  1. That auction was posted on Thursday, when eBay was offering a 10 cent flat fee for eBay store flat buyout price listings. Basically you get a bunch of eBay stores listing crap for ridiculous buy-it-now prices since it only cost them a dime for each item listed regardless of price.
  2. That movie came out around the mid or late 1990s, well after Sigourney laid Alien 3 to rest.
  3. I think these days, sequels and spin-offs are less about giving fans more of what they want than having a sure hit. It's all about brand recognition. Why do you think they cranked out 2 new CSI shows when the original is still on the air. Some shows probably wouldn't be approved by the production studios/companies in the first place until it was pigeonholed into an existing, popular series. G Gundam certainly wouldn't have been made back in 1994 if they didn't have the Gundam name attached to the show. Like-wise "Arjuna with Bird People". The transforming Valks were just what Kawamori needed to sell the show.
  4. Any self-respecting musician wouldn't touch them - their body shape and (lack of) mass will only lead to an awful-sounding tone that lacks a decent spectrum/body/"warmth". Even Steinberger eventually had to add the "body" to their anorexic guitars after people complained about the sound and bad ergonomics. Edit: spelling
  5. What a ripoff. I think I only paid half or less for the one ICON made.
  6. Some people need to go back and read the beginning of the thread. Agent One said it best: sequels are spin-offs aren't meant to be original/different. People tune in because they expect to get more of the same. You wouldn't want a Star Wars movie to be a holiday musical, or a Die Hard movie to be a period drama.
  7. Doesn't seem to explain why she did "Death and the Maiden". She spent most of the movie sticking a gun in Sir Ben Kingsley's face. Heck, she even held the gun on the movie's poster.
  8. I dunno, but who has an ad with games at cheaper than $4.99?! I just called that one local CC which was holding out for the 11th, turns out they caved and started the sale 2 days ago. Fark! I think all the good ones are gone by now.
  9. Been nearly a decade since I played it, if I remember right you should send your Valks back to the SDF-1 before they blow up to get repaired and send them back out again fresh. So it's a matter of breaking up your Valks into waves so not all of them are in need of repairs at the same time.
  10. That's a heavily modified Hasegawa kit, I believe it was done before Hasegawa even released their Battroid version model kits. A lot of work went into it. The only transformable kits were the 1/100 and 1/72 ones made by Bandai, the 1/72 ones being reissues cast from the molds orginally designed by Imai back in the early 1980s, which Bandai bought. People are doing customs with Hasegawas because their kits have better proportions. Nicolas, I am surprised there was actually a store in Argentina that sold these toys. When I lived there in the 1980s there were no toy stores that sold Japanese imports at all. Have you considered ordering them from outside the country or is the customs fee too much to make it an option still?
  11. Haven't you ever seen Toy Story?
  12. More like the horror of the character "art" that looks worse than Anime Friend's renditions.
  13. Is Graham trying to pin down a formula that will make a new Macross series popular?
  14. Hot damn! Jung did the impossible - making the crappy kits look nicer than they deserve to be!
  15. That's not fair, singling me out and not Anubis. That Nagano style Rick Dias looked impressive at first, but when you take a closer look it's just a bunch of details for detail's sake. At least the extra details in Okawara's SF91 designs serve some functional purpose (verniers, etc.).
  16. No you're not alone... people often complain about Okawara's designs for the Silhouette Formula 91 suits being too busy, but they look pimpin' compared to that Rick Dias.
  17. OMG, I can imagine that kind of price. Did you actually buy them from a local store or is this the price you paid after customs?
  18. The ad won't show up until the 11th, when the sale officially starts, but 80% of my local stores have already started the sale and their collections have been raided. You'd be lucky if you can even find the crappy ones now.
  19. #13 out of 200... Who'd pay for misfortune?!
  20. Even if not a single copy of booted anime DVD was sold in north America, China alone is a huge market big enough to support all the boot DVD makers. They have an economy of scale where booted DVDs can be bought for a buck a pop. People are only fooling themselves thinking that cutting its distribution off in the US will make a significant impact.
  21. I think in Zeonic Front, heat sensor/IR is actually one of the ways you can ID potential hostiles on the field, although it is not a very reliable indicator and you need to use a combination of sensor/detecting methods as none of them are 100% accurate/reliable.
  22. I wonder if John Gaeta has anything to say about how the Japanese applied the multi-camera bulletime setup this way on one of the discs...
  23. No amount of camo is gonna hide a 18 meter tall mobile suit. Trust me on that. As for Hobby Gundam, they started kissing Bandai's ass when Dengeki Hobby Magazine came to the scene. Nothing like competition to change one's ways. Hobby Japan used to take the high road and wouldn't allow Bandai to interfere with the JAFCONs they organized. They did a 180 after losing Bandai's favor to Dengeki and allowed Bandai to have a say in JAFCON affairs since the late 1990s, which ultimately led to the popular convention's demise.
  24. Ain't that the truth. On Ebay yes. At a sponsored convention no. I am not sure if you guys read Bandai's press release correctly. Bandai served the defendants at this year's Anime Expo (less work for them since everyone's in the same room, they didn't have to serve them in multiple states and cities). Vendors were banned from selling unlicensed merchandise at this year's Anime Expo, they weren't sued for engaging in the alleged activities at this year's Anime Expo.
