1. While you are right, there are just as many people who think just because they have a car from europe with a flashy image they are kings of performance... 370591 Boxster owners. There is a myth going around that for some reason that car is fast... Its a lie. 370614 hahaha. yeah. they are the prime culprits. and the low end bimmers and benzes.
2. While you are right, there are just as many people who think just because they have a car from europe with a flashy image they are kings of performance. I used to eat those guys for lunch myself. My old beast wouldn't beat them around nurmburgring, but I could embarrass them on any road in our neighborhood. Sometimes, just sometimes, gobs of torque and horses really do matter. oh yeah, and emajn: this is a sorta racist comment. I don't think you were using it that way, but "jewed" is considered by most people to be a slur, particularly when used in this context. I myself didn't realize this until a few years ago when a friend pointed it out. You hear it so often you don't think about it. I mean, no one has a right not to be offended...but, well, I think we all know what I'm saying here.
3. Are you joking? Or are you really serious? If, somehow the later, I refer you to the "HG licensing" thread. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=153
4. The Former. You still have to make multiple jumps. But the Emperor is an intersteller reference point. Without him...everyone in the impirium would be flying blind, and the empire would likely cease to be.
5. I don't see how it would mess with the current codes. The Nato designations would remain what they are for existing aircraft. Like the BF-109 and BF-110 didn't have their designations changed after Messershmitt changed its name (contrary to popular opinion), and you still refer to pre-merger Douglas aircraft as Douglas. A MiG-29UB will still be a Mig-29UB. A newly designed MiG might be the STIMY-29SX...but that should be too confusing.
6. Anyone know if there are any videos (internet or hardcopy) of the Schneider Trophy racers? I imagine if anything exists it would be merely short clips, of the sort that would be used in newsreels and the like...but I'd love to see some of them in action. Come to think of it, out of several books, I have only seen a dozen or so photos of them airborne at all.
7. Hmm, I like Agent One's format: Series - pretty good. (7/10) DYRL - great, although I don't think it stands alone well. (9/10) Flashback - waste of time (2/10) Macross 2 - not great, not bad. (6/10) Macross 7 - bigger waste of time than flashback (1/10) Macross Plus - really good. (7/10) Macross Zero - didn't even feel like macross. no good on its own merits. (5/10) So, I guess I am only really a fan of half the franchise...at best. And going by the most vocal opinions on this board at least, a bit unconventional.
8. That's not a custom. It's the Q-Rau from Macross 7, I THINK one of Mylene's sisters. Its 1/144 scale but I forgot who made it. Its pops up now and then. You can check the recast shops for it. 237343 It is made by Kaiyodo. Robot Museam series or something along those lines. It used be listed in the models section of the main site, but I don't see it there anymore
9. This is pretty much the only think I like about M7, but at least I'm being constructive.
10. since it only exists in a cartoon fantasy world, the chief characteristic is "cool lookin'." on that, the legios wins in my book. because if you look at either of them from a realistic design perspective, you soon realize that a transforming fighter jet is not such a good idea, giant alien invaders or no.
11. 1) I suggest going to DakkaDakka forums with these questions. When I was more active with my 40K armies it was a great place, haven't been there in a while though. 2) That said, I'll put down what I remember: -The Space Marine armor is only wearable by them because it has some internal attachments and whatnot that are all done up during the initial transformation from man to space marine. They aren't normal men, they are the best of the best who have then been physically transformed in a very severe (and dangerous) procedure. -I don't know much about the sisters...but last I remember they are in no way transfigured with an ancient gene-seed like the astartes (space marines) - Again, space marines are made, not born. I see no reason they couldn't have children, but they wouldn't be space marine children...unless you believe in Lamarckian inheritence. - the bottom line for your armies fluff is this: do whatever you want. This won't have any in-game rules effect of course...but let your army be your army. You can't mix and match rules from diff. codexes, so unless you are using the rules for demonhunters or some other chapter that uses inquisitors, you will have to have your inquisitor really be a chaplain or librarian (you can still use an inquisitor model, in appropriate power armor, but he won't really be an inquisitor "rules-wise"). - as for firewarrior chapter ID, I have no idea. same for the two missing founding chapters. this is the kind of stuff that will be easy to get from the dakkadakka members. - as for the emperor...it seems to me to depend on what fluff author you read. stuff from the earlier years, and even 2nd ed. seems to be different from the 3rd and more recent stuff. Part of what makes the concept work is that no one really knows...so that's cool with me. One of the biggest divisions amoung the inquisitorial factions deals with interpretations of the emperor's state and future. - hope that helped a little. I am certainly not a 40K expert.
