  1. Hey, another paint question: Can anybody verify the color of the grey used on the Pontiac Solstice? I think it's called "sly." I've seen only one driving around in town and it looked unique...sorta shiny, but not too shiny. And not metallic. But when I look online, all the photos look different, and the pontiac website says it is "shadow metalic grey" or something like that. I know photos often distort the actual RL color, and since I don't have a car right now (in CA to get painted), I am hoping one of my fellow car-lovers can help me out. I think that is the color I want my car to be, but not if the one I saw was a custom/one-off. Thanks.
  2. Eh, I dunno...that's a pretty boring looking valk if you ask me. I was hoping for something different, like we saw with his "air chronicals" or whatever it was called. Continuity of design is nice, but look at an FH-1 Phantom and a F-4 Phantom, or a BAC Lightening and the Eurofighter. I'm not saying it's a bad design, just that it seems uninspired and kinda boring at this point.
  3. Sure they can: total and complete waste of money.
  4. The sail position almost makes me think November...but the hull shape isn't right. It doesn't seem to have an "Albacore" (cigar-shaped) hull, unless the shadows are playing tricks. It doesn't have diving planes on the sail. It's fairly large. The sail is pretty far forward. All this points to a Russian/Soviet guided missle sub of the mid-Cold War period. It could be something entirely different, like a USN one-off. Wish I could be more specific. Probably not an SSBN. Early Soviet SSB/SSBN had the missles in the sail, which made the sail pretty big. Later Soviet SSBNs had Albacore-like hull shapes and a distinctive turtle-backed structure. This sub has neither.
  5. I don't have any of my references out here with me, so I can't reference the size to check. Looks like an older Soviet missle boat to me. Like an Echo or something. I must admit it is harder than I thought to ID subs from satelite images, since almost all the photos and drawings I've seen are not from that vantage. I'll keep thinking.
  6. yikes, that's pretty nasty. The colors are terrible, and the other changes, while subtle, are poor as well. Eva was all about direction and characters for me though, so even uglified evas won't make or break this new thing. I will be stearing clear of any merchandise however.
  7. I watch giant robot shows because, well, I ain't got no giant robot. I don't watch fan-service lameness because, well, I do got a girl.
  8. I'm in Chapel Hill, NC. I can't afford magazine quality. I have contacts in CA, and I'm moving back there at the end of the year anyway, which is why I'm giving up here and getting it painted out there. At the moment I can't afford any more than 3-4,000 for stripping, painting, and fixing a few trouble spots. It'll be a decent paintjob, but no show winner. The T/A is my daily driver.
  9. I don't know which is funnier, your custom title or your reaction to it.
  10. Does anyone have a line on a good/cheap car moving co.? I am striking out finding someone to give my car a paintjob out here, so I'm gonna ship it back to CA a bit early and have it painted out there. When I had it shipped out to me out here in NC (about a year ago) it cost around 500-600, now I can't get an estimate lower than 900. Even with the cost of gas going up this seems a bit much. Anyone have any advice?
  11. you don't have to be an expert to compile something like that, go to fas.org, or some similar site for the orthographic views (should be very easy to find US fighters), and get the dimensions off fas.org, or wikipedia, or whatever. you're asking david to do a fair amount of work with all the scanning/searching, calculating pixel:inches, resizing, and combining.
  12. I really like the forward fuselage of the SV-51, but everything else is pants. The wings look terrible, the rear fuselage looks terrible, and the battloid looks terrible. Whenever I see a side view, I start thinking I should get one, then I see it from an angle that shows off the rest of it and I remember why I'm not. It just looks too much like a plane that "has" to transform. It doesn't look convincing enough in fighter mode. The VF-1 - and VF-0 - on the otherhand is pretty solid (except for the arms when seen from underneath).
  13. The only Gundam I would recommend would be: 0080 08th Mobile Suit Team 0083 In that order Zeta is pretty good, but you have to know gundam to get the most out of it I guess. What little I've seen of Wing was soulless.
  14. No, no. I mean THIS planet X: http://www.planet-x.150m.com/
  15. Not all unproven/hypothetical ideas are equal. Tachyons and string theory are up here: ^ ESP, telekinesis and planet X are down there: v That's not true. It's often said, but it's just not so. You don't use all of it at once, but you use all of it. At least that's what I've been told by people who ought to know.
  16. I had assumed that was a pivot point for the whole cockpit section. But now that I look more closely, there does seem to be a small gab in the top/bottom halfs. Could be I guess.
  17. I highly doubt the CM Tread will have an opening cockpit. It didn't look like it had any such mechanism. The Toynami/Aoshima will, although the end result makes me think this wasn't such a good idea.
