Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
mechaninac replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'll give that movie props for being aptly named. Sucker punched is exactly how I felt after sitting through that piece of garbage, even though it was a Redbox rental with a substantial discount code... pout-y T&A was nowhere near enough to salvage that incoherent, unwatchable mess.- 854 replies

I got the Amiami payment request as well; and since I had the Figma Motoko Arise figure awaiting payment too, I decided to combine them into one shipment. Now just have to wait for their final quote and deadline... hope it's first week of April as I have already spent way too much this March.

How many people understand that small nugget of wisdom? That being said... In one small sense, it does: Studio execs look at profitability as a measure of the quality/popularity of a property and decide to keep pumping out more and more crap... because movie audiences love lapping up crap. Disclaimer: I'm in no way intimating that BvS is crap... will have to see it to make that personal assessment. My post is a general response to a general statement.

^That's what got to me on MoS as well: It's not so much that it was a bad movie per se, but it was awfully tedious, which made it a fail for me because it just wasn't entertaining. Marvel movies, even the lesser ones, excel at being wonderfully entertaining; so far, the DC stuff hasn't even come close. I'll wait to rent BvS:DoJ at Redbox in 3-4 months.

^ So, every 10-15 minutes their RCS will go from "Nothing to see here..." to "Hi there! Can you see me now?". -

^ Yep! Expect the same weak wing bars and gimpy ankles as the original release.

HLJ has shipped my 0S... not long to wait now, unless Good Friday gets in the way.

That's one hell of a way to make lemonade... Bravo; you made it look like it was always meant to look that way... a production version VF-29.
-
^ 50%?!!!.. . Absurd!!!... Criminal!!!...

Just paid for my VF-0S HLJ order, so I'll join the owners club within a week...

I think you're being far too kind. This is the Hollywood equivalent of braking into a sanctum and desecrating it by using the reliquary as a latrine...

Finally pulled the trigger on a VF-0S with this HLJ sale; total was ¥27,340 shipped. The last time I was tempted was Amiami's damaged box discounts, but this was way better... glad I waited. Now, if they would only include the VF-2SS in this sale at the same 30% off... I suppose it's still too soon for that, but I'm patient.

It's not that Christal Skull was a bad movie per se, it was passable; it's just that it was a lousy Indiana Jones movie. It had its moments, but the whole was less than the sum of its parts.

Just got my second Regult, this time from Amiami, today. Great figure with outstanding articulation given the subject; although, Toynami's version, one of the few good toys they produced, is closer to 1/100 than Bandai's. Aesthetically, both versions do the mecha justice.

Somehow, the word Epic is too pedestrian and inadequate an adjective to do justice to this project...

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
mechaninac replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just my observation, but it appears to me that the turret is in scale with the details molded on the Death Star base tiles, not with the Fighter. So, it's both to scale and under-scaled... from a certain point of view. -

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2

AFAIK It's strictly a TFA version... rectangular sensor only. I wouldn't be surprised if an aftermaket round dish resin replacement is released at some point- maybe directly based off FM's 1/144 Falcon. -

Actually, at least as far as the Millennium Falcon is concerned, although not aftermarket, here you go...
