Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
Phyrox replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
You can study the evidence for "planet X" too, doesn't make it any more valid of a proposition. -
I'm guessing these: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/models/arii/arii_md.htm

Well, a Mopeada in armor mode would certainly be taller than 6', so I'd be a lot more likely to believe 1/15 over 1/12 for a 6" figure. While I don't generally like the Cyclone/Mopeada, if this version is cheap I might pick one up. Looks pretty good.

I'm going to guess OBISHWN = Obi-shawn. Easily the geekiest geekmobile ever. But sorta neat, in a geeky way.

I thought that whole idea of yours above was just a big tongue-in-cheek joke. You're serious?

macross subtitles for "Robotech - Macross Saga Complete Series Bo
Phyrox replied to luckyluca's topic in Movies and TV Series
Agreed. The animego set is pretty cheap these days, and the amount of work you would save yourself is worth the price. Assuming you have a region-free or region 1 dvd player. -
Well, now I know why Toynami hasn't been showing pictures of the Beta in battloid. It looks like a mid-1980s toy. About as dynamic as my old voltron. Maybe it's just the wideset, treetrunk-like legs. I dunno. Pretty disappointing though. So there is an alright fighter-mode Beta with Toynami (although with a pretty ugly cockpit) which has a terrible battloid, or a not-very-accurate fighter CM (with a tiny cockpit) which has an alright battloid mode. Not the choices I was hoping for. I'm still excited of course, to even have a single Beta/Tread, let alone a choice. But neither is really the toy I had been hoping for. Although I am leaning towards the CM now, which I didn't think I would be a month or so ago.

Some of the comments of youtube are made be idiots then. It's caused by the same thing that causes you to see black bars on a TV when you look at it through a video camera. If they had been practicing an autorotation emergency landing (see how rotation is IN THE WORD), the rotor blades still spin. Just not very fast. Wouldn't be much of an emergency maneuver otherwise.
-
A Mi-24 cannot fly without lift from the rotor, and if it was in free fall the blades would still be spinning, so it's due to the camera.

I've always thought no. But I can't seem to get many people to agree with me. I rarely feel like wasting my time with something low quality, no matter the creators intention. I guess I just don't like camp. At least not in my movies.

Just as in the Alien series, there is no need for anything past the first two. First was great, second was greater, and that's it. I know they want to make money off a recognizable name, but it's sad to see a property get exploited. There is something to be said for resting on your laurels. I miss the days when a hit could be a hit and left alone. Although besides E.T. I can't think of any modern blockbusters that haven't tried to strike gold twice.

Well, I'm not a transformers fan, but I'll offer my opinion. Sentient alien robots from another planet who transform into machines: VERY unlikely. Extremely so. Mass shifting: physically impossible. For the sake of entertainment I'll accept an unlikely scenario or two. I really try to steer clear of physical impossibilities if possible. It breaks what tenous believability the fiction has. Like in Star Trek (another series I'm not a dedicated fan of), I can accept that nearly all life-form seem to look like humans in masks/make up. I would be repelled if they flew around the galaxy in giant furry cats. Both are unrealistic, one is just much more so. But that's just my opinion.

All this talk of exhaust noise is making me remember my old '70 SS. The guy I bought it from did all the mods, so I take no credit there, but I have never in my life heard a street car any louder. No one I know has either. Some people used to think it had glass packs. Jeesus do I miss that beast. It didn't drone, it roared. Not a nasty scream like a dragracer, a roar...a roar like the very voice of god. Used to set of car alarms in parking garages in idle. Probably a bit on the other side of street-legal now that I think about it. Good times, good times.

Wowsers. That is amazingly bad. That white Wiesmann in the background on the other hand...

I love 1/72, but for the inbit/invid it might be a bit too small. 1/48 goes well with the approximate Alpha scale, which is the clincher for me. Although I wonder if 1/72 would be small/easy enough that we might see a range of invid and not just the gurab...? That would be a deal maker for me.
-
which line-art though? I don't see it in my artmic books.
-
who told you that?
-
I certainly would, as I said in the above-mentioned thread. As long as it looks close to the line art, I'm in.

Mospeada enemy EAGER recast and need some help
Phyrox replied to Re-issue Liu's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Here here! -
These were mentioned when we first heard about this. These don't seem to amount to the improvements the Alpha needs. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a problem with its crotch joint, and I still can't seem to figure out what they are saying they are gonna do with the shoulder (if they improve/ratchet that joint that would be good), and more missiles aren't really needed. It's like they are doing some easy unimportant modifications so that they can claim it has been improved, without having to address any of the issues that people actually have with the toy, and which actually SHOULD be improved.

You could count me in. If you ever think seriously about it. Multiples of each if they weren't too much. -

there was a resin gurab/shock trooper. Not bad. doesn't look as cool as the line-art though -
To anyone waiting on, or wanting decals from Night Stalker or Robograp
Phyrox replied to Night Stalker's topic in Model kits
I didn't order any decals, so I don't have a dog in this fight...BUT, if you actually take payment upfront, then be it your hobby or job, people will expect timely delivery of the product. If you had a waiting list where people could sign up for decals, and you could tell them to pay when you were ready I imagine you would have gotten very few complaints. Even if this is something you're doing on the side to help out some fellow fans, you can't be too surprised when people get crabby that you took their money right away, and took your time with the product (for whatever reason). But like I said, I'm not one of 'em so what do I care? -
methinks jenius is right (about the bucket thing...not his spelling of methinks)

Mospeada enemy EAGER recast and need some help
Phyrox replied to Re-issue Liu's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's the one I had a recast of. It sucked. At least my recast did. Not enough definition in any of the parts and a poor fit. Well, this is all I could dig up. In fact most of these I just got off another thread on this forum, as they are larger resolution than what I had before. As for official color, it looks to vary a bit. The scheme itself is simple and consistant, but whether you go with a redder or a more magenta seems optional. There is a simplified side view/silhouette in the art books, but sadly none of mine are with me. Hopefully someone can post that for you, although I don't know if it would be very helpful. Not much detail in it.
