints with the macross sequels is that the stories are not "macross" to me (i saw sdf macross first despite ppl suggestions to watch mzero first. i don't count watchin' rt:macross as havin' seen sdf macross). but in terms of anime, they are still good stories (even m7 has it's good episodes every now and then). so, i'll find out soon if my guess is right or not. and for the record, the endin' didn't seem rushed to me, it just didn't "feel" like macross (plus the fact that roy looked different). but in terms of anime, it wasn't an anime that i watched and said, this suxs (like ninja scroll the tv series) and proceeded to NOT save it to dvd-r (and i was plannin' on buyin' the ninja scroll tv series retail dvd set). -
bootlegs?!? then i wouldn't have suggested them to him. and i have ALL of the macross series. yes, i watched ALL of macross 7. and i only gave an example of the dvds that i own. i have seen naruto, bleach and death note in japanese AND english and the english actors have NO EMOTION in their voice. hey, i am a artist and ACTING IS AN ART. so i hate those who are terrible at their artform. this includes those who do the english voice actin' for anime. ask me about any hollywood movie or tv show and i can tell you about BAD ACTORS. even oscar winnin' movies have bad supportin' actors in them, even if the bad actor only said ONE LINE IN THE ENTIRe MOVIE. what is the director's problem??? they probably do 1000 takes for one scene and he should have brought in a TRAINER for terrible actors or make them do it until they get it right. i have seen the korean tv show FULL HOUSE and that is VERY GOOD ACTING!!!!!!! they even get their facial expressions down right. i have not seen any american actor use the faces that they used (outside of comedians makin' faces). you knew the persons emotions just by their face. as for ninja scroll widescreen. it does have a better audio than my original non-widescreen movie, i just didn't bother to read the reviews on amazon about the picture ('cause i hadn't even bother to watch it ONE TIME until i read the reviews about the picture bein' cut off. it just sat on my tv for 2-3 months and i finally played the movie to see if they were right or not). simply put, i AM A BIG NINJA SCROLL FAN and i wanted the movie anyways. if i wanted to be cheap, i could have dl'ed the movie FOR FREE!!! at the same time, if companies expect me to BUY MOVIES and NOT DL FOR THEM AT THE SAME QUALITY FOR FREE, then they need to EARN MY MONEY. that is simply from one artist (me when creatin' a cd FOR SALE TO THE PUBLIC) to another artist (an anime studio creatin' a dvd FOR SALE TO THE PUBLIC). get it right or go out of business, ya heard me. and if the anime cartoon is bootlegs, than all you have to say is that they ARE BOOTLEGS. they is NO NEED TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS PROMOTIN' PEOPLE TO GO OUT AS BUY BOOTLEGS AS I SAID i was simply pointin' out what I WOULD BUY, NOT GO OUT AND BUY BOOTLEGS. i already have the entire macross collection (minus macross ii) on dvd (either fansub or dvd-rip) and i am SIMPLE BUYIN' THEM 'CAUSE I LIKE MACROSS THAT MUCH. oOo, but you didn't know that. why would i go out and buy bootlegs OVER the REAL RETAIL DVD when i already have them on DVD-R?!? i'm still scratchin' my head. did i say that, go buy bootlegs?!? NO. normal people say, "hey, those are bootlegs", "that is not a good choice that you have in mind" or "that company is on the black list" like they did in this thread. http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=24624 there is not need to be a TROLL and make it seem like i go around tellin' everybody to buy bootlegs when i simply went googlin' for import dvds to buy instead of buyin' that fc*kin pitiful job that harmony gold calls a series. so you know that they are bootlegs, so i guess that you either bought the dvds before from them or that you have proof that they are bootlegs. or you most have a link to where somebody can buy the REAL import dvds from. region doesn't matter, my dvd player is region free. and NO it isn't my dvd player. i have a region free dvd player, a dvd player, a ps2 and my pc's dvd burner. i can tell you right now, HARDWARE will not make a subtitles border disappear. i have the video authorin' software and my friend uses the video authorin' hardware. that comment is a weak attempt at a troll.
