Transformers Super Thread 5
VF-2SS-BloodPhoenix replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
As far as Nemesis Prime/BT Black Convoy is concerned, I'm more partial to the BT. I don't really like the red windows on Nemesis Prime, but I especially don't like the price gouging on BT Black Convoy. I don't have either though and I'm not particularly desperate given my preferences on the matter. There's plenty of photos of MP-5, and at the Invincible Robot Laboratory, Yone-san has a photo of the broken tab to watch out for. I haven't come across a good review of the toy yet, but the photos should speak for themselves. -

I'm in MN and I haven't found one yet. I do see those early stock notices, but I don't have the time to go wait for hours before the stores open. I beat the first TMNT on the NES back in the day. Borrowed it from a friend, heck, I borrowed a few of his games and beat them, while he couldn't . I can still beat it today if I put some time into it. It's alot easier now that I'm older . -

HAHA! Who needs CGI TFs, those are fun as heck . -
Some 17 years ago, I had rented The Robotech Saga along with Guyver, Macross II, and this (Dangaio). I like everything about Dangaio. Of course I only saw the U.S. Renditions versions, and I only have part 3 of the VHS tapes. I haven't been able to find the first two parts anywhere. I was thinking about buying the Manga versions, but after hearing everyone's reaction to those, I think I'll avoid them. I would like to make a live action version of this awesome series, I have a vision for things like this . Does anyone know if any of the songs in all three of the old U.S. Renditions versions are available anywhere? I like the two rock songs that were in part 3. BTW, are the Japanese DVDs still availalbe anywhere? Online? I haven't looked.

Or that guy is kinda small . Awesome pics, great posing! Sometimes Hasbro makes no sense. Deadend should have never been a straight up Sunstreaker in disguise, and TWO Ravages in the same line? I'm looking for a replacement head for the first Ravage, and a different head for Dead End. I don't mind Decepticon Alts/BTs as long as they are reminiscent of their original forms, of which Ravage, Rumble, Shockwave, were not cars. I agree, Skywarp is really quite incredible, and for $20 a set, you can't go wrong! I don't have Ramjet though, will buy it when I see one. -

MP-5 is still worth buying, even if they will eventually release a more complete version down the road. This MP-5 will stay in robot mode since the only thing exclusive to the robot mode is the arm canon. There's also plenty of sources out there for everyone who wants to purchase an unmodified MP-5. I've got mines pre-ordered and unmodified. I live in the U.S. and I also have two of the Megatron re-issues. I didn't have any problems getting them without them being tampered with. -
IMHO, the Toynami Voltron is really nothing special. The old Voltron Lions with tons of accessories for each individual Lion is much better than the lazy Toynami Lion Voltron which doesn't offer anything new in terms of mold design, aesthetics, or use of today's new tech to create the old Lions. The posability is very limited, due to the weight. I'm not expecting it to do backflips, but it's not that easy to pose the Toynami Voltron. Sure, you could argue that the Lions are somewhat truthful to their anime counterparts, but when compared to something like the 20th Anni. Prime, this Toynami masterpiece is a letdown.

Yeah, the silencer and shoulder stock are invariably iconic pieces to the alt mode. Takara probably rushed to get the product out, so they opted for the tiny gimmicks (Kremzeek, gun that killed OP) and will surely release another 'complete' version of Megatron in 1-1 1/2 years down the line. -

The new movie TFs are being designed by the same people who worked on the new Star Wars movies, ILM. -
I've never seen the B/W comic, just the graphic novel which used the red masks. I'm sure that they used the colors for the mainstream version so that the general public can more easily identify which turtle was who by what color bandana they wore. As far as the space monsters are concerned, I like the idea. They look more powerful than the turtles. Either that, or I don't know how strong the turtles actually are.
-
The new trailer looks fantastic! I like the CGI and everything. Looking forward to it! I am a fan, from the 80s cartoon and I had a chance to check out the graphic novels and almost everything that was out for that franchise. As much as I liked the cartoon, one look at the comics and that was more interesting to me. All 4 turtles had red bandanas, but their belts were slightly different from each other. That looked more badass to me than the fruity colors used in the cartoon. I'm not condemning the live action movie for the colored bandanas as I really liked the first movie alot.

I just hope Yamato has plans on finishing the 1/48 VF-1 line with the 0D, Elint, and Ostrich. I'm waiting on those babies to be born.

It's what areaseven mentioned and I think it's more in line with that than sentai stuff. Speaking of tokusatsu, is there anything out there that's as good as Garo? I watched the an episode of Kamen Rider Hibiki and that had way too much drama, very little action, wacky action at that (not to my liking), and the latest Sentai, Boukenger, doesn't really interest me that much. Sorry to derail the topic of interest here. Oh, first time I noticed this, but the subtitles (text, presentation, translation) in fansubs blow away the subtitles in mass released stuff. Go fansubs!

