  1. If said rumor is true it speaks of at least some sense over at the HG offices.
  2. Anyone know what the future releases in the HGUC line are? Only ones I know about are the quebeley and gaza and methuss. Would love to see some of the more forgotten ZZ mecha.
  3. I don't think you understand how this, and other, message boards work. First of all, like JB0 said, only mods/admins have any power to close threads and the like. Secondly, this isn't "your" thread. Once a member opens a thread with their original post, it belongs to the community, as it were. This will save you some frustration if "your" threads get hijacked or locked in the future. Also, since it isn't "your" thread, you don't really need to reply and respond to every other members' posts. That's it.
  4. Look, the issue isn't really whether or not any or all of these designs CAN be made to fly. Probably some could, some couldn't. The issue is SHOULD they. There is no justification for such a silly proposition. Do you have any reason to suppose that this would actually be a good idea?
  5. What the hell is this post about? Autonomous giant clones/robots and large RC semi-autonomous aircraft...why are they in this thread?
  6. For the record, I agree that official threads should be mod/admin cleared and/or created, or be renamed. And as a small side note, Wes' use of "fashionation" seriously cracked me up. I don't know if it's funnier if he spelled it like that on purpose, or doesn't know how to spell it, both are pretty funny.
  7. THAT isn't an old school Alfa, THIS is an old school Alfa: There haven't been any real Alfas since the early 80s...and I personally wouldn't look twice at anything they've done post-war. But I like the classics.
  8. ah, i see. well thought out. a man after my own heart then. now, if we could just work on aesthetics... just kidding. keep up the good work...I wish I could transform my ideas into virtual 3-d as you've done a good job of.
  9. This is really the crux of the issue for me. I'll let it go at that.
  10. i would wager that it is a custom body. I don't know every car out there...but the fact that I recognize most, and this thing has no make/model tags lead me in this direction. I wouldn't know which one, but as some have suggested, a c5/c6 vette seems a likely candidate. If you have nothing but time, you could check every listing of supercars.net. Every modern supercar that gets drawn on a napkin seems to get legitimized there with an image or two.
  11. This is one of the lamest topics we have had here in a while...
  12. The more I look at it, the more I think this Falken thing looks pretty good backward. Get the stabs out of the way, and do something with the exhaust and you have an interesting airframe...I think I like it better backwards actually.
  13. Well, I don't like it. Personal preference. I don't like fighters that look like geese. I, like others here, like to design my own stuff sometimes, so I don't mean this as discouragement. It is obvious you have put a lot of effort into the design, so you obviously like it...that's all that counts. As far as constructive critisism: - I don't think the aerodynamics of a wing that sweeps forward AND back is gonna work. One airfoil design won't work for both. - The cockpit doesn't seem to have much visibility for a fighter, unless of course you're imagining that BVR combat has become the norm in your fictional world. - I can't imagine that anyone would build a plane with intergral scramjets if the plane itself can't take advantage of them without external help. That is a lot of extra weight to carry around the rest of the time. Why not assume the regular engines can accelerate the craft to the requisite speeds? Or have four normal engines, with scramjets being an optional bolt on? that's it i think this is what I am talking about in my first point: you would need a wing such that at profiles A & B the airfoil was efficient. I think that would be a prob.
  14. I watched 1 1/2 episodes. It doesn't seem to have the feel of the strip at all. Either it tries to be funny, or it tries to be edgy, but it never seems like it is both at the same time. I don't like it. I mean, it is better than robot chicken, and tom goes to see the mayor, and 12oz mouse, and squibbles...but that isn't saying much.
  15. You sir, do not know your cars. No offense.
  16. It pains me to see someone refer to these designs as somehow belonging to the rennaisance. Not to be an ass or to flame anyone, but if you know that there WAS a western Rennaisance, how do you have almost no idea when it was? oh, and, eh...I like shockwave but the a train is pretty weak as it needs rails, and those airplanes are horrible.
  17. In the f-body's defense, it is really only the late-2nd gen and 3rd gen that deserve that reputation. funny though.
  18. I recently watched "super atragon," and that qualifies as the worst anime I've seen recently. I haven't been watching much, so that could be part of it, but it was so flat and boring. It didn't make my stomach turn, so it wasn't the worst thing ever, but it failed on every level to entertain me.
  19. If it is based on the Halcyon kit, it is heavily modified. It is certainly possible given some people's skill, but my money would be on scratch built. On a different note, a question for fellow dropship fans. I know I have this in one of my references somewhere, but can't find it for the life of me. What does the P.S.M. stand for in ship 02's logo? The logo says "SMART ASS: we aim by P.S.M." I remember that the P is pure, and the M is magic...but I can't seem to remember the whole thing. Also, what logo did the special black 03 get? One of the ones from the technical manual?
  20. Just got mine today...and it is pretty nice. For this money they really should have added some detail to the old halcyon mold. The internal bay is a big improvement, as are the movable pods. But surely more detail could have been provided in a toy this expensive. The cockpit is pretty sparse (and inaccesable), the forward ventral thrust appature (if that's what it is) remains an undetailed blob, and the missles themselves aren't too impressive. For the APC to come seperately, this dropship really should be a more impressive piece. I still like mine, but if it hadn't been a gift, I wouldn't dream of spending this much on one. Bear in mind that the dropship is my all time favorite movie machine. I love it, I really really do. But even with that being the case, this should have been more than a hinged, metal version of a 15+ year old model.
  21. What kind of grown man can't drive a manual? Seriously? I always thought this guy lacked charisma, but now I outright don't respect him. I have no problem with him being warry of firearms, that is kinda to be expected from someone with no experiance with 'em (and probably wise). Jeesus, "I don't do gears." Unbelievable.
  22. Because some people (like those who would have a bugatti royale) are crazy rich. Dropping a few grand here and there is something they don't even think about. I didn't realize the extent of this 'till I got to interact with them at one of my old jobs. We had someone who took their familiy and 40 friends on a caribbean cruise for fun...for fun. We had another who went to clubs with $400 cover charges and invited a dozen friends (and some people he just met that night) to hang with him. If you spend money like that, a few grand for "the best" car wax isn't really that big a deal. But, you probably have to be born into it to be willing to spend it like that.
  23. I am of one mind with yellowlightman here as well.
  24. To each their own. I see it as much more analogous to the audacious and garish rice rockets than a classic car. I cruise around in my car purely for my enjoyment...I am actually mildly embarrassed that anyone would think I drive it for attention. As a former (and future) San Diegan, I can say that if anyone there had a classic muscle car for it's "look at me" value they would be quite dissappointed. At least that was true of the area I was in. But as I was saying, to each their own. I don't like the attention grabbing aspect of forum signatures. If the rules tightened a bit...I might change my mind. That is all.
  25. While I have signatures turned off, and have for quite awhile, I agree with yellowlightman here. I wouldn't mind signatures if they didn't seem to all be "look at me" tags. A funny saying, a pithy quote...stuff like that is fine. I turned 'em off because I didn't like that I prejudged a lot of people on the inanity (inane-ness?) of their sigs. I don't think I was wrong often...but I like to start with a clean slate.
