Yep! That's why I bought it up. The Flash Gordon series had me go in just about 5 minutes as well... Here's hoping that Netflix's LiS won't follow that pattern.

Sir, I readily concede the point. After I wrote my comment I had a thought along the same line: the original has got to be the campiest, silliest TV space romp ever broadcast, so to fail to meet even that low bar would be a feat in and of itself. Then again, never underestimate the possibility of even something as patently bullet proof as Lost in Space to have any adaptation/reboot/re-imagining be utterly ruined -- the Flash Gordon Series comes to mind.

Evolution Toy - VF-2SS Valkyrie I 《MACROSS II ~LOVERS AGAIN~
mechaninac replied to joppewo's topic in Toys
I guess I should've waited a little longer before buying this massive disappointment of a toy, and I got it at 42% off at that. One thing is for sure, subsequent releases will not be purchased until they hit at least the 50% off, or less, mark. It's too bad that the VF-2SS got relegated to being designed and produced by such an incompetent team/company... at least when it comes to transforming toys. I shudder at the thought of what they'll do with a VF-2JA (not likely it will ever happen based on the VF-2SS's reception) or their recently announced MOSPEADA line (if that even come to fruition). Maybe they ET should just quit now before they embarrass themselves further. -
Got my Glaug in today; 2 weeks plus a day via SAL, not bad. Saw the toy box inside the shipping box and thought "This can't be right, everyone on MW has been saying how big it is, then I opened it and beheld the toy all hunched over in its cradle -- almost like it's in a fetal position -- and had to smile; it is indeed nicely sized, and beautiful to look at, with plenty of articulation (although I wish some of the joints were a bit tighter, but they hold their positions well enough). Like many here, I also think that the red plastic used is a bit too saturated... it's almost a neon red. Minor nitpicks aside, I'm very happy with it. Pro-tip on getting the antenna to go into its slot without drama: bevel the tip of the pin all around with a needle file or sanding stick to give yourself a lead-in for insertion (just a tiny bit is enough... all you need is to soften the pin's tip) , and mind the orientation of the pin's D shape to make sure it lines up with the hole in the canopy. Do this is and the antenna will slot right in perfectly.

You are referring to Bandai's side of this manufacturer-consumer relationship, right?...

Fret not. I'm sure their color choices will be 100% accurate to their interpretation of what the colors should be... in their own heads. Whether or not those choices will be anywhere near what was depicted on screen, however...

The VF-0s' tooling were created to mold the toy's parts' outer surfaces with matte finish; to tool the Reactive Armor parts for gloss would be idiotic in the extreme, so a nice fine matte finish is 99.9% guaranteed (.1% chance of gloss because this is Arcadia we're talking about...).

Short-haired Samus has a certain Duenan Knute vibe going on... I like it. My only nitpick, and it's a minor one, is that her expression, at least what's been shown so far, is very dead-pan and thus, completely devoid of emotion or character.

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
mechaninac replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
^ I wouldn't worry about the listings being legit since the model has been released. Other than getting some boxes that did not survive the trip intact, due to some vendors using soft packaging, I haven't been disappointed yet with getting Bandai SW kits through Amazon. That being said, the prices are too high at the moment; unless you want to have a copy, or many, right now-ish, the better course of action is to wait until the hype dies down and the price comes down to be more in line with the 1/72 X-Wings and TIE fighters... $20+ instead of $30+ range. -
^ It's the colors, right?...

^ Right. Instead of a 5 second window, you'll have a whole 10 seconds... Joy!

I don't get the hate/hatred/hater accusations either; refusal to spend hard-earned money on something that someone has decided, from all available information, to be crap is not hatred, it's prudence and discretion. Mass market movies, specially summer flicks, are absolutely sold on appearance, and name recognition if available (check and check for this Ghostbusters attempt), in order to generate interest... that's what the trailers are for, after all. The fact is that, to a great many, the trailers for this particular movie have failed to inspire positive anticipation and to cash in on nostalgia over the originals. If it looks good to one person: great, go see it; if it does not: wait for the home release if so inclined or ignore it until it hits cable. Voicing a positive opinion does not make one a Pollyanna, and sharing a negative one does not make one a hater, either... different people have different tastes.

^JarJar runs around aimlessly shouting "meessa gonna die!" when an AT-AT foot comes down -- SPLAT! (like Bambi meets Godzilla). For a brief moment thereafter, all hostilities between Imperial Forces and Rebels cease, then a couple of seconds of stunned silence followed by thunderous cheers from all combatants... -
The odd thing is that Nickelodeon's contemporary TMNT series is surprisingly, thoroughly good, for kids and young-at-heart adults; heck, the original '90s flicks, as silly as they were, including (barely) the godawful III, were better than the modern movie take... which is really baffling until you remember that it is a Michael Bay project.

^ Because engaging in such shallow, transparent baiting makes them see themselves as morally and intellectually superior and tend to impress insipid minds who buy into that narrative. That being said, I'm positive that this new Ninja Turtles movie will blow the kind of rancid chunks that only a Bay associated flick can.

Just saw the first one recently off a free Epix preview. I had an entirely different experience, and thought it was pretty bad, so much so that I had to watch it over the course of a couple of days as it put me to sleep roughly half way through on the first night, and almost repeated the feat on the second. I agree with you on the fun for kids opinion... ADD riddled kids, that is.

From NX-2000 to NCC-2000 to NCC-1701-B, it's all the same filming model AFAIK... The question regarding this new series, for me, is will it air on CBS or not? The teaser seems to hint at a broadcast, bu if they stick to the original intent to offer the series only through their premium online service, then they can stuff the whole thing up their collective sphincters.
