  1. is spelled "incapable" :passes out chill pills: arguements are better left for PM or some other place than in a public forum with that said... I've been meaning to look into Gundam to see if I would like it, I have caught SD Gundam on Cartoon Network (IMO its a joke, anything has to be better than that). I'll have to see if I can find any of the forementioned Gundam versions/releases. For US releases, you can find the following available on DVD from Bandai (in production order, not release order): - Mobile Suit Gundam TV series English dub only, no original sountrack with sub and one of the episodes that was voted by fans to be one of their favorite episodes (see March issue of Gundam Ace) was completely removed. You should avoid this and wait for a complete version with sub is released, or get - Mobile Suit Gundam movies trilogy Box set of 3 DVDs with sub and a remixed soundtrack. Basically a condensed version of the TV series with some changes, a good introduction to Gundam if you are curious as to how the whole thing started. - Char's Counterattack This theatrical feature concludes the Amuro vs. Char rivalry started in the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. Not a good movie to watch if you have not seen Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta Gundam (due out later this year on DVD in the US) already - Mobile Fighter G Gundam A wacky take on the Gundam theme by turning them into machines of tournament fighting... or the other way around? Hated by purists, this series is more meant for fans of the Dragon Ball and Super Robot genres. This is the series that started the whole "mass Gundam" syndrome plaguing most recent Gundam shows. Whereas before Gundams was the top-of-the-line, feared weapon every ace dream of destroying, now even a janitor gets their custom Gundam thanks to the trend set by this show. - Gundam Wing Power Rangers meets Pretty Boy Band meets Gundam, with a plot that twists for its own sake. Very popular with the girls and the non-straight community. This was the first Gundam show put on American TV and caused the whole Wing vs. UC controversy, as new fans expected every other show to be like Wing (which might explain why when Mobile Suit Gundam was shown on TV it received poor ratings) while the oldtime fans bitched how this show ruined Gundam fandom in the US. - Endless Waltz A 3-episode OVA (the movie version is also included on the same DVD) that takes place a year after the events depicted in Gundam Wing. Not recommended unless you've seen the entire run of Gundam Wing, otherwise the paper thin plot won't make any sense. Slick mecha designs and animation quality, everything else sucked. - G-Saviour A live action made-for-TV movie with poor CG elements, a weak cast, and a tired plot device (evil government has solution for world hunger but keeps it secret to maintain the status quo, hero finds out and saves the world. Yawn). Stay away for the sake of your own good. This is the least liked Gundam show (if it even is one) of them all. Even with SD Gundam, I am still inclined to watch that than G-Saviour. At least SD Gundam doesn't pretend the show is better than its audience.
  2. As much as I'd like to blame it on Pokemon, Miramax should run for the hills before people start pointing fingers at Kill Bill.
  3. How can it be skimpy if it's free? You get plenty considering what you paid ($0.00). I expected more out of those catalogs published by Dengeki. With every new edition they add some new stuff in yet take other stuff out.
  4. Are they just using MGS2 engine or has there been other improvements / additional features? The graphics shown in the advance footage shown on Xplay made it look like the character models' detail level somewhere between MGS for PS1 and MGS2 for PS2.
  5. Any of you remember the Banzai programming block they used to have on USA? It's coming back on Comedy Central next Thursday at 10:30PM. BANZAI! Edit in: Oops... typo... rejoice, not rejoin!
  6. I hate it when the cheapskates bring in their own food that's wrapped in noisy plastic or paper bags. I rarely bring outside food to theaters, but I do remember bringing KFC to Chicken Run because we skipped a meal to catch the flick. Sweet irony.
  7. FYI Konami is kind of wishy-washy with Xbox support on their Silent Hill games. SH2 got an Xbox release with bonus features (which was ported back to the PS2 as a Greatest Hits release) but SH3 was a no-show on the Xbox even though they did port it to the PC like SH2 was. With a PS2 you have backwards compatibility so you have access to the PS1 games, including the original Silent Hill and the Resident Evil series. On the other hand, Xbox has a lot of homebrew stuff, including emulators for old consoles if that's your thing. You might also want to consider the fact that the Xbox controller is not terribly ergonomic. Go check out a store demo and get a feel for it.
  8. I'd hate to think what the Alien Queen's acidic bodily fluid could do to the macho Predator's wee wee.
  9. Wouldn't it be cool if a bootleg Q-Ral comes with a nude Millia? "Hey, this bootleg is more authentic than the real thing!"
  10. The answer is not whether they can or cannot, but whether it is practical for the dealers to do so. Any dealer foolish enough to take HG to court to force the issue resolved better have a war chest that matches the size of HG's. HG will bury whoever dares to take them to court with their own lawyers, unless you can afford more and better lawyers than HG.
  11. While the bootlegs are of crappy quality, they do deter people from paying their 10 bucks when they find out what a turkey a heavily marketed film actually is. Most films make their money on opening weekend, before word of mouth can hurt its business significantly. I am pretty sure those who saw pirated versions of, say, Dumb and Dumberer won't bother going to the theater or buying it on DVD after they find out how lousy it turned out to be.
  12. Right... Katoki reached design nirvana when he got the brilliant idea of making a Sailor Moon Gundam. Mine, how original.
  13. Yeah, from what I heard it's a port of Tenchu 3 (Wrath of Heaven) for PS2 with some extra features.

    Q-Rau price

Personally I am having a hard time with its price considering it doesn't transform and you can get almost a half dozen super poseable Spiderman toys for the same price...
  15. IMHO, Hunt for Red October was Connery's film. Ford was a strong supporting cast member as Jack. Think about the film, it really was focused on Captain Marko Ramius's story. It is my favorite Tom Clancy book-to-film adaption, but the definitive "Jack Ryan" film for me is Patriot Games. It's all him! Did Paramount go back and digitally replaced Alec Baldwin's Jack Ryan with Harrison Ford in Hunt for Red October?
  16. You should be able to find an Apple II emulator and a ROM dump of Karateka online easily. Grab Drol while you're at it. Fun little game.
  17. Yeap, the two co-produced a string of hits in the 80s and 90s, until Don Simpson's untimely demise shortly before the release of The Rock. Don Simpson's really good at picking the right materials and getting the right people together. Bruckheimer's better at overseeing the daily operation side of the production while the two worked as a team. With Simpson gone, it's kind of like today's Disney - you have a slick hit factory but not much in terms of creativity or fresh ideas.
  18. I've seen Tallgeese III with the current wave of reissues, although they seem to be very short-packed, probably 1 per case. The Char's Gelgoog figure is better than it looks, although the beam bazooka was ridiculously heavy the arm is unable to hold it at a fixed pose. They should have hollowed out the beam bazooka. The beam blades' sculpts were plain fugly. It does come with a MS-14B high mobility backpack, so you can always repaint it to a Johnny Ridden custom.
  19. Full story here I'd rather see a Karateka movie before Prince of Persia...
  20. Picked up Char's Gelgoog today and saw a W0C on the shelf in the new style red box. Doesn't look like a good fit...
  21. Anyone picked up the new PS2 game from Konami that's supposed to be voice-activated? If so, post your reviews/thoughts please. Edit in: some eye candy