12. I might have mentioned this before, but my best friend has one of the 50th anneversiary 'vettes...and all I can say is you ain't missing much. Sure, it is fast and handles great (at least compared to what I am used to), but it seems soulless. I know this sounds crazy, but I have as much "fun" crusin' mountain roads in my mother's Acura as I do in the 'vette. It is fast, but it doesn't feel brutal. What is the fun of speed if you have to look at the speedo to know you're really moving? I am by no means saying that they aren't good cars, or that they aren't good sportscars. Just that they don't seem to me to be worthy objects of automotive lust. Maybe it's just me.
13. It is the only thing I agree with Agent One on... The way he presents the argument isn't how I would go about it, but the general thrust of his feelings are my own. I imagine M7 has just as many "silent haters" on this board as "silent fans." And if memory serves me correctly, the two polls did indicate that most members who bothered voting were in the "don't like M7." It wasn't an overwhelming majority like 75-25, but it was more than 50.
14. While my car was in the shop, someone left me an offer on their business card: "If interested in selling mustang, call Steve at ###-###-####" Mustang? Why would I sell my car to someone who can't tell a mustang from a firebird? Besides, I don't think there is an angle from which my car doesn't advertise its "trans am-ness."
15. You know what would have been a really cool idea? If with each of the different alphas they had packaged a small, in-scale, pvc/vinyl invid mech. The bigger ones wouldn't work, but with the four we had they could have given us both the armed and unarmed scout and trooper. There certainly was room in the box...and would maybe have encouraged people to buy more than one alpha. Was just thinking...that's all.
16. Yeah, leafsprings are why the Z06 is so slow around a track. 364988 Seriously. And don't forget, one of those "rubbish" vipers won La Mans. I remember all the excitement when a Mustang varient (cobra R?) pulled 1.0 on the skidpad not too long ago. American cars haven't really been known for only going fast in a straight line since the real muscle cars of old. Now, their performance cars are fairly well rounded.
17. strange, I missed the humor. it was all pretty boring to me.
18. I know this is a late addition, but my Japanese tutor always told me that the Japanese R/L sound is really sort of half way between the two sounds in english.* That's the way I always try to pronounce them at least. I never understand when people insist on romanizing with one and never the other. (like some people insist on doing with the mospeada TREAD, calling it TLEAD). Neither letter is really any more accurate pronounciation-wise than the other, so use whichever makes more sense. * - In american english your mouth and vocal chords to the same thing for both letter sounds, but your tongue is in a different position. Touching the top behind the teeth for L, further back and not touching for R. The Japanese sound, at least according to my tutor, and my ears, requires the tongue to be in an intermediate position between those two (almost touching the roof, and a bit behind where it would be for the L sound.
19. Interesting about the Macross reference with the pilot of the white mech... But does anyone else see the obvious Warhammer 40K Titan influence in that red one. It isn't so much a reference as a scaled down copy.
20. Well, I've always thought the "original" SDF-3 was a weak design. And I have always really liked the Izumo design from Mospeada from which this new version gets most of its inspiration. Additionally the rationale for the original organic design was just as bad as its appearance. So, I think this new "boxy" update is quite a good one.
21. Just average IMO. Nothing special. Graham 361501 I'd agree, with one exception. Maybe it's because I am one of the few people who like the "inorganic" designs, but I've always really loved the cover to the Sentinals RPG:
22. Actual, the show mythbusters, and a recent magazine article have shown that the danger from cellphones is non-existant. Strangely a much more dangerous practice is entering your vehicle while it is pumping, building up static energy interacting with the seat fabric, then handling the pump...
23. I'll post what I have. Most of these have been taken from MW itself, so credit to those who scanned and created them and all that jazz:
24. I don't know about Jersey but my friend's long-time Oregonian family tells me it has to do with employment. The law was passed, so they say, to guarantee local jobs. Don't think gas station attentends had a powerful union, so who knows.
