Gall Force mecha, ships and artbooks?
Phyrox replied to Tekkaman Blade's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
NP, that is the only book (out of 1/2 dozen or so that deals with non-Eternal Story mecha) The artmic entertainment bibles (there are two that I know of that have Gall Force in them) are ok for ships, although those ships have to share space with other mecha, characters, and several other artmic titles (Maddox, Mospeada, Bubblegum Crisis)...so they are a bit small, and don't account for much of the books. -
Gall Force mecha, ships and artbooks?
Phyrox replied to Tekkaman Blade's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Last year around this time I had a serious "jonesing" for Gall Force. My books are in CA, but I can tell you there are some art books out there. I will ask the caretakers of my CA storage center (my parents) to scan the covers of what I have been able to find. I also like the ships rather than the characters. I think what I have is what you are looking for...not like mine are for sale. I got all of mine via e-bay, all but the one dealing with the first installment, that one I had to get via Y! Japan...which was a bit of a hassle. I'll get back to this thread shortly... For example: This book http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5952899716&rd=1 is pretty good for the Earth Chapter stuff (nothing from eternal story) but this book http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5952899786&rd=1 is good for nothing. All it has are stills from #2 (destruction), and an essay at the back -
Pretty good review. I don't know why you would find it hard to read, or Dennis Miller-like...I didn't see very many obscure references (outside of Manos: Hand of Fate).

I thought '67 was the first year for the 427 in the 'vette? I agree though, I wouldn't drive a post-'80 vette if they were giving them away. I certainly appreciate that they are serious performance cars, but aesthetics are important to me, and the vette just doesn't register in that category for me.

color me unimpressed... maybe I am on the wrong message board.

hmm, I just noticed something...are all of your designs based on lego prototypes? because even after a round or two of redesigns, they smack of lego creations to me.

I think the porshe would look dope with a pair of carbon fiber altezzas, clear corners, and hyper blue side markers. YOu were smoking crack when you said that right? For the most part, I go with the "diff. strokes for diff. folks philosophy when it comes to cars and their modifications...but I take exception to the "altezzaesque" light fixtures. Those don't improve the look of any car. Any car I see with those on the street automatically loses my respect. Don't do that to your car people...it will be ashamed of itself.

Aircraft VS super thread!
Phyrox replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Glad you guys seem to like it. It is actually a Ju87 spinner/prop. Yah, without paint, the Shinden jumps out at ya...which is why I want those floats. the faster I can primer this thing the faster I can begin to work out paint schemes. -

Thanks for the further suggestions. I'm not too good at pure scratchbuilding, I mostly modify parts I come across. I think I will try to get a part that originally was a float, so I don't have to add or take away texture. Just for reference, this is what the rest of the project looks like so far. So, if anyone knows if any aircraft had floats that would be particularly appropriate for this, please, let me know. If not, thanks to all those above who already gave me suggestions. Back to your "this vs. that," and "F-22 pro/con" thread. -
Lancer Evolutions and Audi S4s are both good cars, can't you two grow up. Different strokes for different folks, and all that.

Aircraft VS super thread!
Phyrox replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Thanks, but... The spitfire's float pylons just won't work. They don't look like they belong to the 30s era. I'll have to check out more of the Japanese floatplanes. Some of them have the same problem that the spit's floats do, but there must be a couple that should work. The Swordfish is a rather large aircraft, and I think it's floats would be a bit too big. But I think I will try one of the Japanese recon floatplanes. I had a kit of one once, but its floats were both rather small, and "not fast" looking...but maybe one of the others will work better. Thanks again for the help. -

