Simple, they never imagine a mecha piloting a mecha (ref to GL). I guess the idea came abruptly when a VF-1 tried to manually pilot a regult.

I like Frontier since it make homage to the original Macross series without a flaw. Although the main character is very dense, it better than have him saying "I'm ally of Justice" or "I'm a Valkyrie" . Mechanical design is quite good, but the CG needs more work (but still awesome for a TV series). My only criticism is the animation quality which is differ for each episode (since they have like 3 Studio animating it), lots of recycled scene and they never explained what the hell is the cause of fold fault. Macross is also know to blend mecha action with music and romance and this triangle whats makes a Macross animation a Macross.

Hmm, the EX-gear backpack could mount a mini particle accelerator along with a proton rifle for ghost catching you know . Now I'm wondering WHAT Isamu could have done if he's wearing EX-gear......

You forgot one thing, it was Sheryl who asked Alto to save Ranka (he intended to kill her in the first place) and give him the fold quartz earring. If Sheryl hadn't done that, Frontier wouldn't win. So, Sheryl is the real war hero.

Yup, VF-1 Super is very powerful in term of engines, however I doubt it will match VF-27 performance. VF-27 is equipped with a much more advanced avionics and vernier control, making it like a Bee buzzing around in a battlefield. A VF-1 Super will perform like...a...manned hypersonic missiles...loaded with missiles
