  1. One of the only saving graces of this Robotech project is that it makes the production of the Beta/Tread fighter in toy form much likelier than before. Here's hoping.
  2. Man, that's borderline pornographic...I love it. Stunning talent Ryuji, specially when your speed is taken into consideration...flawless.
  3. I'm using a few models to acquire reference dimensions; namely: 1/100 Bandai Destroid Phalanx, 1/100 Imai Tomahawk, 1/72 Imai Defender (mostly for visual ref.). And here's a bit of tomahawk love...:
  4. And where, pray tell, do you come by this ETA for the, AFAIK un-annouced, MPC Beta? Inquiring minds want to know. It's not that I don't believe you, but on the matter of the Beta ever actually seeing the light of day I'm extremely skeptical...especially since, IIRC, a prototype has yet to be shown.
  5. One more update: Tarz, you work with Pro/E, heh? I'll give one guess as to what application I'm using to create my Destroid(s).
  6. What he said; otherwise they can keep it.
  7. Minor progress:
  8. The Atelier Sai figures will be rather pricey then, but if they are fully articulated, a la Maxfactory's Guyvers, than I guess I'd rather wait for those.
  9. No more 1/48s for you... j/k
  10. This is what I could find from Yamato USA, but no info on actual size, price, or release date:
  11. Time to get yourself a new truck. That thing is just a rust bucket. Amazingly realistic...Great work
  12. The amount of talent in this thread is just astounding...kudos to everyone. I've been so inspired that I've decided to contribute my own mediocre work to get some comments and constructive criticism. The picture bellow (simple screen grab...not a render) represents about 3 days work. I'm basing it on Bandai's 1/100 scale kit; measuring the model and trying to approximate/match some of the more "curvy" contours in a parametric CAD program is quite tedious, but in the end I'll have something that could be quite accurate to the kit. One of the things I do not have is a good illustration of the mech showing some of the details not present on the kit and an internal cutaway depicting the internal leg structure. If anyone has anything of the sort, please post or PM me.
  13. In other words, you have Maximilian Schell looking at you from behind Maximillian's shell . Sorry, couldn't resist... Alright, back to the show...
  14. Unfortunately that may be due, in large part, to the GBPs design, and the fact that, in toy form, a lot of the room that would allow better posability is eaten up by the sidewall thickness of the plastic. If Yamato's business plans no longer include regular, maybe bi-annual, Macross releases (mere speculation based solely on what has been discussed on these forums), or if they're done with Macross, I hope to see a release of the 1/48 GBP and at least a 1/48 CF in limited edition fashion...they have the molds, why not use them? After that they should relinquish the license to some other company that can take the baton, so to speak. Only problem with another company taking over is that they would start with the VF-1, just like everybody else. So I would rather Yamato continue to produce Macross products, albeit at a much slower pace.
  15. Looks like this thing is going to be a rental queen in no time flat.
  16. I remember that ding-bat. Some people are just scary (shiver).
  17. Makes you wanna preorder them, don't it?
  18. I think the target demographics for BLT is much younger than this new toon, which I assume is intended for the same age group that they think would watch the classic stuff. BLT is the kind of saccharine bilge targeted at pre-schoolers to pre-indoctrinate them into the PC "offend no one, unless they're Christians", emotions driven group-think that passes for education in public schools. For a much better example of a Looney Toons derivative done well just check out "Tiny Toon Adventures" If that is so, targeting younger viewers, that new Bugs would give me nightmares man if I was that young. I think you misunderstood me. I stated that "Baby Looney Toons" (BLT) was targeted at the sand-box set. This new cartoon is most likely aimed at pre-teens to late-teens.

  20. I feel...violated! Actually, since the show is to take place in the far future is really does not have any real bearing on the current incarnations of the classic characters. BL has a better point about the neutering of the classic 40's, 50's, and 60's cartoons from Warner Brothers to Hanna Barbera with post 90's PC sensibilities: I still remember the old, mid forties, Bugs Bunny take on the "Tortoise and the Hare" race, that used to run in Brazil, that had Bugs create a turtle suit. In the end of the episode the rabbit mafia, having confused Bugs with the turtle, prevent him from winning the race. The rabbits say "now you tell us" and the one to the far left takes out a gun and pulls the trigger; the bullet goes through all 3 or 4 Mafiosi and they all drop dead...fade to black. Today, if you catch this episode, it ends just after the "now you tell..." line. Pathetic. This new abortion can't be any worse.
  21. What sort of trouble could you get into?? They'd have to first of all begin speaking to you for that to happen! I second that. What would you loose by showing it to us ? Would they stop talking to you or sending you more prototypes ? oh wait ! they´ve already done that Come on Graham , it isn´t like you´re betraying them specially when they´ve left you uninformed for so long , if they actually cared about the info and material you´ve got they would just simply take it off your hands, besides, by this time that info is probably too outdated in ragards to their actual proyects now , so I don´t think it won´tl make much of a difference to Yamato I think all of this back and forth about showing or not showing the pictures is entirely dependent on whether or not Yamato made Graham sign a confidentiality agreement when he was in the loop. If a CA was signed than Graham would do well to keep whatever information he has to himself, lest he open himself to some breach of contract litigation. However, if no such document is in play Graham can divulge away all he knows; unless, of course, if he has some vestige of hope of ever being brought back into Yamato's fold, or if he has some sense of propriety towards Yamato that prohibits him, on a moral level, from perpetrating a breach of confidence with his former contacts, regardless of how shabbily he may have been treated...in which case it comes down to the old "can you live with yourself" dilemma. Graham, do what you think is right. But if at all possible, post away...we're too weak to stop begging. Just my $0.02
  22. That's always been Toynami's claim..."if the Alphas sell well enough to justify making a Beta, we'll think about it; and if we make a Beta it will be compatible with the current MPC Alphas for link-up." I'm paraphrasing, of course, but that was the gist of their half-hearted Beta announcement. Whether of not they actually make a Beta, and decide to make it link-able with the current crop of Alphas, or decide to release "all new" Alpha versions for Beta compatibility is pure speculation. In the end, Toynami will do what they perceive to be in the best interest of their bottom line. Also, don't forget that, according to Toynami, their next planned MPC line will be the Cyclones. A Beta, if it ever sees the light of day is at least 2-4 years away. Add to that the new Robotech movie/series that may or may not become reality; if it does than it would be safe to assume that Toynamin would give mecha from the new series greater priority for production, and the possibility for Betas becomes even more remote. Call me pessimistic, but I think the Beta is nothing more than vapor-ware at best; or, at worst, a Toynami ploy to get fans to gobble up the Alphas in the vain hope that a "promised" Beta would be made.
  23. Who/What the heck is this...a Klingon?