Ok, this is a bit off the current topic, but I know a few of you might be able to help me out. I am looking for 1/72 floats (and attachment braces) for an aircraft project...but don't know what kit to buy to get the size and shape I am looking for. My project is a kitbashed fictional Schneider Trophy racer, so I suppose that one of the Supermarine or late version Macchi floats would look right. But I'm not sure if they will be the right size for my craft, or if I can even find good quality kits of either. the project started out as a seaplane, then I liked the lines so much I wanted to keep it a landplane, but realized that the empendage I put on screamed interwar floatplane, and now I need to find some floats. The only ones I have are for an old He115, and those are far too big. For size sake, my plane is the size of a J7W1 Shinden (L: 5.7m, W: 11.1m) vs a much less bulky, trophy winning S.6B (L: 8.8m, W: 9.1m). Any ideas on doner kits? -
I don't know if this is heresy or not, but I think that is the best looking eclipse yet. Maybe it is the fender flares, or maybe just the front end (I like the tC as well), but I like it. On another note. When I first saw the new Mustang prototype images, I was excited...I thought the Mustang was going to look mean again for the first time in 35 years. But on seeing them on the road...something doesn't add up. Maybe it is that they are all bone stock, I am comparing them to mental images of slightly modified 'stangs of the last gen, but they look...I dunno, cheap. Even the GT isn't intimidating. Maybe a lower suspension would change all of that, but for now, I am (suprisingly) unimpressed. - And I don't say this as a Mustang hater. So far my muscle cars have only been GM, but that is more by coincidence than "brand loyalty." I DO hate it when people assume that their stock '67 289cid mustang is on any sort of level with my '70 T/A, but that is because I have distain for all the "secretary specials," and not a specifically anti-mustang feeling. But all that is for a different time...

Why on earth would they call that thing a Charger? Anyone who would care about that name being on their car will see it for the pitifull marketing ploy that it is, and people who just want a slightly more pedestrian 300C won't care what the name is. Jesus, why won't they let the great names rest in piece? Malibu, Impala, GTO, now Charger...I can't wait to see a Neon-based 'Cuda/Challenger. If they bring back the T/A (the longest continually-extant muscle car package, if I remember correctly), it better fit the T/A legacy...otherwise don't revive the name. I mean...never mind...I just can't believe someone thought calling that 300C-Magnum hybrid a Charger was a good idea.
-
Ahh, I do love the T/As...although I am partial to the early 2nd Gen myself (obviously).
-
Well, that looks to be about 50% or so bigger than the old 1/72 Halcyon...so I would guess it is 1/48, unless Aoshima has decided to go "wacky-scale" like Yamato and a few other Japanese companies.

When are those coming out? I didn't care for the Valk version...but this one I must have.

Videos: Japanese Sword vs 9mm then .50cal
Phyrox replied to Warmaker's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The 7th .50cal round broke it. -
To sum up what others have said, The movie takes the place of the last 2 episodes, and gives a different way that the series could have ended. The ultimate outcome is similar, but it is reached with more...well, stuff. It seems more climactic at least. I like the movies...but after having watched the series and movies a few times each, I think I like the series ending best.

ya...I don't get why Mospeada and its designs weren't/aren't more popular in Japan...* I hear what you are saying though, I am not dissatisfied with my Alphas, but I KNOW they could be better. * - I have read someplace that it has to do with its unfortunate time-slot, but in the DVD liner notes one of the creators debunks this notion.

How about we just don't encourage this kind of behaviour at all. Now it gets its own thread?? Jeezus.

eh, what is a grassy-knowl, and what instincts are usually associated with one? Ah, I see...you mean grassy knoll. Makes sense now.

I don't know, I have watched Asian cinema, and the endings there are, while not always typical hollywood, generally satisfying one way or the other. I've never seen a Kirosawa movie that had a weak ending. They don't end with a hero on his horse, but they do end "well." Most anime that I have seen don't. A few do, but most don't (at least not in my experiance).
-
Why? They wouldn't do anything with them. I'm glad that an American company - one that has incentive to use it - has the license. Yamato stuff may be of a bit higher quality, but if they had the license, you wouldn't be seeing any new Mospeada stuff at all I wager.
