  1. You could try two part epoxy type putties, the kind that comes as two separate slugs of extruded dough or the co-extruded variety that you have to knead together to activate. There are several brands out there such as Milliput or Aves or Kneadatite formulated with modeling in mind, to much stronger stuff that cures to a near metal-like strength and that can be found online or in Auto and Hardware stores. If the intention is to bolster or reconstruct stress bearing structures, the stronger "professional" stuff would be advisable. Just bear in mind that two part putties are exothermic in nature and may soften or melt very thing plastic sections, so it is a good idea to test on a piece of like plastic before committing to repairing the toy to see if there is any adverse reaction between the putty's chemistry and the toy's ABS, or if the putty generates too much heat (this really should not be an issue since the amounts of putty involved are small...small volume=little heat but enclosed spaces will trap heat too, so better safe than sorry), and even if it does that can be mitigated by working is smaller amounts at a time or curing in the freezer.
  2. As a standalone OVA, I found Orguss II to be very good, but as a follow up to Orguss, it feels too detached from the original; although, because of the overall character and tech designs it does have a passing resemblance. The mecha are pretty good, not to the same standard as those from Orguss, but not bad at all. Like DuelGundam2099 mentioned, the characters are well defined, the story is coherent and without extraneous filler, the action is tight and well executed, and the ending was satisfying and without any WTF existential BS or ambiguity or open ended-ness or just plain bad rushed wrapping-up like so many other anime... and it even had epilogues for the characters that made sense.
  3. Anime Toy: Yamato 1/60 VF-4G. This was, without a shadow of a doubt, the most I've paid for any plastic/diecast toy, ever. Yamato's 1/60 VF-17S and VF-19S, and Bandai's Andromeda are distant seconds. Non Anime Toy: AUTOArt 1/18 McLaren F1. Model: Kotobukyia 1/100 MGS Rex.
  4. Just got my VF-1A TV browny today; my VF-1 collection of TV only schemes is now complete, I'd be in for a Cavaliers version if I could ever find one around the $100.00 mark, but that is highly unlikely to happen. I like all the TV schemes, but I have to admit that the CF is my favorite of the bunch (like the DYRL? too, but I avoided getting into those with the V2; besides, I have a few in 1/48, so I'm good for most of the movie versions); just like with Gundam's Mobile suits, the grunt units hold much more appeal to me than the hero ones.
  5. I'm glad I requested a change in currency billing before the invoice was sent out. They never replied to my emails in this regard, but when I received the payment request today it was in Yen; it's such a minor thing, but the total with shipping came out to almost 20 USD cheaper than the original quoted amount when I placed my preorder. Now to decide if I should pay without delay or wait and see if the exchange rate gets even more favorable against the Dollar...
  6. I suppose it's possible, but Alto's YF-29 has already been reissued once.
  7. At that price I'll pass. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that Hobbyfan can deliver on my preorder.
  8. And my modest buying frenzy continues. I just scored a MISB VF-1A CF TV ver. off ebay for $89 shipped. I want to stop buying, I realy do, but I just keep getting pulled back in... Now the only VF I need is a VF-22S Max to call my Yamato branded Macross collection complete. And a VF-17D, and a VF-19F, and a VF-19P, and a VE-1, and a VT-1, and, and, and...
  9. TehPW, I believe this is the site you're refering too: http://conceptships.blogspot.com/ I saved most, if not all, of the images you mentioned in my HD; some were meh, but most were great. I could repost them here but only if it would be alright to engage in such massive image spam. As I do not wish to derail this thread, I'll only post one image, entirely in keeping with the thread subject, at this time:
  10. Okay, I've checked and I was right. In July of 2012 I placed a preorder for Alto's VF-171EX's armor parts set; the quoted total with shipping in US Dollars at the time of the order was $89.04. About two weeks before release, in December, I was invoiced and paid $83.97. Going by this experience it's likely the charged amount for the regular VF-171 will also reflect the current exchange rate at the time the invoice is issued... that's my hope; but, like I've said, I'll be keeping my options open and my eye on the charged amount vs. the then quoted price on the site if the item is still available.
