  1. True. Henceforth people will b!tch about being Arcadia-ed...
  2. There's something about that link that triggers a trojan warning and blocking from my antivirus software.
  3. That's a myth. The 1/48th kit may have been used as inspiration and, to some extent, proportion's reference for the 1/55-ish Toynami Masterpieces; however, even a cursory comparisson between the two clearly shows how different they are not only in outlook and scaling, but also in complexity and execution. If anything, the toy is quite a bit more intricate than the model, and the various issues it has are entirely related to how overambitious it was, and how badly Toynami's designers, engineers, and chosen manufacturer flubbed their efforts from part tolerances, to materials choices and locations, to Quality control. That's not to say that the kit isn't too complicated for its own good, but to pin any of the blame for the Masterpiece Alpha's woes on it is just not accurate. Toynami's failure was entirely of their own making.
  4. Dangit! Winter storm Nemo has messed up FedEx's delivery schedule to the NE-USA... no VF-4G for me until Monday(?). Mother nature can be such a 'biatch'!
  5. Gotta agree with you on that. That model is impressive as hell, a credit to the modeller, but the Metal Siren is just an ungainly, cluttered, mess. The Icarus would've been preferred by me as well.
  6. Good grief that's awesome! So much more "presence" than the 'G' head the toy has as default. That's a remarkably good fit for a first go-around -- aside from 3D-scanning the toy's head to use as base reference to modify and/or build atop, I don't think you could get any closer with just calipers and MK1 eyeballs; but, to the perfectionists in all of us, will you be making any adjustments to make it perfect before making the custom head (what should we call it, a VF-4S?) available for order on Shapeways? I bow to your modelling skilz...

    Macross figures

Dagnabit! Just noticed that I replied to the wrong post... I didn't intend to tell Zor Primus what he got, I meant to tell Kaldar5 what ZP got. Zor, one of these days I'd like to get me a 1/250 VF-2SS. Also, I don't think the Destroid and armored J are 1/250; I thought theat line of gashapons was closer to 1/180-200...ish.

The Tomahawk and GBP-01 are Trading figures from Kaiyodo, series 002, I believe.
  9. All this proves is that some (most?) of these online vendors will have the occasional screw-up with inventory availability and sourcing of some items, and the odd communications hiccup. It doesn't make them bad sellers, but does mean that once in a while you end up with a bad experience that can sour your oppinion of said seller. $h!t happens, so as long as you're refunded it's all cool. Scream Man, glad you were able to secure a copy through N-Y.
  10. Okay... I can almost understand the idea of a Han Solo origins story being made; it's unnecessary, uninspired, meritless, and entirely superfluous, but I can see why they'd think it has appeal. However, between AOTC and TCW series, Boba Fett's backstory has already been stablished, so what would be the point?
  11. Just requested shipment from HLJ's Private Warehouse yesterday... now paid and on its way to an expected Friday delivery via FedEx. I can't wait.
  12. How cute, the built themselves a TV/Movie prop and a RC model for flying footage...
  13. What better way to justify their cancellation of the project than to show what little there is of it against a juggernaught that is bound to trounce it. They can later look at the ratings, see how bad they were, and pat themselves on their backs at how clever and insightful they were in their decision.
  14. Yoda and Ben were right, 'from a certain point of view'. Luke just proved that, as Yoda himself said, 'forever in motion the future is', and can be changed by one's actions, or innactions; he fill the role of the redeemer by absolving Vader of his sins and allowing him to regain his Anakin self before he dies. In his confrontation with Vader before the Emperor, Luke was certainly tempted by power his unleashed anger released, but he was not seduced by it, and in rejecting it, he overcame any chance Sidious had of turning him to the dark side. Therefore, I don't think he'd be a good candidate for the villain in the new trilogy. Personally, I'd think it best to break free of the previous movies and just tell a whole new story that references what came before it but is not saddled by it... the better to avoid further continuity issues that are already so glaring between the original and the prequels
  15. This whole Darth Maul/Mandalorian arc has been far more hard core than I expect of any American mass-market animation... loving it!
  16. Cool, but super glue on a $300+ toy?... You're a much braver man than I. I think if I wanted to add those hardpoints I'd attach them with some automotive grade 3M double sided tape, much easier to clean up leftover tape residue than CA left-overs if you ever change your mind. CA requires acetone or an acetone based remover to strip away completely.
  17. Looks really good, love the load-out (tacky putty?). Now, all you need to do is panel line it to bring out the engraved detail (I plan to do mine with a fresh grey Gundam pen) and you'll have real looker in your hands.
  18. Could the title of the movie be considered a pun describing the general feeling the moviegoer will get after spending good money to see this picture? You know, kind of like how I felt after renting and watching Sucker Punch... like someone had just struck me in the gut, hard.
  19. Joan of Ark in full armor is hardly a realistic portrayal of women in general, specially for her time period, since she was a very unique case; there may be other examples, but, in general, a woman of her era depicted as a 15th century French peasant or wench would be far more accurate. As for Major Kusanagi, I like the way she's drawn in the SAC and beyond, with her look in SSS the best... although I find SAC's getup to be the most visually entertaining. Her new ('old'?) look for Arise is fine too, but far less sexy based on the single image we've seen.
  20. I'm not sure what is canon, but if you go by Bandai's GX-58 toy, the Andromeda class Dreadnaughts have a hangar bay roughly in the same location as the Yamato: stern underbelly with a loading ramp. One could assume that the Borodino class Battleships also share this feature; although, given their much smaller size, maybe not. But there is the Borodino derived Lexinton class Battlecarriers to serve as fighter craft platforms for Cosmo Navy battle groups. As for those predominant stem under belly scoops present on most EDF ships, I've never seen any official information regading their function. The could be sensors, or Bussard collectors, or, if you go by the following resin kit images, they could house thrusters and retro thrusters; or if the last image is any indication, at least on the Andromeda, they could be torpedo launchers.
