Well I finally finished the game last night. 28:50 hours of playing time, with a Bear ranking (CQC Expert). That was awesome... and even that word doesn't seem strong enough to convey the greatness of this work. Kojima not just created a wonderful game, but a true work of art. Hell it is probably the best videogame I've everplay - it is also definitly better than a lot of stuff in other media as well. I'd say the ending even manages to surpasse MGS3's - which in my mind was near impossible. It really is -that- good. I'd say if you like videogames it's just one of the games that you just HAVE to try out. As simple of that. And I must say I'm not too keen on a MGS5 after that.... It'd almost seem a wast to creat a new Metal Gear considering how fitting this game ends, and how it ties up everything in the series. And the idead of a Metal Gear witout Kojima is just scary... especially in term of plot. If they do now Metal Game I'd hope they do and trill to fill in some of the gaps between games rather than trying to make a pointless sequel I'll porbably post more spoilery thought later. -Sergorn

Finished Act IV. My.... GOD. This game is so awesome I can't quit playing it... But I don't want it to end -Sergorn

Wow I just finished Act 2 - that was awesome. I'm really baffled at how much variety this game seems to have - Act 2 was *totally* unlike the first one. Starting Act 3 now -Sergorn

So I went and got my Limited MGS4 edition this morning. It came with a pretty neat Old Snake figure that's nice And so here are some first impressions about 6 hours of gameplay, just starting up Act II (Not plot spoilers, juste thoughts about the gameplay) Well it kicks major ass. There thats it (Well that would pretty much sums it up but...) Graphically it looks pretty much awesome. Granted there are some poor texture here and there, and a bit of aliasing at times, but for the most time it is pretty much awesome (the character models are nothing short of breathtaking). There are some little framerate drop when there is a LOT of action on screen, but for the most it's very smotth. On a side note they also really manage to bring really seamless transition between gameplay and cutscenes this time, which is pretty neat. In term of gameplay it's just as great. Admitingly there's nothing really revolutionnary here - it's actually very reminiscent of Snake Eater, focusing mostly on camouflage, with the Octocamo essentially replacing the uniforms. Everything however feels more streamlined and enhanced, notably in term of UI (it's pretty much an enhanced version of the MGS3 Subsistance UI) and the ability to actually move & al in first person view is a *most* welcome addition (I ain't too fond of the "gears of war" view they offer personally so I prefer shooting in FPS like the other MGS). It'd say in term of gameplay it's pretty much to MGS3, what MGS2 was to the original game. I also play it in "Big Boss Hard" so it can gets a bit challenging, but not frustrating. IMO, Metal Gears games just tend to be way too easy in Normal. The whole "urban war" aspect is freaking awesome as well - the atmosphere is great, and it feels very different from the other episodes. Hell I dunno how it will unfold for the next chapters, but thus far I must admit i've done more shooting thant sneaking. It's not that sneaking ain't possible, but with a war going on around you it's hard to resist fighting in it, espacially since there is some great interaction with the allied Militias. On a side note kudos to David Hayter - he's as great as ever - and the way he act the old and tired Snake... is just awesome Not much to say about the plot, it's great but so far introductionary. And on a small minor environment spoiler So anyway, it feels like a great MGS. More later. -Sergorn

I don't mind experimental animation - eck there was a whole weird looking Aquarion episode which I loved... but here it just stick out like a sore thumb and the scene as a whole felt a bit too fast as if it was a last minute addition or something. -Sergorn -

Well that was a nice episode ! No earthbreaking revelations - but some nice snippet here and there. I loved all the references to Zero obvsiouly. The mention of "Doctor Mao" is interesting... I doubt it's just a throwaway comment. It feels like Ozma knew her and I wonder if she wasn' on the fleet destroyed by the Vajra Brera Sterne is a cybord : interesting. They're really freaky on the Galaxy... I also got to wonder if Leon's mysterious contact wouldn't be Grace... pruplre hair... female voice... mayhaps it's some kind of holographic disguise or what else. Other than that the episode was good.. and I'm definitly rooting for Ranka However hugh that whole Hydra fight was terrible, I got the feeling it was an intended "artistif feel", but it was awful looking -Sergorn -

Hum I dunno aboutthe Galaxy launch date. Perhaps they are just experimenting on the Vajra then... but there really seem to be something there. -Sergorn -

Good episode. We finally learn more about Mikhail's past (though I guess... It's supposed to be Michel Blanc and not Mikhail Buran now ) and it's pretty neat. The action was very cool too. The more I think of it, the more I feel the Vajra must be a Galaxy experiment gone wrong of something among those lines. However - what the hell happend with the art here ? The 3D was as great a ever... but the 2D art really felt subpar this episode, and not juste for a couple of shots here and there. Oh well bring on episode 10 anyway ^^ -Sergorn -
It's been confirmed as BD and overexageration. I think some people juste can't seem to grasp the passing of time. Hell the same article breaking the news says MGS2 had 45 minutes cutsenes. Come on, the longest cutscene in MGS2 was like 15-20 minutes at most and came near the end. I know time is relative, and the way Metal Gear Solid blend gameplay and cutscenes can blur the boundaries between each, but t's just ridiculous. -Sergorn

