Again? I have few 1/60 VFs with me and they transform just fine, and I followed the instruction to the letter! Only on my VF-1J Hikaru and the VF-1D I encounter this problem...don't just write this off just because you do not encounter it. I agree when you say not to panic, but that does not mean we have to ignore the problem! I lucked out when my VF-1J 'POPPED!' without anything flying off, but after reading the mishaps with other members VFs, I decided prudent is the best course and managed to transform my VF-1D without breaking anything....AND THE TAB IS DEFORMED! And yes, for some, force was used to pull out the intake, and why is that, ya think?

hmmm..dunno whether this should be posted here, but I purchased a 1/48 VF-1J Miria type in the past and I noticed the right intake cover was missing, though I wrote it off as QC failure and just let it be....UNTIL, my friend bought a unit of 1/48 VF-1J Max type last week, and discovered the heatshield is missing! Tsk! -

well how's this for tops...a friend in a local private broadcasting station own almost ALL VFs produced....but NEVER knew what they are and what anime they are from.... But I'm getting offtopic here... and GU-11, yes, that's the general idea coz I do not think it happens to vf-1d exclusively... -
Erm...definitely a must-have! Count me in for this badass upgrade! ( if I can afford it..hhehehe )

I think you're right on that. And I am thinking of filing the tabs a little bit, just to reduce the tightness and tension, but not too much that it'll be loose in the socket. About the yellowing canopy, I don't think it's because of age, I think it's designed that way. Because when I compared the canopy of my Max's 1A, Roy's Lo-Vi and Hikaru's 1J, they all have varying degree of 'discoloration'...so it might be intended that way. On another note, if like Choronocidal said, there's a mold degradation (my VF-1J experinced same problem), I strongly advise that we all be prudent on future VF-1 releases...meaning be careful when popping off the legs of the valks. -

Hi guys, I received my VF-1D today...and the leg is tight like my VF-1J and what other members reported. However, no cause for alarm. After squeezing the legs with slight pressure, I noticed the intake would not separate from the die-cast part BY THE TOP stub, and not by the SIDE PEGS.... So what I did was I inserted the sharp end of a stapler remover between the small openings of the intake and the die-cast part, apply light pressure by pushing the tips of the stapler remover against the die-cast part, while simultaneously squeezing the legs ( the valkrie's...not mine )gently...and voila!!! Nothing broken I'm happy to report. Though I noticed the stubs are quite 'disfigured'(for lack of better term), so I suspected either the factory workers forcefully pushed in the legs or maybe it's just a mold degradation... Just my 2 cents... -
Well, great job HLJ! My order was sent on 26th, and on the 29th is already on the way to my office!! In case anyone wondering, it's an VF-1D, and hopefully I can avoid the exploding leg syndrome....
-
Stickler! jk bro... btw, took a gamble and ordered myself a VF-1D! Just got confirmation from HLJ. Sorry, despite all its flaws you guys mentioned...its still VF-1D!!

Hi MF, seems ur problem with the VF-1D is same with what I was facing last nite. I just opened my 1/60 Hikaru's Super VF-1J, and after I attached the leg armor in jet mode, and after installing the leg armor I found it was really hard to unpeg the leg from the main body. After carefull jigling, I managed to bring both leg down for battroid mode. Then I want to transform it to battroid mode, and that's where I'm almost frustrated by how tight the intake peg is! Afraid to break anything, I try to loosen it much like how u loosen your tooth from its socket, left n right, and suddenly with an audible CLACK! , I succeeded...phew! So I agree with ur assumption, might be the peg was too tight fitting... -

Thanks for the heads up, Chindenathus....my, I'm glad I PO'ed, hopefully Bandai gonna score with this one! Judging from the pics, the unsightly gaps for the shuttle mode have been more or less taken care off...and can I be optimistic and say, it looks like a generous amount of die-cast parts are going to be used?
