  1. You may have gotten your first, but chances are that it won't be your last... the renewals are that good. There is a 25A for 135 USD on AE, but once you add shipping your price was not too far off. Paint apps vary from perfect to flawed -- it's a luck of the draw kind of thing; although, more often than not, they are damn good.
  2. Here you go... Read his entire review then scroll to the bottom and enjoy.
  3. Does CDJapan's Paypal option give you the choice to select Bill_Me_Later on Paypal's site? If so, given that the total comes to more than 100 USD, you'd get 6 months, with no interest, to pay for the purchase. I know N-Y has that option available as I've done this with my YF-29 Isamu.
  4. ... and 45min+ later, all 30 are still available.
  5. Although it's a little hard to make out, one of the magazine scans on the previous page has a 3D CAD rendered view of the bottom of the plane which seems to show 2 ordnance hard points per wing.
  6. While the possibility always exists that the price could drop somewhat shortly after release, the fact that Arcadia's YF-19 is being manufactured to meet preorders means there'll likely be precious few extra units produced, too little to affect retail. Unless there are a lot, and I do mean a lot, of no-pays causing seller to sit on unsold stock, or Arcadia decides to produce a second run, I don't see the price going anywhere but up... just like what happened with Yamato's VF-4G.
  7. No. They're going to issue Renewal specific Tornado parts, not a v.1 rerelease, and they announced a second re-pop of the VF-25F Renewal, which was never a Tamashii exclusive. So, Bandai's track record of not reissuing Tamashii web exclusive releases holds true.
  8. Megahouse's 2199 Girls and Guys PVC figures are 1/8, Bandai's AU-09 model kit is to be 1/12, so I'd say... not even close to the same scale. However, Analyzer will look right at home with Figmas; there's an idea for Max Factory: 2199 Figmas...
  9. I still get a major SU-47 Berkut vibe off Osma's YF-29... Quick question: Alto's Durandal was a (the?) prototype, but with so many other units, and even versions (based on head designs), fielded, shouldn't this Valkyrie's nomenclature be VF-29 at this point?
  10. I could be wrong, wouldn't be surprised to be, but that YF-30 looks remarkably like a production ready, fully decorated, test shot to me... release announcement can't be far off. It's such a pretty bird too. Does anyone know if it'll be a general release or Tamashii exclusive?
  11. Since Figmas are around 1/12 scale, shouldn't they work just as well, and without the exorbitant cost?
  12. In 1/60, there are the under-wing ordnance that came with the old Yamato VF-0s and SV-51s, the VF-1s v.1s and v.2s, the upcoming YF-19 by Arcadia, and Bandai's own Armor Packs for the VF-171s... none of them will work with the VF-25s without major surgery to the wings or some kluge job that clips onto the wings to allow for weapons mounting, not unlike what Bandai did with the Gallia 4 Fold Set for the v.1 VF-25G. To my knowledge, there are no 3rd party, aftermarket, ordnance kits available for any 1/60 Macross toy.
  13. I've never seen official line art for the VF-27, so I'm just going off personal preference, and conjecture based on its VF-25 contemporary. Given that both the VF-25 and VF-27 designs, within the Frontier Universe, are derived from the YF-24 test-bed, should they not have similar space-frame construction? As far as the toys, I never owned a VF-25 V1, but how does it compare, surface detail wise, to that found on the VF-27 DX, and the later Renewal?
  14. That's just the thing, isn't it? The VF-27 with Super Parts was not a renewal, just an improved version of the original release -- a version 1.5, if you will; while a definite step above its VF-25 V1 counterpart/predecessor, it falls short of the engineering and execution of the YF-29 and VF-25 Renewals that followed it. The Super Parts equipped version released recently does benefit from some inherited retrofitted engineering from the Renewal 25s (forward thrusting crotch/hip reengineering and improved standing height/stance in Battroid come to mind), but is severely limited in its excellence by its outdated design; it's still saddled with inferior shoulder and landing gear, specially front, designs (there may be other engineering related things too), as well as lacking in surface details such as panel lines that are festooned, model-like, on the YF-29s, Renewal VF-25s, and VF-171s.
  15. Bandai has only done one reissue of the renewal molds, Alto's VF-25F. You're getting the original Frontier VF-25 DXs confused with the Renewal VF-25s. The original VF-25F DX Chogokin was GE-42 (GE-50 when bundled with Tornado Packs); the first run Renewal VF-25F (newly engineered and tooled -- no interchangable parts with the old DX line) is GE-54, and its reissue is also GE-54.
  16. That's the quandary I find myself in as well; I have a BPX-01 and find it hard to fork over 1.5X+ more for a new toy that is nothing but a fancier "retread" of something I already own.
  17. I think I may create my own kit in SLA to make my personal 1/60 Phalanx utilizing everything from the waist down of Yamato's Destroids. It actually looks very easy geometry to model (using a Bandai 1/100 kit, coupled with available line art, as reference).
  18. <pokes his head out from the shadows> Come on Bandai, where's the VF-25S reissue announcement, already? </goes back into the shadows to sulk>
  19. Got one at HLJ; almost thought I didn't because the checkout procedure moved through like molasses, but I got the order confirmation email eventually... so glad I stuck to my guns and ignored N-Y's inflated price. Thank you, joppewo, for posting about the availability.
