1/1 LVL, whatever you're smoking I think you better stop now... j/k I finally got a chance to watch the first episode... Wow! The animation and CGI are fantastic and the story seems to be off to a good start. Both the VF-171 and VF-25 look great. I almost wish I hadn't watched the show at this time... waiting for episode 2 is going to be murder.

I have no problem with the story line per se, specially up to Ep. 4: while not outstanding, it is well paced and with interesting enough (I don't even have a problem with the mysticism and flying rocks). It's the substantial fast forward to Ep. 5 and the rushed ending that make M0, for me, less than a stellar OVA. IMO, M0 would have greatly benefited from one or more episodes to fill in the time gap between 4 and 5 and to give the ending more time to unravel.

Aren't CMs' Ride Armors 1/18 scale? That would make them small by definition, but also extremely compatible with a host of other lines of 3 3/4 figures.

The Tlead looks decent, but the Legioss looks half baked, as if the design supervisor looked at the first version to come across his desk and just said it's good enough... and that asking price is beyond ludicrous; I'll pass. However, I'm digging the ride armors; those look great.

Seeing all these VF-11 renditions makes me giddy with anticipation for Yamato's eventual -- one can hope -- 1/60-ish VF-11B. Just as the 1/48 VF-1, and maybe even more so, the Thunderbolt will be such perfect fodder for customizes to paint in myriad liveries that I can't wait. I specially like the grey toned US Air force inspired ones, and I'm sure Soviet Maskirovka would look fantastic on this VF also.

I use a make-up foundation brush to clean my display items; it also comes in handy to do auto interior detailing/dusting... I got the idea from a TV show that showcased this guy who cleans/details celebrity vehicles.

It's cooler because of all the reasons previously stated. It has an air of "reality" that is unmatched by any other VF-1... somehow, although based off a real camo style, the LV2 just seems "fake". And to top it all off, the LV1 is the only VF-1 to come beautifully panel lined right out of the box.

Just a minor correction: The F-117 was designed with facets because computers of the era were not powerful enough to crunch the numbers necessary to resolve the stealth characteristics of blended surfaces (by the time the B-2 was created, computers had caught up to the demands of the necessary physics... hence the smooth shape). Stealth is meant to reduce the amount of reflected EM signal the aircraft returns to the RADAR unit, thereby reducing it's apparent size, not to give the plane a particular signature (i.e. a flock of birds); the idea is to reduce the range of the enemy's detectors to the point that when/if they see you it's already too late. In an atmosphere, a stealth aircraft may have the radar cross section of a hummingbird or an insect; in space it would appear to be a small rock or a grain of sand (meteoroid).

Well, that slimness of limbs is likely what allows for the awesomely sleek fighter configuration. Robust limbs would mean a thicker overall fighter cross-section which would translate into a flying brick with gaping holes as seen in the 1/72 version... perhaps not as bad, but not as elegant as what Yamato has shown. So, like you, I will be more than happy to accept the compromise in proportions of the arms and legs.

If you lower yourself to deal with a$$h0le$, don't be surprised if you end up covered in $h!t. Aoshima should have known better and have nobody to blame but themselves; after all, it only pays to re-badge another manufacturer's product as your own if that product was a quality item in the first place, and it appears that their version is plagued with even more problems than the original. It's a shame about the Beta, but entirely understandable.

2006 was a more expensive collecting year for me than 2005, and 2007 was a couple of orders of magnitude more wealth draining than 2006. Now 2008 is looking like it will be even more wallet depleting than even 2007 turned out to be. Oh boy, poor house here I come... I can hardly wait

This gets my vote for one of the best mods ever; it's sheer genius in its simplicity. I'll have to look into this myself.

Nobody has ever claimed that being a collector was logical, and being a completist is even further divorced from common sense. Everyone here is guilty of these sins at least to some extent, I know I've succumbed once or twice.

What a shame... I was all gung-ho about getting a CF SV-51 but Yamato had to make it look like a plucked chicken. Unless they change the plastic color to a much darker shade of tan or a greyish brown I'll have no choice but to pass on this: if it doesn't look reasonably close to what I saw on the screen I won't buy it. As for the body colored joints and face, I believe the problem lies with how Yamato had the molds made. If they decided to go with a series of family molds to shoot parts in one go, then whatever the color happens to be that is what you'll get for all the plastic parts comming out of that mold; if parts that should be black belong to the same mold as the larger parts that are going to be magenta or brown, or whatever, then they will be molded in magenta or brown, etc., and the only way to make them look right would be for yamato to have them painted which will add cost. So, unless my assumption is totally off, the toys will have body colored joints.

That's been done already: Philip J. Fry (Futurama) was his own Great-great-etc.-etc....-grandfather when the crew tore the Universe a new hole and found themselves in 1940's New Mexico.

Either that, or include replacement wings with built-in hard points with the ordnance set (IMO the YF-19 should have had wing hard points all along anyway). That way, all one would need to do is open the wing gloves --are they glued or just screwed?... I can't remember-- and swap the wings. And the Heavy Weapon Arm Pod is a must with any such set. What do you say Graham? Is this something that could be brought up for Yamato's consideration? PS.: Yamato, while not alone in this, makes foolish decisions more then just some times; the 1/60 YF-19 is a prime example of this. The engineering on the toy appears to be only about 85% finished: the lack of chest locking in GERWALK and specially BATTROID, let alone the other minor flubs, attest to my personal impression. I hope they'll so a lot better with the upcoming YF-21; the SV-51 gives me hope that they certainly can do better.

I'd club a thousand baby seals to red stains in the snow with a NERF bat for a VF-2SS with SAP in 1/48 or even 1/60 scale. 500 baby seals for a VF-2JA. To phrase it in the form of a question: What would I be willing to do for a VF-2SS and VF-2JA? Seriously, though; I don't think it will ever happen, but if Graham could keep mentioning it every time he meets with Yamato, who knows? Maybe they would do it just to shut him up.

1. Have Yamato acquired, or are they in the process of acquiring, or do they even have any plans to try to acquire the license for producing toys of the mecha from the upcoming Macross series? 2. Is there any interest on Yamato's part to acquire a license to M7? 3. Will Yamato be making alternate paint schemes for their current and future crop of 1/60 VF's based on game licenses and/or one-offs like LV1 & 2 and Stealth from the 1/48 line? 4. As many have mentioned, other VFs would be welcome; so, do they even contemplate the possibility of making toys of the VF-4, VF-5000, VF-9, VF-14, etc? After the current possible mechs are exhausted from the licenses they hold, of course. 5. Will they ever consider making the Destroids from M0 and SDF in either 1/48 or 1/60 scale? And how about enemy mecha?

Pretty much. I watched the first episode to give it a chance to grab my interest... it failed. Tried to watch the second episode to see if would improve... it put me to sleep. I haven't bothered since. Odyssey 5, however, seems promissing; at least judging from the premier.

Too late, First Contact and the whole Enterprise series already did that.
