  1. Read the manga, then watched the show...I actually like the show more than the comic.
  2. If you can't drive a stick, you can't drive. That's what my momma always taught me anyway.
  3. Fantastic
  4. Maybe people in Japan don't buy enemy stuff, but I don't think that's how things work in the States. Every fan of Macross/Mospeada/Robotech I've ever spoken to wants enemy stuff. I think that it would not be too hard to sell 500. Of course, I'm no marketing expert. The Gosu isn't the one I would want the most, but I'd be a definite buy. And if it was cheap (as I assume limited posability and features would allow it to be), I'd get more than one.
  5. Where's Isamy vs. Unnamed Zentran enemies from the Plus OVA? It might not be as intense or as iconic as some of the more popular ones, but it's easily my favorite.
  6. nope, I love what you've done. looks reeeal nice.
  7. Anyone hear anything about a solid release date for the Toynami Beta? It was supposed to ship “October/November,” which I took to mean early 2009, but I would assume some dealers or vendors would have something concrete by now.
  8. None of the engines are for forward thrust, at least not if it's a regular helicopter. It has four engines to provide gobs and gobs of power to the main rotor, which in turn provides thrust and lift. Maybe the blades are particularly thick or long, to better transfer all that power to the surrounding air?
  9. Maybe so it could doulble as a heavy lifter? That might be cool, have a slung-load cable connection on the underside rather than a weapons bay. Or maybe for super-redundancy. Two engine pods, each capable of supplying enough power for the craft to make it back to ship. Or maybe because it looks cool.
  10. US mk 82: Length 2.21 m / 66.15 in. Diameter 10.75 in.
  11. mi-28 has too many angles to be used for anything with this. Even the mi-24 could probably only lend a few mechanical bits like a modified rotor head assembly and cockpit details.
  12. not to pooh-pooh your cool idea...but I just assume the fuselage is where they'd keep the missiles for the port launcher. That launching sponson-thing isn't very big, so I imagine it is supplied with missile ammo from the actual body...thus eliminating the "what do to with all that space" problem.
  13. I'm in for one. I've been wanting one of these for a looong time.
  14. You ever hear of this quaint little site called "amazon.com" Check it out.
  15. That's nice of you, but I think everyone understands his plan. It isn't very complicated. It is just really, really stupid.
  16. It's much more analogous to completely razing an entire forest to prevent wood beetles from destroying the trees. Eventually, somewhere down the line there will probably be healthy trees in this place again, but not for a long time, and the "cure" was a lot more damaging than the initial disease. Because, you know, cancer's usually not as bad as chemo. And massive k-t level extinction events are much, much worse than anything people do, or will do (with the notable exception of Char)
  17. Bottom line is this: a catastrophic asteroid impact is gonna be way worse for the ecology and health of the earth’s biosphere than man’s continued inhabitance. And if all he wants is to get people into space so they can evolve, there are certainly more effective ways to accomplish such a goal. I never really took to CCA, for a number of reasons, but the whole “I’m gonna drop a huge space-rock on earth, for it’s own benefit” always struck me as one of it’s weakest points, plot-wise. Where's your podcast review then?
  18. Also, remember that the heat of re-entry is due to the shockwave created by such excessive speed in the atmosphere. With all the mobility available to these VFs, I imagine they are quite capable of slowing down to a reasonable speed before entering the upper atmosphere, and thus greatly limit the temperature-related difficulties associated with re-entry.
  19. If by "planet" you mean rock and dirt, then probably not. But then what's the point. If you care about any of the plants and animals, then yeah...they are gonna care a lot.
  20. With most modern fighters having just one gun, there is no convergence to worry about. So as long as you are in killing range, give it a shot. The killing range on modern aircraft cannon is far longer than the range at which most pilots are going to be able to hit anything as fast and maneuverable as a modern fighter anyway.
  21. It's a fine toy. Not quite as tight as it should be, with some aesthetic issues (depending on the fan), and a fairly worthless "linkup" feature. If the money isn't anything to you, pick one up, you'll like it. If the price seems ridiculous (which it should), don't bother. I like mine a lot, but if it hadn't been a gift I would not have paid the price they asked. Owning one hasn't changed my mind on that. And I LOVE Mospeada.
  22. Exactly. Well, that and the other 10K+
  23. Eh...I don't think it's possible even then. There are only 360 degrees in a cirlce, so I think runway 36 is about as high as the numbering can go...no matter the size. Or is there another convention in place for particularly unique airfields?
  24. Vulcan. Clearly. Although I think the Victor is a thousand times cooler. Even as a tanker. But that is a decidedly minority opinion.
