I am not that well versed in trans-atmospheric travel, but this is how I understand it: Re-entry isn't at the same speed that it (or much else) travels is the atmosphere. During lauch, the shuttle accelerates gradually, not reaching its highest speed until it has already passed beyond the atmosphere. In re-entry, although not travelling as fast as normal orbit, the shuttle is moving at around 15,000 mph...which is faster than it moves in the atmosphere during launch. I haven't read up on this but like I said, this is how I have always understood it.

VFA-6H "Scott Bernard" MPC has been delayed
Phyrox replied to Posse Comitatus's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This probably belongs in the pinned topic above. That said, I am pretty pissed about this...Its not like Toynami had the best reputation going into this project...a year of delays can't be helping (unless they are really making sure the final product is worth $80.00) -
U.S. Military builds Superdeformed Macross

I want my money back for clicking on this thread. -
KingNor: I really, really wish I still had that Chevelle...but it was totalled a while ago. Some idiot made an illegal U-turn on a highway right in front of me, and that was the end of that. I took the insurance money and bought my second dream car, which you see in my avatar. I love the '70 T/A, but I still pine for my SS

Well, it isn't anything urgent...just curiosity really. Don't put yourself out over it. Thanks though.

Of course I know what a sleeper is, I was just asking what put the VFEX in that category. If we are telling stories...well I don't think I ever lost to anyone that would race me except a motorcycle. I had a (very suprising) close call with a VERY worked up S13. He didn't have the off-the-line punch, but after we hit around 50 it was like we were glued together. If I hadn't had my low end advantage it could have been embarassing. This is when I was driving my '70 SS454, which hardly anyone messed with anyway so I didn't get in too many races (occasional M3, Supra, 300GT were willing to get burned). And all straightaways for me. I wasn't about to take that bad boy onto the twisties.

What makes this car a sleeper? I mean, it looks pretty obvious to me...so what's under the hood to back it up?

I have a quick question regarding the Sentinels that I figure can be answered by those with the Robotech Art book. Who designed the original mecha for the show? There were new Destroids, Invid, and various alien mecha designs...who did them? Thanks for the help.

The only problem is it doesn't look anything like Millia..aside from the hair.

Fatty Tetsujin28GO is coming to SOC land!
Phyrox replied to Beware of Blast's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I thought SOC was just for "super robots." If that is so, I can't see Patlabor SOCs being made. And yes, Eva units are super robots... -
Cute... but you'd also need some sort of giant enlarging machine along with your superglue to get a 1/100 monster to be a 1/60, homey. Actually, I think a lot was lost in the translation of the Monster to a transforming mecha. The two do look different. On a different note: Cannon IS NOT interchangable with canon. If you don't know the difference, look in a dictionary, or if you really must check www.dictionary.com Jesus. How can someone complain twice they don't know what a word means? After the first time: LOOK IT UP! maybe I am more frustrated because I have to grade so many poorly written undergraduate papers...but seriously people "Do It Yourself!"

You are going to have to do better than that if you want any help...seriously.

I use Paint Shop: Animation Shop The only problem is that you have to export each frame to PS, edit it, then import it back into the AS frame...tedious.
-
If you want to drive a slow '80s car...you can get one much cheaper.

Opinion: best sc-fi Capitol ship designs....
Phyrox replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think he meant the ship looks like a big gun, complete with hand grip. Ahh, I see. My mistake. -
Opinion: best sc-fi Capitol ship designs....
Phyrox replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hmm, the clutter on the "bow" of the Sulaco are supposed to be sensors (electromagnetic and other), not part of a huge gun. The only weapons you see in the move are the ventral/dorsal turrets and some forward-firing side-mounted guns...the Colonial Marines Technical Manual leads one to believe that missiles are the primary weapon however. But never heard of a "big gun" As for favorite Capitol Ship designs: Romulan Warbird Most of the stuff from Gall Force (even some of the Paranoid ships) Calimari Cruisers Gothic Class from Battlefleet Gothic (one of the ONLY Imperial ships I like the looks of) edit- forgot about the Sulaco's "rail guns." -
Well, I am a big fan of the original Monster but have never liked the Koenig Monster much...and this certainly isn't going to change my mind. Even if it looked as "sleek" as the line art I would be on the fence about it, but if the final looks anything like that...I will not even consider it. Where is the REAL Monster?

How powerful is a Macross Cannon/Gunship.
Phyrox replied to Malicious Gash's topic in Movies and TV Series
well...it does stray pretty close to a "versus" thread, which if I remember correctly is officially frowned upon here. Plus, well fanboy vs. fanboy "debates" are without exception a waste of everyone's time. But, I guess you can decide that for yourself. -

From the Compendium: And that is a correction of varifiable data, I do not want to contribute to the Star Wars vs. Macross "discussion." -

There is a simple answer: Do not involve yourself with such asinine "debates." -
Opinion: best starfighter designs ever
Phyrox replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Rico: How in the hell do you copywrite a starcraft you didn't design?! That's some trick. Seriously, if you are just doing "fanworks," leave the copywrite stuff off. -
Well, I think cosplay in general is a bad idea. I don't like any of it. But this guy should be praised for his effort and execution. I don't get why you guys think you should have to be fit to have a good time doing cosplay. I thought it was all about creativity and imagination...not a beauty contest. I am suprised at the negative reaction here, looks like he did a good job to me. And I couldn't care less that he is out of shape. I think that it's pernicious, this attidute that anyone with a body not fit for prime-time is unworthy of being seen. So, given that I think all cosplay is stupid (or at least not my cup of tea), I think this guy did a fine job, and should be congratulated, not condemned for being a bit fat. But, that's just me.

Phyrox replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yah, you better ...I check that "Gall Force Scans" thread every other day just to see if I missed your posts of all the good stuff you said you had. I really like some of the Gall Force starfighters (esp. that small one that leave from the Starlief's side bays in the begining of Eternal Story). If we were talking Starships, I think nearly all of my favorites would be Gall Force designs. -

Best: - Aliens Dropship (my absolute favorite) - Star Wars B-Wing - Starcraft Corsair - Megazone 23 Tivar Worst/Overrated - Star Wars X-wing (even as a kid I didn't see what made this cool) - Last Starfighter Gunstar - Battlestar Galactica (anything from this show) - Babylon 5 (anything non-human) Well that is my short list of good and bad starfighters. I see I conflict with several people here on my worst list...but am glad to see many have the same good taste with respect to my favs...
