  1. off the top of my head I know the X-31 had a similar thrust-vectoring arrangement, and it was doing testing before M+
  2. you got all of that from my two sentences? I think you read a bit too much into them.
  3. So, these are the people they are making these trashy movies for then...
  4. It looks as much like an "invid scout" as an old 1/100 valk. It is recognizable, sure, but it looks like crap.
  5. Largest helicopter still flying/in operation. Not the Largest. I think I have an image somewhere on my computer that compares scaled images of the Mi-26 (largest operational helicopter) the CH-53 (largest helicopter in the West) with the V-12 (largest helicopter ever). Ah, here it is: edit: the image has the CH-53 labeled as an "E" model, when it is a "D"...not much difference though.
  6. I would be disappointed in the extreme if, after years of hoping for a decent Invid/Inbit figure that were to be the result.
  7. The mecha is the Asshimer protype (or something similar) from Advance of Zeta The second thing...I would have no idea, and in fact would be so personally mortified if I did that I wouldn't let on that I knew anyway.
  8. Well, I couldn't get the trailer to run smoothly so I can't say anything about the movement/animation of the aircraft (where most CG gets it wrong), which is the most important element, but the stills I could see looked alright. The music seemed an odd choice. Glad to see them having Richthofen in his Albatros. His life story isn't all that interesting though, but this probably isn't going to try to be very realistic in that regard.
  9. Somehow I am not suprised at this. The validation this lends to 0080's quality cannot be underestimated.
  10. That was exactly my point. They didn't put VF-style FAST packs on Starscream, they didn't stick a bunch of extra missles on Blackout, and they didn't give Bumblebee a bunch of MASK-like hidden laserguns. Because those are lame. Their alt modes all look like real world vehicles. Then there is this tank with a ridiculous second turret, looks like it rolled out of GI Joe. So, yeah it does look overgunned and childish. And seriously, there is no need to quote back my comment and define its style of critisism. I think everyone here got what I was saying without your help.
  11. The Predators would seed planets with aliens by sending eggs in a pod. They had a captive queen for this. They seeded this human rancher world because humans had just arrived and the Predators didn't know about there arrival. No one crashlanded on the planet, neither the Aliens nor the Predators. The Preds ended up stranded, due to human interference, and the mass hosts available because of human ranching practices resulted in unexpectedly high Alien concentration, which ends up sucking lots for the humans, and for the preds. Like I said, you weren't really off base, just in a few details. And there were 5 issues. 0,1,2,3,4 zero was a sort of back story to the preds of the series, with a philosophical/moral discussion between the Lector crew providing a context of sorts.
  12. You got some of the details wrong, but ya, that is the only good AVP version out there (the game was fun, but not a good story, the movie was terrible...if it existed, which it didn't)
  13. I'd be pretty temped to pick up that desert leader Brawl if there was a good way to remove the lame second turret. Why'd they do that anyway? Take a perfectly good tank and slap some ridiculous "extra shooty bits" on to appeal to the fisher-price crowd. I like Brawl a lot otherwise.
  14. Damn, looks like my car is gonna stay white. It was an extra 1K to go a different route, and while I could afford it, I have student loans to pay back and couldn't justify it. Besides, I had already purchased the blue decals, and I'm not sure the blue would have gone well with the "pastel" grey I wanted. Now, if I had had foresight and gotten the white decals...maybe I would have splurged. I know it'll look good in white, but I wanted to try something new. Oh well.
  15. I thought they were, although I couldn't quite figure out why they would have done that. That movie needed a lot more blackout.
  16. hilarious. it is hard to imagine that someone thought that was a good idea.
  17. I don't think anyone disagrees with that. "not original" isn't the same as "rip off," that's all anyone has been saying.
  18. Yeah, we can all read. Because the producers of the show moved it more in a macross direction than was originally envisioned doesn't make it a rip off. Look at the finished product. Apart from the mecha concepts (which are just eye candy), there isn't THAT much that the two share besides basic genre.
  19. Besides some design similarities, Mospeada doesn't seem much like Macross at all. The show, besides dealing with an Alien invasion, is quite different in feel, scope, characterization, and direction. It is a stretch to call it a Macross rip-off.
  20. One of my only complaints about this movie, besides the shaky dodgey camerawork that made a lot of the action a bit confused, was that they never, to my memory, described why these giant robots turn into cars. I know, "that's what transformers DO!" But since they felt the need to describe everything else about the plot through exposition, why didn't they tell me why a giant alien robot would want to look like a 2nd generation F-body?
  21. I opnly read the first 2.5 pages of this thread, but when did everyone turn into a big, fat pussy? A guy threw a pie in another guy's face. Harmless and a little pitiful. It's a god damn PIE, not a grenade. I'm a pretty non-comfrontational, non-violent guy...but what's the big f'ing deal? A PIE?! I can hear people now, "what if it was an anthrax-laced grenade in a pie?" People seem more upset by what he could have done than what he did do. A loser tossed a pie at someone who was "raping his childhood" or something. That's lame, but who cares.