Yeah he reacted strangely when he saw her pic amonsgt the people who had contact with the Vajra, and quite obviously influenced the Miss Macross jury members so that Ranka would not win. -Sergorn -

Thanks you GG ! Not only they are fast, but there subs are pretty good too. I'm hoping they'll continue doing the series.... Anyway.... that episode was HILARIOUS I loved it ! I'm not sure what else to add as there isn't much happening (though we get Ranka with Brerawhatsisname, and Sheryl at school ? My ) And and yeah I definitly ticked whend they show Zero stuff at the beginning of the op.... Can't wait for the next one.... I'm looking forward to learn mort about Mikhail -Sergorn -
Yeah that's how I interpreted that as well. -Sergorn

Becore being christened Macross, the Macross was named "Alien Space Ship 1", hence... ASS-1 It's actually refered like this a couple of times in Macross Zero. -Sergorn

AFAIK Frontier's rating are pretty close to Code Geass R2's. So I really doubt they are low. -Sergorn -
Yeah who cares. Just think of it as a parralal universe to our own. If there was a remake or alive action movie being made, perhaps it would make sense to put the crash of the ASS-1 further in time, but as far the already existing universe goes, no need for any retcon IMO -Sergorn

Well as I said it's from the "English Fire" album, which is an official release. Not some fan stuff. I really can't stand that -Sergorn
-
Ugh isn't that from English Fire ? I think it sounds terrible and pretty much ruins the original song... like all the English Fire stuff. -Sergorn

OMFG !!!! What the hell what that !? That was... geez there's no word ! Holy fraking frak ! I mean really obviously Macross pwnz ALL. There's no other anime series out there than can offer just gigantic et exciting. Note the Satelight : you can keep forking out as many subpar 2D shots as you want as long of you keep the CG battles THAT good. My.... and my, and Transformable DESTROID ? OMG!!!!!! The Macross Quarter close-range transformed reaction quantum canon attack : whoopie ! And my there are definitly odd stuff : Sheryl's earrings are definitily specials here, which lead me to believe there HAS got to be some story about here mother and her background And then of course who the hell is Brera Steirn ? He obvisouly was prisoner of the Vajra, which would tend to assume he isn't one of them but who know. And I felt his VF was definintly reminiscent of the Anti-UN VF from Macross Zero. Geez anyone has a cryopod so that I can sleep for the next few month and watch all of the episode in a row ? -Sergorn -
I recall hearing of this stuff a while back, and I think it was in english. Supposedely it came from the chronology of a Macross videogame - possibly one of the non-canon game that were released at the taime of Macross II to link Macross II with the original Movie/series (Macross 2036 or something like that) -Sergorn

I wasn't too fond of Macross Dynamite 7 either I must say. It was ok, but really nothing special. The whole "galactic moby dick" story wasn't very excting, and all in all this series is kinda, but hell it's main appeal is just seing Basara again and hearing new Fire Bombers song in beautiful new animation. And yeah the whole Mylene rape thing was kinda disturbing (and where the hell is Akiko anyway ?) I guess my main problem with Dynamite 7 is that it really didn't bring anything new - I wish it had added some intersting stuff to the universe, or the character ; or at the very least resolved the freaking love triangle. It just leave a somewhat unsatisfying feel, as it you know there were still one chapter to be told in the grand Macross 7 scheme of things that just doesn't seem to come -Sergorn

Macross Plus Remaster Box /Macross 7 TV/OVA
Sergorn replied to jet660's topic in Movies and TV Series
I think it's just that the Macross 7 Remaster is just that good actually. The Macross Plus remaster (both OAVs and Movie) is great too, but I just feel Macross 7 is a one step ahead. As a matter of fact I don't think I've seen another Remaster that looks as good as Macross 7 - I got some rip of the Escaflowne HD Remaster, they looks great but still : Macross 7 just looks even better. In any case that remaster of Macross Plus is still lightyears ahead of the Manga Video Releases, especially the film. -Sergorn -
QFT. If *that* is supposed to be a poor looking shot, geez they can make a lot mot shots like this as far as I'm concerned :-P That Sheryl shot is beautiful. As long as Macross Frontier doesn't start looking like the manga (which IMO looks amateurish as best) I'll be happy personally Boy I agree ! It's even truer for long-winded series adaptated from exsisting Manga - the way they just "have" to broadcast one episode a week just lead to very uneven quality (from good to downright awful), not to mention terrible crappy filler stories and episode. It make me whish they'd just go and take six month breaks for everything. -Sergorn
