As stated above, HG's license can't run out...they don't have one. They don't license Macross in North America, they OWN it. They license it to other companies.

Well, I dont find anybody in modern times using the word codpiece. THey probobly used it in old english or mideval times refering to armor. Just a guess. Walk down the street and ask anybody about there codpiece and nobody will know what the hell your talking about. People also used the words thou, thee, ye olde, ect......for hundreds of years too, but we dont use them today. Therefore, using those tems would make them interesting. I mean, when the last time you looked at a porno mag or movie and it said "wow, check out john and his 12 inch codpiece". Or, you go up to the porno store clerk and say" excuse me sir, but do you carry a swedish codpiece enlarger?". This only makes sence if you think a codpiece refers to a penis...which it doesn't. Granted it is a fairly archiac garment...but as far as I know, codpiece still refers to an element of male dress and has not entered slang lexicon with a different meaning.

what is interesting about "codpiece" as terminology? the word has been around for centuries...and was used quite appropriately here. I don't get it

eh, I liked DYRL... but what the hell does a Draken have to do with any of this? Is it just to waste bandwidth or something?

You rock Cyclone. thanks. and keep up the good work on your site...not much to add I guess, but keep it up nonetheless. sweet.

I'll grant you it is bad news. Maybe worst news of the year to his personal friends and his family...but people I don't know die everyday.

I brought this up a while ago...old board I think. Anyway, it is from the Japanese release LD or DVD liner notes from years ago...if I remember correctly. I have the updated 'Gosu' as well, but from what I understand that is it...or at least all anyone around then was aware of. -if anyone has higher res. scans, those would be much appreciated of course.

Here are my meager suggestions: Story - Gundam 0080: The only animated Gundam I have truely enjoyed. Zeta was fine, as was 8th MS team, but 0080 is the only one I own. Mecha - Gall Force (original): A bit old animation wise, and the story seems very rushed...like it was supposed to be an entire series smashed into an OVA. As a fan I still like it, but the mecha designs are really the saving grace. Overall - Evangelion: Overrated or not, I thouroughly enjoyed it. I must say that the first 2/3 -3/4 were the best part. I don't mind the ending(s), but they do seem a departure from the earlier feel.

I've always had this theory that if given enough time, even the most dedicated blowhards would talk themselves to death. I guess I've always been wrong on that.

I think he means there is way too much anime-magic going on with the Shadow Alpha's shoulders for a lineart-accurate shoulder to work in both modes. I for one have never seen how it works, given that the legs and rest of the arm seem just like a regular Alpha... Either way, loads of anime-magic or no, you can't do those shoulders with the MPC sculpt and have it turn out good on the fighter.
-
Does anyone actually know how well the alpha MPCs have sold? I guess someone like Kev from VE, or Tam from TMP would have a general notion...
-
Doesn't sound much like news... But I would get it if it came out. In fact, it wouldn't even need to connect to the Alpha for my interest. The battloid mode and individual fighter would be fine by me. Just fine. You can hardly call the guy a sell out...what was he supposed to do? Righteous indignation doesn't pay the bills. HG locked the import door, the only thing left to do to bring "macross" toys to the american masses is working with HG. I'd have done the same thing. I'd like to think I would have produced something better in the end, but he is hardly to be held responsible for all the MPCs probs.

I have a Bernard, and it is fine. It isn't worth $80, but none of these "adult" toys are worth what they charge. I think a lot of the opinions about the Alpha are based on the "squeeky wheel gets the grease" phenomenon. Sure there are some that have problems, but by and large they are OK. But people who get an OK toy rarely log on to message boards to say: "I just got toy 'X,' and it is fine." I do not mean to imply that the Alphas are extremely well put together, or are on par with other collecter toys like the Prime...but the chances are that you will not end up with a basket case. I could be wrong, but this is my impression. My only problems on the Blue Alpha were - a paint smudge on the leg (same place my red one has it) - some general stiffness - difficult to pose (somewhat lose) arms, made all the more difficult by a gun that doesn't want to be held - the upturned nose sculpt. For me, those were outweighed by the otherwise good sculpt and durability. The alpha seems to have less inherent flaws than the MPC VF-1 did. I got one just to have a 1/55 to go with the upcoming Alphas...but it was so ugly in fighter mode I put it back in the box and haven't seen it since.

Hmm, come to think of it...I really don't know any likely candidates. I get mine via the internet. But where near the Q are you at? I was born in the Allied Garden's Kaiser, and lived my first 11 years withing walking distance of the Q (which was the 'Murph' when I lived there).

I don't play or anything, but from what I remember from my "guitar music" course in college, I don't imagine that thing would sound very good...at least when compared to real guitars.

Where in San Diego...it's a big place.

Add VFX-66 technical report to my Aftermath page
Phyrox replied to yui1107's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I can barely understand the post itself, let alone the linked pages -
Well, here is some line art of it in its armor...as for a shot with the gun, I think the best you can do comes courtesy of our very own White Drew Carey.
-
I just got mine from Kevin at VE. # 1982 No problems with mine.
-
Yeah, I was going to get all four...but I might skip this one, not sure.
-
Well, lets see, it looks like the MPC shadow will be accurate in some ways: - Head - hip lights - gun - intakes ...but not, unfortunately: - shoulders - central chest - hands (can't really tell). At least according to my line art. Too bad. along with the head and intakes, the different shoulders are the most distiguishing characteristics.

Image Request for Spartas Hovertank
Phyrox replied to wolframbane's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hmm, I always thought that out of all the SC mecha I liked the Spartas best...but after seeing these high quality scans I must have been mistaken. That is not a good looking mecha. -
Shame that Nexus jumped the shark by getting rid of OP-Intensify and punishing you for boosting, though. I might rent it eventually, but I sure as hell won't blindly buy it like I did the last 8 games. Who ever used OP-intensify anyway? I never have...seemed kinda cheap to me. Even when just playing against the AI/missions I only used it if I couldn't get a secret part and needed an unfair edge. But that's just it. It was a part you could use or leave behind.. hell, you needed to go out of your way and preform specific tasks to even unlock its abilities. It's existed, either as Human+ or OP-Intensify since the first game. Why the hell should a bunch of people whining that it 'unbalances the game' despite them NEVER BEING FORCED TO USE IT. They did not have to use it, they did not have to face it in human versus (just bitchslap the fool if he refuses to fight without it), etc. Yet FROM SOFTWARE took it out just to satisfy the whiners. Hell, it's not like it changed the 1-player game.. the AI players STILL have Human+/OP-I abilities. I see what you are saying...but to me OP-intensify was never a big part of the game...and I just find it difficult to believe that it is singled out as a significant change/drawback of Nexus. No biggie really. I certainly didn't see it as being any bigger than weapons needing to reload or being inaccurate. THOSE change the game and the experiance much more than OP-I, at least for me.

I'll give it a chance. So far I don't see any reason this will not be entertaining. Seems to have a good cast, and the original book is loved by many...could be good.