  11. If I recall correctly, I don't think they work that way. I'd have to go back into all my previous orders and correspondence to bouble check, but I've been charged a lesser amount than innitially quoted in the past, precisely because the exchange rate was more Dollar favorable at invoice time. What you describe is true when you pay upfront since you lock yourself into the current rate, so that the best they'll do for you is offer any difference as store credit. Edit: ...but since I'm not sure, I'm keeping my options open. Also, paying in Dollars when using Paypal circumvents their exchange rate gouging.
  12. The Dollar/Yen exchange rate is having a positive effect on the affordability of these latest DXs, if one is able to secure a copy when preorders open. Case in point: When I preordered a VF-171 from N-Y the price was $182.77 +S&H; it's now $176.77. I sure hope the Japanese government keeps devaluing their currency so that the price will be even more attractive upon release, and that N-Y invoices at the updated price... or I may choose not to pay.
  13. Hear, hear! I almost always use credit cards, even when paying through Paypal, specifically to get points and added protection on my purchases, but I treat CCs as charge cards and never pay interest on anything because I pay the full balance before the due date, be it $200 or $2000+. The only exception is when I use Bill Me Later on ebay in order to rack up the cash back when they have their additional % promotions; it all depends on which option saves me more. In short, if I can't afford to pay for something in full when the bill comes due, be it a toy, some piece of electronics, or even a car, I just do not buy it.
  14. First image: B1 or B2, with B2 being a bit more dynamic looking. Second image: B, without a doubt. Now, like Kicker, I want to know what this Gundam-esque thruster pack is for...
  15. You ain't kidding, given how much attention to detail they lavished on the Cosmo Fleet on the first episode -- they turned the somewhat goofy and woefully outdated designs of the Kirishima, Murasame, and Yukikase into convincing, even attractive, space warships designs -- I can't wait to see what they pull off with the Borodino class battleship, the Hood class battlecruiser, the Lexington class battlecarrier, and the Andromeda class main battleship (drool...), not to mention the Comet Empire designs... my mind reels imaginning just how awesome the reimagined battle of Saturn will look. ... and all the 1/1000 capital ships models that will be sure to follow... I think I just wet myself...
  16. Nunca pensei que a Misa tinha um bumbum brasileiro... Eu gosto... Trabalho excelente como sempre, Ryuji; minha única crítica pequena é que eu desejava que a pintura da figura tivesse mais sombreamento, incluindo o cabelo. I never thought Misa had a brazilian butt... I like it... Excellent work as always, Ryuji; my only small criticism is that I wish the painting on the figure had more shading, including the hair.
  17. I think, if they did that, it would tick me off far worse than being forced to pay inflated N-Y prices for one in the absence of securing a discounted/MSRP preorder elsewhere. I sure hope your pessimism does not prove itself true, but I'm sure milking the molds for another bite of renewal sales with a second release of Ozma's Messiah is too much of a temptation not to pursue, and in the future we'll also have reissues of the G and the RVF to look forward to.
  18. I'm truly glad I already have a FV-25F renewal, so I could sit this out and just observe the carnage; problem is, this does not bode well for when the 25S renewal rerelease goes up... I foresee consecutive, bleary eyed, sleepless nights, and much frustrated cussing in my future within the next few months.
  19. Good luck with AmiAmi; they've sold out of their stock of every renewal and recent Frontier related DXs since the Ozma's debut within what appears to be nanoseconds of the listings going active. I'd keep a lookout of CDJapan, Otacute, N-Y, Hobby Search, and AE (just keep in mind that AE requires payment up-front with shipping charged once item is in stock). To all of you planning to stalk all etailers for the chance to aquire a VF-25F renewal re-release, good hunting! I'll join you all once the VF-25S re-release goes live.
  20. Quick, make another joke/prediction, but this time about the upcoming Arcadia 1/60 scale perfect transformation VF-2SS with detachable SAP and/or VF-5000... Who knows, maybe lightning will strik twice.
  21. Understandably so since all they did was use Toynami's molds and production facilities under licence, with a precious few tweeks/upgrades on their part.
  22. You're an evil, evil man. Happy April Fools to you as well...