Heh, now I know where your AV comes from wolfx . I just finished watching the U.S. Manga Ent. DVD and I thought it was okay. I'd like my shows to be a bit more coherent, but this show has a lot of scenes plopped into it that it feels like a scrambled puzzle. So yeah, sure some people will have to watch it a couple times to peice everything together. I've only watched it once, but there are a TON of unaswered questions from what I just saw. That will probably not suit most people. Not enough meat to keep some interested. To top that off, they throw in the two different worlds angle to kick it up a notch . The action sequences are not very visible, and are all mostly dark making it difficult to tell what's happening. I really like the Karas' ability to change into different forms. That is a very slick idea, being my first time seeing anything like it before. I think that although the idea is good, the execution is more complicated than it has to be and the direction pacing isn't to my liking.

Those spikes are actually buildings, towers, etc. Pretty nice looking among the other many details molded into this toy. -

, looks kinda funny seeing a robot in that pose . About the back pack thing, since I have 6 Vectors, I could probably build 3 Aquarions if I don't add the back pack . I'm sure the connector's are the same on both versions, so that should work, though I haven't seen anyone try it yet. -

VF-2SS-BloodPhoenix replied to Retracting Head Ter Ter's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
uhh... BUY IT! And tell me if it's good enough to buy myself! I mean.. don't buy it! Well one reason I can think of not to is its head still looks ridiculous. it looks like a bucket with a plate on top. 382813 The main reason I bought these two Aquarion toys was because they're flashy, stylistic, sleek anime mecha. They look agile and I just plain like the cool design. I still haven't had time to thoroughly inspect the toy, but my conclusion is that this is more of a display piece and not so much a toy due to the weak joints in humanoid form, but this is caused by the back pack which is made up of one of the three Vectors. The back pack attachment is optional, and without it, the robot can stand and pose, so that is the only drawback. The cool thing with this Chogokin is that it's like a complex puzzle. It's got lots of moving bits and pieces that opens up for various modes of transformation (see my unofficial robot mode pic). When I picked this thing up, there's just so much you can do with it, that that might turn off those who don't like to mess with something for a long time. That's something I don't have time for, but it's always a worthy play value to fiddle around with a complex toy and be amazed by it's many intricacies. That might be worth the money to some people. The bucket head as you put is actually more detailed than you think. I took some photos to show you the head is not as one dimensional as you thought. Side view of head Top view of head Rear view of head It's pretty detailed, more so than a 1/48 Yamato Valk's head . The other two heads are just as nicely done, although I'm not going to bother transforming it into everything as it's too much work . I think it's worth the money due to the complexity and vast number of parts put into this thing. Hey, it's packed in styrofoam, has metal parts, and looks great (to me anyway). That's all I have to say since I'm not good at reviewing stuff I've very little knowledge of so I'll leave you off with another large photo for size comparison: The Line Up! The big guy in the back is Primus, and that is a 1/48 Yamato Valk standing next to the Aquarion. You can get an idea of how big the Aquarion is compared to the 1/48 . If you want to see some more images, you can visit my page HERE. I don't have a lot of photos, but that's a bit time consuming to do for the moment. -

Just got my Aquarion Attack Type today. I didn't get much time to evaluate the toy entirely due to work and many other things that take up my time. So I didn't get any time to do a review. For now, here is a photo I took of it along with the original Aquarion: CLICK HERE As far as the joints are concerned, they're no different from the original Aquarion. -
Ah note the super hero pose and how the background has changed to suit what the mech is doing? Looks like it is powering up to do a "G gundam" type power move. 379776 that's funny. Why not use the final animation image? It looks like the Low Vis ver. 2 Valk and GBP are going to be limited editions, so, don't everyone rush out and buy 'em .

VF-2SS-BloodPhoenix replied to Retracting Head Ter Ter's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I just paid my HLJ payment request for one, so hopefully in about 4-6 days, they'll ship it to me . They're sure getting very slow these days to process orders. I'm using EMS to get this baby though, so even if they're slow, it won't be too painful of a wait time. As for the joints, well, all they needed to do was make the joints tighter/stronger like add more friction. The original Aquarion (which I also have) had floppy loose joints everywhere, duh, no wonder that thing can't stand on it's own . The colors on the original Aquarion wasn't that bad, at least it isn't Hasbro coloriffic bad . Damn, the new Attack Type Aquarion looks kick ass, I can't wait to get mines! -
I Want To See New Vf-2ss Models And Toys Be Made
VF-2SS-BloodPhoenix replied to Phalanx's topic in Toys
Whether Macross II was popular or not is something that shouldn't matter, cause the Valks were bad ass. I also happen to like Macross II so . If Kawamori doesn't care for those Valks, then hell, why should he care if those Valks get made in toy form? The Macross II Valks, more specifically the VF-2S and the VF-2J are effin hot, IMO. How would anyone not know how popular those Macross II Valks are if they don't even know that there's quite a lot of people who want them, me being one of them. Oh wait, how popular were the Bandai 1/100 VF-2S? Weren't those sold out on a continuous basis? Even if the production run was low, they always sold very well, and they were just models. Anything else I'm not getting? -

I'm a big fan of the new Valks in Mac2. I don't care much for Mac purists either . I would be in heaven if there was a toyline in say 1/48 scale of the VF-2S SAP with drones, or a VF-2J, or the Metal Siren, but damn it, I would buy a full squadron of the VF-2S alone!!!
