  1. It's still the best looking Legioss out there. I really look forward to progress on this (especially lengthening the nose). But...the scale is just too big for me. I must be one of those rare people who doesn't think "bigger is better" with toys and models. Aside from personal scale preference, it'll also put it out of my price range. All that said, get that thing finished! It'll look awesome, and many here will doubtless not have the reservations I do.
  2. Looking really good so far. Exciting project. I'll be looking into this thread often.
  3. I'm not saying I hate it, and I'm not saying he should. I'm hearing what he's saying and suggesting he not waste his time. Of course, he COULD watch it and make up his own mind, but when you put what he's said together with what Mac7 is, it isn't hard to see he isn't going to like it. Does everyone need to see Rocky Horror Picture Show and make up their own minds? Probably not. Some people...you can just tell it isn't going to be their cup of tea. If he wants to spend hours and hours of his life trying to like Mac7, then surely he should. But honestly, it doesn't sound like he's gonna like it. Keith, seriously...people don't need to like what you like for it to be "good."
  4. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest the OP skip Mac 7 entirely. Sure, the series has some vocal supporters, who might also try to make the point that "you should watch all of macross if you are to be a true fan." But, there are better things to do in a day that force yourself to give somethign a chance when, from what you have said about your feelings about the shows you have seen, you will fit in with the crowd that finds Mac7 to be...not so good. Just skip it. Some like it, but you very likely will not. It's like, uh, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I know some people like it, I know some people hate it. I have friends I'd steer away from it despite the fact that I like it. I know it won't work for them. Mac7 will not work for you. Why fight it?
  5. Yeah. Go to torrents for Wings. TCM will never show it it seems, and there hasn't been a video or dvd release of it. I don't know where the torrent version I have came from, but that's the only way thsese days I think. Unless you caught it back when AMC showed it (how I got turned on to it)
  6. Blue Bax is pretty good, aircraft-wise, but certainly Wings is superior. I'd put it up with Hell's Angels. Plus, he doesn't "really" get the girl. He uses her, and she him. Then he dies.
  7. If you actully LIKE airplanes, and are judging the movie from that standpoint, Top Gun is one of the best out there. The aerial cinematography is among the best that's been shown. And, it hardly need be said, was of REAL planes doing what real planes can actually DO. Stealth? Well, it sucked.
  8. It could well be named after the race series from which the Pontiac car got its name. It does bear some resemblance to a "generic" trans am racer, with the aero parts and the late-60s/early-70s styling cues.
  9. Nope, pretty sure he means county. Houston alone has twice the pop., and the county is larger than RI
  10. I had the original tie fighter game, and I swear the defender had a noticably different "canopy" geometry than other craft in the tie family. So why do all of the images of it that appear in later works after the original ignore this?
  11. Oh yah, of course, the Aliens Dropship (I don't use the fan retcon designation...sounds...corny). That was my first sci-fi love, and is still one of the best designs ever (despite it's somewha tubby appearence and the insanely unaerodynamic weapon pods). To accompany the above CG image (which seems based on the Halcyon kit dimensions), I will provide this pic of one of the studio models, which are somewhat sleeker:
  12. Wow, there are some...unpleasant designs in here. But, to each their own. As for me, rather than post a dozen images, I'll just link the site I'd get them from. Pretty much anything from Gall Force (except the nasty star force stuff) is in my "favorite spacy" designs: http://www.gearsonline.net/gallforce/ I'll also second the Executor from ESB.
  13. hmm, that's not a very good reason. If I ever have reason to refer to the toy, I think I'll go with Drift.
  14. They are regular kits...but they can be made without glue (at least the ones I have). I know for some of my modelling-challenged friends that can make a big difference.
  15. You lie. No one wants to watch Southern Cross.
  16. Invasion was an...alright game, but that's mostly because I really like Mospeada/Next Gen., and it's pretty much all we've got. The game pretty much is on rails, so you'll almost never not be able to quickly discern where to go next, at least that was my experiance. One thing I didn't even know about the game 'till I played through it a second time is there are several possible endings/ending levels, depending on your actions in an earlier part. A nice touch for a quick "property" title I thought. The only really shitty part of the game I thought was the boss fight against that heavy invid mecha, where you gotta shoot him in the eye...? That was mighty frustrating. Battlecry...I really liked the visuals, and most of the gameplay, but the low ceiling really killed it.
  17. I think the biggest aesthetic problem with him in't that he's a bad "hollywood-ized" P-38, but that he has almost no wings. He looks more like a bomb thatn a plane. An ugly bomb at that.
  18. I know it's not exactly the point you were making, but I would way rather watch the Sentinels than Shadow Chronicles.
  19. Muther Fukin' amazing.
  20. Speaking of kitbashes...I dug this old guy out and am thinking of finally finishing him. He obviously needs painting, and lining, and decaling, but even if this rough state I think the kit bash went pretty good, by my own standards at least. HGUC Zaku III + Zeku Eins (with extra calf boosters, modified backpack, altered gun, and various other small mods to make the mating work)
  21. Is it like Appleseed meets Megazone23? Visually that's what I'm getting (with maybe some Syd Mead in there too)
  22. Also, besides the fact that you missed that he was joking...I could add that not a single person in England used the metric system for measurement while I was staying there. Litres and kilos, sure...but distance was all feet and miles.
  23. Easy, HGUC Zeta Plus, Messala, and Gundam Mk.V (from Sentinel). I can't understand why the first two haven't been done yet actually.
